Great points on unemployment and older job seekers. The lack of job training programs for older americans and the total collapse of american manufacturing has led this nation down a path of misery. Unemployment benifits and many other benifits are empty promises from politicians seeking votes.
What a good point. I totally agree. Everytime I hear a person say unemployed people are lazy or someone say that collecting unemployment makes people not want to get job or that unemployment is too much of a strain on our econmony.

The 99rs are the ones who need the help with a Tier 5. They are eliminating the jobs because of these companies being evil and trying to kill off alot of the population. Call center after call center here in Oregon has left town or gone out of business. I want to work and no one will hire me because I use a walker. People that are handicapped the REAL unemployment rate is 300-350% or more. The Worksource Oregon people do not care at all. MSI laid me off in August of 2009 and it left town.

Unemployed need a Caucus in Congress. We represent about 10 million US Citizens which is a lot more than the Tea-Party. DEMOCRATS got us the unemployment benefits back. VOTE for Democrats. I run a website, Secrets I Never Told, where people anonymously submit their secrets. The day the senate denied the unemployment extension, secrets poured in from across the country.
Maybe I was ignorant or blindfolded, or a combination of both, but until I read all these secrets I had NO idea how many people this really effects. If this extension doesn't get passed I'm afraid this country is going to be lead into a downwards whirlwind...quickly.

Great speech. I myself barely got a job with WalFart only a week after my 99 weeks ran out. Yet I got a BSME* degree! *(Bachelors of Science of Mechanical Engineering) degree. I almost got hired at least on three occasions if not for the slow economy/Job freezes. So I've been there and done that and have heard countless stories about others who have been out of work for three+ years. I am upset our government will bailout companies and countries that should fail.

hello... My name is Patrick, I am a disabled vet who only learned one thing in the military but that trade is not useful out here in this world. I have been looking for jobs since 2008 but the only ones out there are heavy lifting for the most unless you a degree. I started going to school but then my unemployment stopped, now i am faced with not having a place for my family and i to live.. D.C. needs to do something and do it FAST!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know why the media has abandoned the unemployed. They just allow politicians (the president included) to talk about how well the economy is supposedly recuperating. Where are the comparisons? I sure as hell don't feel like the economy is recuperating or growing. I feel it's worse than ever. I won't bore anyone with my financial problems but I'll tell you it's grim and looking worse every second. There should be a march or gathering of some sort.

I finally got a job been looking for about 2 years the only call back i got was fron US Census the only problem is that it's a temporairy thing. I want to school a couple years back for construction to better my life and added 10k to my student loans, but when I graduated the carpentry union stop accecpting applications. I know how you feel since I myself would be a 99er now if I hadn't worked at all in the last 2 Years, since it has been more than 99 Weeks since I last worked Full-Time (106 Weeks and counting) although since I have worked here and there, there have been certain weeks where I got either partial or no Unemployment Compensation so I'm only around Week 85 or so but my benefits will run out soon and I am worried what will happen afterwords
The only members of Congress who ever voted NO to these extensions were Republicans. Where is the Republican bill for extending unemployment benefits? Why are Democrats the only persons not only giving a damn but carrying 100% of the political weight of this issue?
Let me guess, there are no Republicans or conservatives jobless? Don't think so. One party should not have to bear the entire political burden of this issue. Not with so many Republican Senators having 10%+ unemployment.
I've been unemployed only twice in twelve years,and for only 2 or 3 months each time,since it was the slow time in construction.But now my job,as a residential electrician is non-existent my former co. that i worked 4 is gone.Their not building houses in Indiana.I'm far from lazy i got paid per house not by the hour,unlike congress i had to produce to earn a living.They should be paid the same,peacemeal then we'd see how much they get done when they really had to earn it.

I have been unemployed since November of 2006!!! I have gone back and forth between unemployment extensions and actually WORKING 40+ hrs/wk for foodstamps and cash assistance(less than unemployment pays). I have a wife and 2 kids and we have lost our car and our home. My unemployment pays $164/week and I am at the end of the last 6 week extension. My wife and I both have diplomas and some college education but we cant even find a job at McDonalds. We need TIER 5 NOW because the jobs aren't here!

I have just exhausted my Tier 4 Benefits and I have been looking for work since october of 2008. I have a 4 year Degree and I have actually applied and talked to every Fast Food, Grocery Store, Convient Store within a 50 mile radius on top of the 2,000 resumes that I have floating around out there... There are no extensions being passed. It is a continuance of already existing tiers. I am fortunate to have just started on tier 4 in Mississippi. Unfortunately I receive 181 a week, not much for a person whom has worked 25 years and has no savings, retirement and poor credit. Write your senators, congressmen daily. We have to push for additional tiers, without them we will have no money to spend and this spells certain economic crisis in the very near future. Bail out the banks with TARP? wrong

My Sister is suffering, she had foot surgery, collected disability, then collected unemployment, was denied an extension. She appealed I went to court with her & the judge said she needed to earn 40X her weekly benefit, he said she fell short -1,500 dllrs. I asked him when this rule started, he flipped through a large folder and said june 2008, she applied nov. 2008?? She has a family to support & is working 2 on-call jobs, surrendered 2 cars, we pick up food from local churces, next???

When the extension took effect before Christmas I was quite elated, I couldn't get work thru the holiday season, even requesting snow shovelling and getting no where! I have now gone about 5 weeks without unemployment, and no good work leads, they keep assuring you they'll try and find something (staffing and temping agencies) I had my folks bail me out about three times in the 2 years plus. I am exasperated and nervous and anxious all at once. This is not good at all!!

I am on my last "tier". I have applied for at least over 1 hundred jobs. Had roughly 5 phone calls, 2 interviews. Still unemployed. I am trying my hardest to just " find a job". All I ask for is "A JOB", and or a tier 5 extension. The people that , say "us" the long term unemployed are not trying to find a job.. Try being on unemployment and suffer sometime. It sucks! If you are lazy but had steady work, it's still just as much a pain, if not more so. I felt I was on hiatus in a way, because when you're retired you're too old to do things you want...but at the same time, I have no money now to do what I want. I have less then $100 in the bank! All loaned too.
I can relate, I had my car towed TWICE in 2009, and was arrested for no insurance as it lapsed trying to keep up with the bills (driving my car and was pulled over) All while out of work with no money to spend on court!

While this is great for the unemployed that can get benefits, what about the ones who were pushed out of their jobs & lied about after wards so they could be denied benefits? Instead, we need HR 3149 Equal Employment For All act passed. This will stop the discriminatory practice of having YOUR personal & PRIVATE credit report used against you. That's what criminal background checks are for. Not someone who's lost their job, only to be caught in the catch 22 No Job=Bad Credit & Bad Credit=No Job.
I agree 100% A person's credit score should NOT be used against them in the job hunt process. Criminal background, OK but there are no more debtor's prisons and this minimum credit score to get a job = FICO 666 is the new Mark of the Beast from the book of Revelations !!!!!
kmkirb2, great idea, to stop the Catch 22 madness, the debtors' prison cruel illogic of hiring only those with money who have high credit scores (like lending only to those who don't need money -- in this era of post-bank bailout bank refusal to "trickle down" taxpayer bailout money to consumers) -- but both enactmens are needed -- Tier 5 and HR 3149.
I live in Virginia and we only have 3 tiers and Virginia do not have a tier 4 and I ran out of tier 3 on January 27, 2020 and I have been unemployed since December 2007 and I am 55 year old and it even harder at my age. Looking for work and really put strees on me physically and mentally. So please give us that been out of work a longtime please help
cbr6864- YES! IT WILL DO GOOD! An extension, be it 5++6++ means a stable environment not only for adults but children as well. It means less people claim bankruptcy, it means money back into the economy to keep others in their own job! Stopping funding of EUC Extensions would cause a major catastrophe. It is not too late for Washington to repair the damage- they only need to Extend Unemployment and take care of their own!

I agree that Tier 5 is necessary and than you very much for making this video. Unemployment Compensation needs to go on as long as the unemployment rate remains at nearly 20%. I am 55 and have not received 1 phone call or request for an interview even though I am applying for full time jobs that pay less than 1/2 of my former salary and part time jobs that I am overqualified for but perfectly willing to do. The jobs are not there. Fight back!!!

I agree that HR4213 is VERY important. It just needs to include help for those who have been going through the longest too! The video points out the lie Washington told the press that this extends "vital unemployment benefits to the end of 2010" That is playing fast & loose with the truth. In fact I call 25 Senators/ congressmen per day and even they were telling me that bill extends actual benefits not just dates to file - until I read the bill myself & called them on the lie!

I fully support HR4213 for what it does, but the one step at a time is the old Washington 2 step of getting nothing done at all. The long term unemployed are much worse off and cannot wait for Washington to piece meal this. I should be all part of the same bill and get it over with! Help folks before they become homeless because it is nearly impossible to find a job if you are homeless. The average senate pay in Washington is $170K per year + 1.25 million per diem per office- out of touch!

Good news to people from Pennsylvania, Im in my Tier 4 and I almost got a extra 26 Weeks but because I dont make enough money between my laid off day thru now , I dont get approval. but if you make money working part time or work in temporary jobs and make at least the money you make in 6 weeks of unemployment. The current extension through 2010 is for the eligibility dates only - this video is correct - it does NOTHING for the MILLIONS of long-term unemployed in this country. In fact, the Obama administration was just told to brace for high unemployment figures through 2011 because hiring is going to be at an all time low. Also, the current tax break for companies hiring unemployed is not high enough for it to make a difference. There definitely needs to be a Tier V Extension!

Great points on unemployment and older job seekers. The lack of job training programs for older americans and the total collapse of american manufacturing has led this nation down a path of misery. Unemployment benifits and many other benifits are empty promises from politicians seeking votes.

The 99rs are the ones who need the help with a Tier 5. They are eliminating the jobs because of these companies being evil and trying to kill off alot of the population. Call center after call center here in Oregon has left town or gone out of business. I want to work and no one will hire me because I use a walker. People that are handicapped the REAL unemployment rate is 300-350% or more. The Worksource Oregon people do not care at all. MSI laid me off in August of 2009 and it left town.

Unemployed need a Caucus in Congress. We represent about 10 million US Citizens which is a lot more than the Tea-Party. DEMOCRATS got us the unemployment benefits back. VOTE for Democrats. I run a website, Secrets I Never Told, where people anonymously submit their secrets. The day the senate denied the unemployment extension, secrets poured in from across the country.
Maybe I was ignorant or blindfolded, or a combination of both, but until I read all these secrets I had NO idea how many people this really effects. If this extension doesn't get passed I'm afraid this country is going to be lead into a downwards whirlwind...quickly.

I need a tear V extension. I would take a job if someone would offer me one. Even when I go on a interview they will not get back to me with a follow up letter. I have great references but nothing is working. I am willing to do anything I am physical cable of. I am disabled & no SSD for me.

Great speech. I myself barely got a job with WalFart only a week after my 99 weeks ran out. Yet I got a BSME* degree! *(Bachelors of Science of Mechanical Engineering) degree. I almost got hired at least on three occasions if not for the slow economy/Job freezes. So I've been there and done that and have heard countless stories about others who have been out of work for three+ years. I am upset our government will bailout companies and countries that should fail.

Bachelor degree in Business and IT. The only work available is substitute teaching, but I am only called approx two days a month since many retired teachers are entering into the substitute arena. Lost my house and filed bankruptcy in 2009. I realize the jobs are scarce, but I am starting to take this personal.

hello... My name is Patrick, I am a disabled vet who only learned one thing in the military but that trade is not useful out here in this world. I have been looking for jobs since 2008 but the only ones out there are heavy lifting for the most unless you a degree. I started going to school but then my unemployment stopped, now i am faced with not having a place for my family and i to live.. D.C. needs to do something and do it FAST!!!!!!!!!!!

I sure as hell don't feel like the economy is recuperating or growing. I feel it's worse than ever. I finally got a job been looking for about 2 years the only call back i got was fron US Census the only problem is that it's a temporairy thing. I want to school a couple years back for construction to better my life and added 10k to my student loans, but when I graduated the carpentry union stop accecpting applications. Carpentry Union will be taking apps this year so I hope this is the tuen around year for all unemployed. DON'T GET DISCOURAGE MY FELLOW AMERICANS WE WILL MAKE IT OUT OF THIS.

I know how you feel since I myself would be a 99er now if I hadn't worked at all in the last 2 Years, since it has been more than 99 Weeks since I last worked Full-Time (106 Weeks and counting) although since I have worked here and there, there have been certain weeks where I got either partial or no Unemployment Compensation so I'm only around Week 85 or so but my benefits will run out soon and I am worried what will happen afterwords

The only members of Congress who ever voted NO to these extensions were Republicans. Where is the Republican bill for extending unemployment benefits? Why are Democrats the only persons not only giving a damn but carrying 100% of the political weight of this issue?
Let me guess, there are no Republicans or conservatives jobless? Don't think so. One party should not have to bear the entire political burden of this issue. Not with so many Republican Senators having 10%+ unemployment.

I've been unemployed only twice in twelve years,and for only 2 or 3 months each time,since it was the slow time in construction.But now my job,as a residential electrician is non-existent my former co. that i worked 4 is gone.Their not building houses in Indiana.I'm far from lazy i got paid per house not by the hour,unlike congress i had to produce to earn a living.They should be paid the same,peacemeal then we'd see how much they get done when they really had to earn it.

I have been unemployed since November of 2006!!! I have gone back and forth between unemployment extensions and actually WORKING 40+ hrs/wk for foodstamps and cash assistance(less than unemployment pays). I have a wife and 2 kids and we have lost our car and our home. My unemployment pays $164/week and I am at the end of the last 6 week extension. My wife and I both have diplomas and some college education but we cant even find a job at McDonalds. We need TIER 5 NOW because the jobs aren't here!

I have just exhausted my Tier 4 Benefits and I have been looking for work since october of 2008. I have a 4 year Degree and I have actually applied and talked to every Fast Food, Grocery Store, Convient Store within a 50 mile radius on top of the 2,000 resumes that I have floating around out there... There are no extensions being passed. It is a continuance of already existing tiers. I am fortunate to have just started on tier 4 in Mississippi. Unfortunately I receive 181 a week, not much for a person whom has worked 25 years and has no savings, retirement and poor credit. Write your senators, congressmen daily. We have to push for additional tiers, without them we will have no money to spend and this spells certain economic crisis in the very near future. Bail out the banks with TARP? wrong

My Sister is suffering, she had foot surgery, collected disability, then collected unemployment, was denied an extension. She appealed I went to court with her & the judge said she needed to earn 40X her weekly benefit, he said she fell short -1,500 dllrs. I asked him when this rule started, he flipped through a large folder and said june 2008, she applied nov. 2008?? She has a family to support & is working 2 on-call jobs, surrendered 2 cars, we pick up food from local churces, next???

I just finished my tier 4 extension, had a p.t. job, lost it the end of jan. 2010, can not put in a new claim because I was 1099'd, this is the only job I could find & I took it.I feel that many employers bypassed me due to my bad credit, you get stuck in a catch 22!

When the extension took effect before Christmas I was quite elated, I couldn't get work thru the holiday season, even requesting snow shovelling and getting no where! I have now gone about 5 weeks without unemployment, and no good work leads, they keep assuring you they'll try and find something (staffing and temping agencies) I had my folks bail me out about three times in the 2 years plus. I am exasperated and nervous and anxious all at once. This is not good at all!!

I am on my last "tier". I have applied for at least over 1 hundred jobs. Had roughly 5 phone calls, 2 interviews. Still unemployed. I am trying my hardest to just " find a job". All I ask for is "A JOB", and or a tier 5 extension. The people that , say "us" the long term unemployed are not trying to find a job.. Try being on unemployment and suffer sometime. It sucks! I''ve worked all my life.I'm one of the millions scared of being homeless. I cry at night, and i pray.

If you are lazy but had steady work, it's still just as much a pain, if not more so. I felt I was on hiatus in a way, because when you're retired you're too old to do things you want...but at the same time, I have no money now to do what I want. I have less then $100 in the bank! All loaned too.

While this is great for the unemployed that can get benefits, what about the ones who were pushed out of their jobs & lied about after wards so they could be denied benefits? Instead, we need HR 3149 Equal Employment For All act passed. This will stop the discriminatory practice of having YOUR personal & PRIVATE credit report used against you. That's what criminal background checks are for. Not someone who's lost their job, only to be caught in the catch 22 No Job=Bad Credit & Bad Credit=No Job.

It means less people claim bankruptcy, it means money back into the economy to keep others in their own job! Stopping funding of EUC Extensions would cause a major catastrophe. It is not too late for Washington to repair the damage- they only need to Extend Unemployment and take care of their own!

I agree that Tier 5 is necessary and than you very much for making this video. Unemployment Compensation needs to go on as long as the unemployment rate remains at nearly 20%. I am 55 and have not received 1 phone call or request for an interview even though I am applying for full time jobs that pay less than 1/2 of my former salary and part time jobs that I am overqualified for but perfectly willing to do. The jobs are not there. Fight back!!!

I agree that HR4213 is VERY important. It just needs to include help for those who have been going through the longest too! The video points out the lie Washington told the press that this extends "vital unemployment benefits to the end of 2010" That is playing fast & loose with the truth. In fact I call 25 Senators/ congressmen per day and even they were telling me that bill extends actual benefits not just dates to file - until I read the bill myself & called them on the lie!

I fully support HR4213 for what it does, but the one step at a time is the old Washington 2 step of getting nothing done at all. The long term unemployed are much worse off and cannot wait for Washington to piece meal this. I should be all part of the same bill and get it over with! Help folks before they become homeless because it is nearly impossible to find a job if you are homeless. The average senate pay in Washington is $170K per year + 1.25 million per diem per office- out of touch!

Good news to people from Pennsylvania, Im in my Tier 4 and I almost got a extra 26 Weeks but because I dont make enough money between my laid off day thru now , I dont get approval. but if you make money working part time or work in temporary jobs and make at least the money you make in 6 weeks of unemployment. You are ok for extra 26 weeks. Check in you State, i called UN today and the law passed yesterday. Good Luck fellas

The current extension through 2010 is for the eligibility dates only - this video is correct - it does NOTHING for the MILLIONS of long-term unemployed in this country. In fact, the Obama administration was just told to brace for high unemployment figures through 2011 because hiring is going to be at an all time low. Also, the current tax break for companies hiring unemployed is not high enough for it to make a difference. There definitely needs to be a Tier V Extension!

This is a bipartisan problem created by the dems, and ignored by the repubs, the dems, pushed thru legislation to require banks to loan to people who could not pay and crashed the economy to guarantee the dems, would win the white house, now not only did they put everyone out of work they also want us to live in the dirt and learn to be peons for they're new world where the elite run everything and have all the money, Screw that crap I can vote and I still have my Guns, =)

@SPAMkiller2010 They want to do away with the "middle class" there used to be 3 classes, the high class, the middle class, and the low class. now there 2. they already did away with the low class, they are all homeless. now all the "middle class" will all be homeless! and there will be only the rich & the poor!

No I did not remove that post. The person who posted did. It says comment removed by author. I think the post by SPAMkiller2010 must have shammed jonnylingerie into removing whatever they wrote. I never even saw it. Better check my notifications and see what was said....
