  • Also sweet bass what kind is it

  • For me it really just depends on the song like many others. I mean its just preference. It shouldnt be frowned upon for using a pick.... like masturbating on an airplane xD

  • i use a pick if the band's bass player uses a pick. thats what MOST people do. hence, this is why this kid is playing with a pick. now everyone fuck off

  • Comment removed

  • i use a pick or fingers it all pretty much depends on the song for me. the sound or the speed

  • @SuperDuperHighMe Ya, Me too

  • it doesn't matter if u use a pick or your fingers. I am a pick player but i am just the same with a pick or my fingers. it just goes off personal prefrence

  • the bassist in my band uses a pick, and we're a Punk band :D

  • if you dont use a pick you get a smooth tone. you dont get the same attack and bite to the tone that you do with a pick and itd sound pretty poor with this music.

  • @TheSwoolley mike dirnt uses a pick for this song.

  • at the end of the day its the music which counts, its just preffrence with plek or not

  • I play pick and fingers stop hating idiots

  • does it really matter if someone uses a pick for bass or not?

  • @GuitarWarrior98 yeah it sounds different ,besides a truth bass player doesn´t use a pick....

  • @GuitarWarrior98 It kinda does, it sounds a bit differant doesnt it? (a good differant) so if you're playing a slow love song i assume no picks probably better haha :P but im all for picks! i use them all the time :P its better playing rock with a pick or punk

  • beautiful cover you re very good!!!

  • aweseom cover!!1 keep playing and post somemore :))

  • i honestly find this song hard as fuck to play with my fingers

  • I love Green Day so freaking much! Best band ever! And anyone who disagrees can suck it ;) And you did a great cover. :) <3 Keep it up. :D

  • great cover - 5/5 - very nice :)

  • hahah, ehm, my view of why people use picks or not while playin bass is because it give diffrents sound. so they who like jazz, reaage , blues and stuff usually like play with fingers and punk and metall dudes usually play with picks. When you have been playing for some times you won't bother if a guy playing with picks or not. You just do what sounds best because it is the sounds who counts not your look.

  • Watch my bass cover of this song!! click my channel!! thanks! it's a lot better

  • Picks>>> fingers.

  • only the cool bassists use picks :)

  • the majority of all my influences use picks while playing bass. Im a bass player and ive been using a pick ever since i started playing. so for all the haters shut the fuck up its just preference over using our fingers. and there is only of my influences who used his fingers and tht was Clifford Lee Burton. r.i.p dude.

BTW good cover even if you did fuck up 2/3 of the song through loll

  • that is the best cover ive ever seen still trying to play this llol

  • WTF!!!! 1:38 this part really sucks, 3/5 so try again...

  • yeh, i use a pick and so do loads of other bass players, and mike dirnt uses picks so that better shut u all up, considering green day are AWESOME!!!!!

  • Nice job man. 5/5 stars.

  • i like useing my fingers but your pretty good

  • good job, though you should try altenate picking. at 1:44 it would have sounded soooooooooooo much better with alternate picking and the sound would have flowed easier. also, the beggining is triplets. other than that i really enjoyed it : )

  • nice man, is ur bass a fender p bass special?

  • You're playing it wrong. The intro/chorus is filled with triplets.

  • Personally, I think bassist who use picks are probably more creative cause they expand the ways to play it. But either way is fine.

  • Well, the part after the chorus pretty sucks..

  • I respect pick players, but I'm just a finger person.

  • Your very good, I switch between playing with a pick and plucking, and I find that each style is Ideal for different songs, Green Day's bassist, Mike Dirnt, uses a pick, so I'd say most Green Day songs sound better when using a pick.

  • @stonedbassplayer9 i second. except im a much better finger-picker than picker so i tend to lean towards fingerpicking, but idve said the exact same thing

  • nice man good job

  • awesome job :DDDDD mind sending me the tab ? and i dont understand why people hate bassists who use picks. im a bassist and i learn the pick. it makes a clearer sound, and other than the moving of the left hand, is the only way you can identify that the bassist is actually playing cause when you use your fingers its not noticeable. and a lot of people use pick playing

  • great job for the most part

    some minor points:

alternate picking helps a ton (seeing as you are using a pick)

but the opening/main riff where the bass plays is triplets i think

  • i play with a pic in my band. it's no big deal. its a pick, you use it to play the guitar. stop thinkin your pro bc u don't use one. stay fresh!!....and junk

  • alot of good bassist use both like zack merratt from all time low

  • @Raisnghavoc Eh use whatever man, as long as you play for the love of playing...use your dick for all i care lmao

  • @Raisnghavoc dude i use my fingers and i play rock a lot

  • i think everyone needs to just calm he fuck down. everyone just needs to stop fighting over pointlessley over how he plays the bass. some ppl use picks some ppl dont. its not a big deal. and also, unless you learn this song from mike dirnt himself, chances are that your probably gonna have at least one mistake as little as it may be. so everyone just shut the fuck up and just enjoy some music.

  • What's the name of your bass? fender squier?

  • awesome, nice bass too... and who gives a shit if you use a pick or your fingers? its all still music right?

  • I use a pick and im a pretty good bassist myself... picks are awesome so dont hate on me, mike dirnt, or many other bassists that use them... :)

  • @XxGhostxElite like matt freeman of rancid he is the shit and he uses picks !!! i think green day is the best band ever and mike is awesome but i think matt freeman is better... :-3

  • a bit wrong

  • @ajd1992 well for starters on your profile it says your not a bassist either so how can you judge? yeah he hasnt got perfect timing here, but its not a terrible cover at all. and i am a bassist, so i can judge :)

  • nice bass cover. you even look like dirnt. and love the bass strap!

  • wrong wrong wrong

  • @ajd1992 ive seen green day 14 times. so dont push it buddy

  • Awsome !! Im trying to learnthis song on bass, was trying all day yesterday and i just cant get the right sound :/ so good job =D its sounds awsome :D

  • guy, you're amazing. i play bass too, and i really want to learn this song. do you by any chance know the tabs and can you PLEASE give them to me?

P.S. i use a pick most of the time too, so get off his ass. why dont you douches grow some balls and play this song yourself, and then try it without a pick.

  • alternate picking?

  • not really. I've seen 'em live. This is amazingly good. Parts are a bit off, but all in all it's damn near perfect.

  • For all you assholes out there who bag on bass players for using picks, shut the fuck up. Mike Dirnt, the bassist for Green Day, and more importantly, the bassist for this song uses a pick and i GUARANTEE Mike Dirnt is a better bass player than you'll ever be so shut up and give this kid a break. This is an amazing cover, being a bass player myself i love playing this song. Nice job man 5/5

  • @XtnaantX i have seen other bassists use picks like Mark Hoppus off blink 182

  • @XtnaantX i agree!!!!

  • @XtnaantX and paul mccartney the most iconic bass player in the world uses a pick

  • @XtnaantX krist novoselic used a pick. aswell as matt freeman, what more do ya need to say "hey, its awesome to use a pick too"

  • Put the pick down? Jesus man, is this the dark ages or something? Let the kid be.

Outbackjosh, if you think your so great. You play the song! Asshole!

  • sic dude, nice 1 btw i have the same bass but mines a 7 string

  • haha ur fucking retarded

  • @outbackjosiah It doesn't matter if you pick or finger. Its a bass.

  • yo can you send me the tabs to this song

  • nice cover!

  • Dude, nice job!

  • awesome dude awsome:D

  • can i get a tab 4 this

  • nice fender

  • Mike Dirnt=FTW You=ftw =)

  • did u improvise something at about 1:39? if u did it sounded brill bud

  • wow you rock!! and nice bass xD like the color you a the best to play minority on a cover i ever have seen [Viva la Green day! ]

  • that would be a Mike Dirnt bass or am I wrong?

    however, nice cover :) :)

  • no mikes is different model, it has diff body and scratch cover

  • you're right actually :) my bad :)

  • u r my idol

  • how does the bass show up in your video?? whenever i try to film myself playing bass, you can never hear the bass in the vid, even if there's no music in the background. how do you do it??

    this is rly good btw.

  • turn down your treble, up the bass and put the mid up a wee bit and it will sound great...too much fret noise, but other than that a good shout at a good song :)

  • The thinker by Rodin LOL

    Pretty good, nice job!

  • if it works for him then he should continue

  • i gotta be honest i thought this one was pretty hard for me on bass

you done real good :] 5*****

  • Great song...and good performance :) Bravo

  • awesome cover

  • i love your bass

  • thats awesome man

you should check out my covers

  • how the bass is meant to go like that

  • 5 Stars :D

can you give me the tabs?

  • normally i would agree but for the specific sound of green day, their bassist (mike dirnt) plays with a pick. which in all gives it the sound of it.

  • I dont think its too bad :) i actually think its quite good xD nice bass btw :)

  • How do you get your bass to sound so clean?

  • He uses a Pick

  • the pick

  • Tabs?

  • =O it´s perfect ..!!

    eres el mejOr men..!!!

  • not bad only did you try to fast forward over the f bomb to try to mute it out? itd probably have been fine if you left it, you see some of the other stuff on youtube

  • Very nice.

  • coolio =]

  • Good work dude! you look just like mike. about the pick question, i think you should use should always use a pick when playing greenday!

  • nice

  • LOL nice man!! xept ur arm is kind of tense half way threw the song and u can do better with the solo too!!!! overall 3/5

  • lol 4 sum reason whut i saw him playing i thought it actually was Mike dirnt in a kid version lol

    i feel so stupid

  • Hey I've been wanting to play bss but what is the difference b/w pick and fingers msg wit reply plz

  • Its just personal prefference, both ways sound different. Pick is harsher and fingers is softer and more bassy. Answer your question?

  • thx a lot and would it be better to learn both

  • nice :D

  • smexhy tone!!!! 5 stars!!! i love this bassline!

  • I love this bass!

  • Is that a Mike Dirnt Bass I see thar? Nice cover dude!

  • Holy shit dude, you're awesome! And do you know where I can get inexpensive bass lessons? I'm trying to learn to play. =]

  • realy good cover i awesome song

    XD

    yeah! \m/

  • Nice cover! And clean sound! I did spot the mistake, but it was barely noticeable!

    5 stars and favorited.

  • great cover

  • love this song :]

  • is mike ur fave bass dude guy lol????

  • very well done cover. i think its the best on youtube. dont listen to the assholes who say "playing with a pick is for pussys" i love playing with a pick, i love the sound. keep on rockin

  • bassists should definitely use picks, so many great basslines are from picks, just listen to the strokes or gnr, TOSSER.

  • pssh. it doesn't matter if you play with a pick. everything that matters is what's the most comfortable to the bassist her/himself.

  • your a idiot. playing with your fingers offers a very warm sound. playing with a pick offers a twangy tone, thats good for punk and very fast songs. playing with your fingers is for smooth and warm tones people play what they want to hear.

  • i actually think shooting fish in a barrel would be easier said than done

  • Funny thing is, you don't even have to aim. The shock from firing a couple rounds into a barrel filled with water is enough to kill the fish on the spot. Proved on Mythbusters.

  • you're special

playing with a pick is just as interesting as playing with fingers. if picks are boring, why is the guitar so popular?

  • cool

    sounds better with a pick

  • nice cover dude and nice bass

  • nice cover!

  • I think mike uses a pick anyways. I prefer to play with my fingers, but nothing wrong with pick.

  • i bet you don't even know how to play bass or guitar at all. plus what wrong with playing a pick

  • dude if u dont like green day dont listen to them or comment is that so hard?

go listen to ur metal shit or sumthing

  • as if ur the best, u sucker! remember many great bass players used to play with picks just like Duff McKagan of GNR, Dee Dee Ramone of The Ramones etc. It's their choice of playing and you cant do nothing, So shut the fuck up and stop posting comments on bassists using picks! instead show us your FINGER skills. dumbass!

  • the majority of awesome bass palyers use picks coz it sounds so much better.

  • if you were a real bass player you wouldnt care if they used a pick or not. atleast hes playing. john entwistle played with a pick and hes a god! some people like the sound. so shut the hell up

  • When you play the chorus, each tabs should be strummed 4 times, not 2.

  • you are good.I love this song

  • really good job i didn't catch when you messed up so i think you did perfect

  • not so good

  • good...really good!!!

  • it isn't a jazz bass. the body is of a precision.

  • o ya ur right guess i didn't get a good look at it before

  • its a deluxe xD

  • wow! you're really great!

(i wish i could play my bass that well!)

how long have you been playing for?

  • what is your bass?

  • i think it is a jazz bass

  • it's a fender p bass deluxe.

  • ok....when i tried recording some bass covers the camera wouldn't pick up the sound from my bass...anybody know why this happens and how i can fix it?

  • where can i find the tabs this guy used?

  • probs one of the best covers on youtube

  • great work

  • great cover ;)

  • is bass the hardest instrument for this song?, my freind can do the drums pretty easy , and the guitar is pathetically easy for me.

  • i think bass is kinda easy, you just must have a "good ear".

  • really?, wow thanks, tho... a freind recomended i try a practise with bass for a few hours then practise guitar again, he said i should find guitar alot easier and go alot further than. Is that cuz bass is more physical?

  • I don't really get what you mean. It doesn't seem like it would be easier to me as they are completely different instruments. They are used very differently in songs, and the bass only has 4 strings so if you get used to playing with 4 strings, when you try 6 its harder.

  • nevermind

  • yeah, the music matters... in this song bass is quite hard for newbies, but he DEFO does well.

  • this song is actually easier than it sounds to play

    but it does sound good

    well played

  • were do u get ur tabs dude?

  • Fender std mexico q ano????

  • To the morons who say "real players dont use picks". ...don't be so damn ignorant. Fingers and Picks = Two different playstyles, two different tones. Hell, Green Day wouldn't sound nearly as good with a bassist who uses their fingers.

  • wtf? real players play the bass it does not matter if u use fingers or a pick and most people say not to use a pick.

  • that's wat i ment, just i worded it wrongly...wat i mean is, real players use picks as well as fingering

  • well next time read what you wright b4 you post it

  • and so i shall, and maybe u should 2, with spelling and such...

  • spelling doe snot really matter. just as long as people understand what you are saying

  • mike dirnt uses a pick
