my brother and i are putting air ride in my 68 cadillac deville, he builds busses for a living and has lots of experience with air bag systems, im so excited to finish this, just the switches are left to wire up
i got a 62 cadi like this with bodydrop. im redoing the break lines on it an the dude ordered a 1/4" 25ft spoil of "NI COPP" 90% cop 10% nick should i use this or stainless???this was $60 stainless is $25 an Kanter sells pre bent for $220 half the ppl say dont use it an the other half say its fine..what should i use and why??? $'s not the issue i just want whats gonna be the best for what im doing....a lil help PLEASE!
air suspension is nice when it works fine. it sucks when it breaks. i know. my lincoln first had airbags. i ended up putting coils on it. now im wishing i had the airbags back. but with the things i do with my car, i think i need those coils
Anyone here smart enough or "in the know" of airbags knows that there is nothing he has done to that car that cant be undone back to factory specs. If it were hydraulics I'd say different as it tends to involve more cutting. He hasnt "ruined" anything! The car still looks to be very intact otherwise.
Hey what bags did you use? And did you have to do any other mods to the suspension? I have heard of flipping the control arms in the Cadillacs, but I am not too sure of that...I am building a '62 Coupe De Ville myself, and I want it to go pshhhhhhh and hit the ground.
eldoradorider,i am a ''REAL'' car enthusiast,so speak for yourself, he didnt do that to a 1957 biarritz or something rare, his car is very common and affordable, and i dont know what mechanical skills you have, if any, but you dont have to ''hammer the hell'' out of anything for a quality air ride set up.some of the BEST CUSTOM CARS IN THE WORLD use them.that is MY opinion, so keep your crybaby ass, negative, boring, hater ass opinion to yourself... u've been owned...
i kinda agree but i do like a car that you can bring it to the desired height or lowness to see the road better at the flick of a switch. but he did kinda ruin the car with that ghetto lowrider shit, but it's a beautiful car.
eldoradorider is one of those crybaby followers with no balls. there is a million of these caddys still around and there is nothing wrong with customizing your ride. who cares what you own... you obviously dont have any creativity or originality to add to the culture, hater... cool ride bro... classy style... fuck these haters...
There is a million? I cant believe you! I dont have any creativity? does that mean hammering the hell out of your shocks and springs and put these air bags on?Yes you can do whatever you may please to your own car, but IT IS IN MY OPINION and many other opinions that you have ruined a classic car.
I really dont want to argue to anyone because I know for a fact to any REAL classic car lover that for what you did to that Cadillac, broke our hearts.
you have just ruined a priceless classic. you people don't realize that these cars are American history, and putting those air bags on that beautiful Caddy, you absolutely ruined it. you made the resale price go down dramatically, you cannot receive collector plates, you made the factory "air" suspension into a nut..... you've just ruined a beautiful car. And I know what i am talking about because i own 1959, 1963 & 1985 Cadillacs, and for what you did to that beautiful car, you are a nut.
my front end used to sag when the tanks got low on pressure so I put smc check valves between the tanks and the release valves now the front end stays up until I hit the switches.
my big brother had a 62 on bags... we used to get the front wheels three feet off the ground... damn i miss that 62... im working on a 63... same treatment
if you want a bolt on kit you can buy one from Air Ride on credit. But if you want a custom kit like i have you would have to do some cutting and adding to your suspension using the appropriate bags. By adding shocks to your front your car will run a hell of alot smoother.
Nice car and nice bags and Murz13 is a fucking lowrideing jackass. Hydrolics are a lot harder on your car/frame plus they dont ride worth a damn. Where as air bags are like having regular suspension with the very added benefit of raising and lowering the car
I also love having 12 batteries full of acid in my trunk weighing the car down and leaky hydraulic tanks.. OOOH yeah, replacing couplings and teflon seals... There's a fun weekend. I have bags on my Lincoln, nothing in the trunk. New Ford A/C compressor under the hood and an airtank under the bak seat. Practicality and active suspension. Hydraulics are so archaic. I even have muffers on my discharge tubes so it doesn't hiss when it's lowered.
that is a fucking clean ass ride

Driv3rd 4 years ago
you gotta buy an airbag setup. But make sure you add shocks to the front airbags or else you will be all over the road.
caddycoupedeville 4 years ago
where can i buy this air bag system on credit card and can u explain what u mean by adding shocks and what kind if not original????
Driv3rd 4 years ago
if you want a bolt on kit you can buy one from Air Ride on credit. But if you want a custom kit like i have you would have to do some cutting and adding to your suspension using the appropriate bags. By adding shocks to your front your car will run a hell of alot smoother.
