Why Vocational training in Schools is a bad idea ?

We do need vocational training in schools we cannot expect all students to go to college.

Thanks for your comments and watching the video. I know that it is not possible for everyone to go to college and in that case it makes sense to introduce vocational training in schools !

But this is a unfortunate state of students in our country. Ideally school should only for basic education and character building not preparing kids for industry.

May be someday we would see all students doing their college.

Well, don't you think that our kids are not already burdened enough ?

Making them go through 10 more trainings - out of which they might or might not find only 1 suitable later on, will just increase the burden.

Vocational Training sounds really good theoretically, but if you check the ground reality - it's not always helpful, rather most of the times its ineffective.

First of all thanks for your comments.

Given the widespread need of computer knowledge, I think it is no longer a vocational but a core subject.

Computer doesn't lessens but broaden your reach, hence I am in favor of that we introduce it at age of 10.

Anything that narrows student's options like more of specific/specialized trainings - I don't think its worth including unless the students are interested.

Hello Sashi,

Teaching computer knowledge itself a form of vocation training, NCC & Scout is another form of training imparted. I feel we have to make the above training compulsory from the age 10. I agree with you we need not add on other practical subjects which can be taught after 10th, in the form of diploma or ITI. Good presentation.
