This is the perfect setting for such a performance. I don't care if anyone finds it pretentious, I can't imagine any other setting more fitting.

the perfomance and the setting are indeed excellent, pretention lies in the same definition of tragic-everything tragic has to be pretentious,by the definition of tragedy-but i d prefere people around in a pit, "is not the summer of love" though (not even the winter..)

@RavenXGhost It would only be pretentious if Tibet were deliberately and cynically trying for effect, but didn't really believe what he says he does, both in his lyrics and interviews. But that he is dead serious about all that he says he believes, and he respect the place by performing a very low-key, solemn show. One of the most interesting artists around today in a world in which most so-called "artists' are utterly dull and derivative and talentless.

Current 93 is really great, as always, but I can't help but feel a bit irritated at the whole setting and so... Very pretentious, and the crowd sitting down giving an applause? I don't know.

I, for one, admire an artist that can perform with such respect for high culture. I pity those who cannot see the value in such a thing.

Of course there is such a thing as high culture. Compare this a 50 Cent concert and tell me there isn't. I dare you.

There is a difference in content but not in the experience of those who enjoy it, whatever artistic endavour it is they're witnessing, thus you can't judge culture as high and low in my opinion.

There are different people performing their music. That is it, some are better than the others, that is how it varies. Artists that do appriciate filharmonic settings are no better or worse, it is just what they "need" to do. What they lust to do.
