  • can't beat the amazing, piercing sound of a piccolo(:

  • @drumsforever101 that is actually mostly an oboe sound.

  • Sunrise or Sundown?

  • @BreakingBank Sundown. :)

  • this is one of my favorite orchestral pieces!

  • @collinlloyd wow i feel like i'm replying to this REALLY late because i am but anways, when my orchestra played this, we had trumpets who were pretty good, and one of the french horns was playing with them and i didn't realize that until i turned around saw him play! lol.

  • My junior high advance band is playing this Im first chair tuba

  • This is how it SHOULD sound! Go, Air Force!!!

  • clarinets at 1:44. freaking love it

  • I played this my Sophomore year in college. I would love someday soon to join all of you playing wonderful music like this!!

  • our band played this song my freshman year, and i fell in love with it!

    this is AMAZING!

  • Any euphoniums?

  • @SeaNinja45 Yes, I do believe there are.

  • Wants to play euphonium with them so bad!

  • i love it!

  • amazing. gotta love the air force band.

  • The cleanest version on youtube of this piece.

  • Impeccable timing. THIS is music.

  • As good as this band is,it would not match the USAF Washington band from the 50s.Sorry fellas...that was the best ever, and over 100 pieces strong.

  • I think I'm in love with this recording. I played this 4 years ago when I was a sophmore in high school. We played it very well.

  • Those 16th note arpeggios in measures 138-143: extremely confusing (at least to me...why couldn't they all be the same pattern?). They played this very well...but of course this is a military band, and military bands normally play very well.

  • Nothing beats the air force band.

Wish the trucks werent making background noise .

  • @hkrivell - sorry about any background noise, but the AF Memorial is right next to a major highway (I-395) and Reagan National Airport.

  • @RRPiccolo I know all about it ;)

  • I just love the way this piece is written. you have people playing the melody with stacato and other sections playing the same melody with slurs. and another playing with slurs and stacato. It's really beautiful. I love the contrast between the soft melody followed by that cresendo and the trills from the flutes. :D

  • wow def. played this at state my sophmore year in high school in symphonic band..

  • my favorite concert band piece any one agree

  • ya mine too and I play the 1st cornet part I love it.

  • considering they're outside they sound amazing they're not in a room where the sound is confined

  • Amen to that.

  • hey polaris every conductor has their own style of conducting that the band gets acusostomed to so dont become such a pissybitch about it.

  • Don't forget that there is probably sound delay as well.

  • Yeah, my high school band is playing this next week, were going on a trip to Sweden, Finland, Estonia and Russia and this is one of the pieces were playing...Great to know HOW it should sound...Thanks for the video RRPiccolo

  • your HIGH SCHOOL band is going to all those places!? lucky!!!!! we dont play outside of school....only for fba. and solo and ensemble.

  • i absolutely adore the clarinet and sax arpeggios at the 4:02 part!!!!!!!!!

  • it actually hurts me to watch the conductor conduct and listen to them play he sucks at conducting he gets a full measure ahead of the band the band sounds awesome tho its reakky noticable at 0:37 ish conduct with it lol he gtes off

  • my brass quintet is playing this song and we are accually gunna be able to pull it off

  • we're playing this at CHS, i think my conductor is crazy. i've never played anything higher than a a flat above the staff ( i play flute)

  • who's this? i was in a band at Cooper High school in Abilene, Texas a couple weeks ago that attempted this. haha.

  • Okay - starting to play this next week, I'm hoping we'll be able to pull it off. :O

  • We were. ^_^

  • Congrats! :)

  • This is a very nice piece. Good Job!!

  • woa, i played this for my concertband and know all this but i didnt do it as clean and in perfect tune as them. i'm amazed. it is a diffficult peice, i dont even know how i managed to play it decent.

    clarinetist! wooo

  • is this at the gateway arch?

  • yes

  • No, it's the new Air Force Memorial in Arlington, Virginia.

  • I love the trumpets, this song is really geared towards them.

I also think of graduation while I listen to song, since they play 'aida' during the graduation, and this sorta sounds like that.

  • I feel as if the French horns are robbed of an amazing part in this arrangement.
