I am planning on studying Air traffic controller in the air force if i get the job. And i have been looking at different videos on youtube that give different General information. But this video gave a more realistic and more detailed information on the life of a ATC that i never thought of....Very informative and gave me a lot to think about....thank you so much for posting it!
I'm an ATCO and am currently involved in training of new ATCOs. I'd like to use this video for recruitment purposes, but am hesitant due to the lack of subtitles.
@MO81 im no expert but i have been studying aviation technologies for around 15 years, i remember reading somewhere that the sight of glasses, and hearing aids show an ACT recruiter that the person applying may have trouble hearing or seeing information. Thus Yes they will be looked over in loo of someone else. It's nothing personal its just the fact ATC is a job that requires EVERYTHING to be perfect. No Exceptions.
@FS98FSX I'm sorry, no type of diabetes is allowed for any type of pilot or air traffic controller. :( My father has diabetes (not sure which type) and he got diabetes just months after he received his soaring license.
@Deltapilot96 Well i hear Type 1 diabetics can have a Private Pilot licence and have type 1 diabetes i hear you can be a corporate jet pilot with diabetes also
@FS98FSX you are partially correct as stateted in the FAA medical Exam Guidlines a medical examiner must deny a pilot medical Certificate if he/she has diabete mellitus requiring hypoglycemic medication... so you can if your diabetes is not so severe.
I personally don't have the skills to do this work in real life but I have been doing it with flight simulator for 7 years and we follow very 95% of the rules that the real controllers do.
Thank you! I've been searching all over the web for something like this. I'm in Navy DEP right now getting ready to leave on the 31st of October (week & a half left) to be an air traffic controller and this was very helpful. I needed to hear what the lady was talking about, it put me at ease about the job. again thank you!
Great job on the video, and the interview, but you have got to work on that voice.

A student did this? Fascinating! You can tell a pro in the making from the homework he does.

And there are a few type 1 diabetics who fly for Air Canada.

@FS98FSX You may be right, but I doubt it. I don't think any flying school accepts diabetes, during the medical examination

Congratulations, you did a great job!!
Look, in the flight simulator, you used the Janet Aircraft? The texture is the same of the Janet...
It's the secrets planes which land at Area 51.
