I think this version is better. For one i think Barbra puts too much vibroto in her notes and it doesnt sound as good as it could. and two for everyone saying she doesn't have as much passion as Barb , who cares. One she's supposed to be auditioning for a solo, shes not going to pretend she just had her heart broken like in the original. and two she IS singing very passionately. Case in point shes crying at the end. I prefer this version

Wow, I don't get how people can compare Barbara Streisand to Lea. This was a good performance and heartfelt but Lea is just a baby . I was young to get into Ms. Streisand when I was a kid in the late 70's but now I've heard her music and her voice is gorgeous,strong and controlled along with her emotions. Every song she sings sounds like she intended for it to come out exactly that way. No mess ups. Maybe one day Lea... but never do a comparison, it's just disrespectful and you'll look stupid.

@broadwayjen1 I find the whole "legend" argument amusing. Lea is just now coming on to the scene. She may very well become a legend. It takes a lifetime for that to happen, and Lea's in her 20's. No one looked at Babs in her 20's and said "there's a legend". There is no comparison whatsoever. At least Lea is idolizing the right person. ;)

Wow, I don't get how people can compare Barbara Streisand to Lea. This was a good performance and heartfelt but Lea is just a baby . I was young to get into Ms. Streisand when I was a kid in the late 70's but now I've heard her music and her voice is gorgeous,strong and controlled along with her emotions. Every song she sings sounds like she intended for it to come out exactly that way. No mess ups. Maybe one day Lea... but never do a comparison, it's just disrespectful and you'll look stupid.

Well she only started on Broadway, so I think that's a good enough reason to be there... Hell, even Beyonce was there and just about the rest of Hollywood! As for her handlers trying to "hold her," like I mentioned before, she started on Broadway. And as far as failing, that is a difficult song to sing, and she still managed to sing it well. @WikeddTung Huh? I am not going to go into who's best of the two, but Lea Michele has a voice with a tremendous range, and an education that lets her make the most of it. She is a top singer. As good as Barbra? No, but denying that Michele has immense talent is a direct mistake. It would be like denying talent to Placido Domingo because Alfredo Kraus is better. Barbra may be the top of the tops, but Lea is among the best singers of her generation, there is no doubt about her being talented.

The difference between vocal talent and none at all can be seen comparing Gaga's version of Telephone with the Glee version. Just the voices of the Glee version make the song far, far better than the original. When singers improve average songs with their voices, that proves their talent.

Sure she sang other people's songs but she made them different than they were before. Like take Happy Days Are Here Again for example. It was a pop song before but Barbra turned it into a beautiful ballad. While Lea copies everything Barbra's ever done and makes it 1000 times worse than any other singer could. It's ok being inspired but copy?

No one said that Glee is trying to make Lea "The next Streisand" because Barbra is something special, but Lea is too, and Glee is just tributing Barbra as the outstanding performer and icon she really is. None of you Streisand lovers have watched glee? Lea crys every song she sings and sometimes its not even crying it watery eyes. The tears might just be real. And she didn't try to copy Barbra the people you know who tell her what to do did.. I'm sure they talked about it when Barbra met Lea and said she was very talented

Not that good, I mean its okay. The one thing I dont like is that she basically tries to copy Barbra. I mean if you're going to do a scene from a movie you like, try to make it original or different, or even put your own little spin on it, to make it fun. But anyways, good job Rachel...
