This the main suit for the first half of Mobile Suit Gundam Seed, a series that is more about POLITICS than good vs Evil and random robots bashing into each other.
aimbiz what trick did you use to make the material look metalic well still maintaining the correct color combination. Made a Wing zero custom model with maya. Working on rigging but not had too much luck with metalic appearence it looks more platicy then I would like.
I modeled it in Maya using polygon meshes. No NURBS or anything.
For most of the parts, specially the head, I started making hte mesh based on the side view of the blueprints and made a simple topology out of it. Then I moved out the vertecies according ot the front and back view and then refined the mesh alot, adding more geometry etc. until I accuired the desired result.
I would LOVE to know how you modeled that...I've been trying to figure out how to make a 3D Gundam for years...I've even gone so far as to take my Perfect Grade RX-78-2 apart and try to replicate each individual part in 3D and still fail miserably haha. The biggest part that I have trouble with is the head/helmet
