Artists need to eat and the masses generally economize on their audio consumption - effectively these are people who just rely on what they are told is good (read: U2 - who I really liked until the joshua Tree. i hate how there is so much amazing music that is FAR better than all of the mainstream pop shit, but nobody acknowledges it at all! : (
