Judging from the take-off sound just after 5:00, that's a 5HP502. Or 6HP552 if 6-speed. Different from the more common 6HP602 with a different take-off gear half shift manner.

9400 series buses had their own sound nothing like nabi buses. the flexs had weak muffler brackets and mounts and would break flex pipe to the muffler. talk bout loud but sounded good though!

Gee, I wish NJ Transit's Flxible D's had this particular Cummins engine. It sounds very powerful! The ones we have are the Cummins C8.3's coupled to ZF trannies as well, but they sound like sound like CRAP because they're too quiet!

Just something about them....like if they smooth and tight, chances are they're slow, but the raggedy, beat up looking, fucked up sounding ones are the ones that are rockets!

This bus sounds great! Gotta love the way these buses rattle! In South Bend, Indiana, we used to have 43 Metros with Cummins/Voiths, 39 from 87 & 4 1991s, all retired now.
