He's one of the nicest guys around and killed it IN Soundgarden and Pearl Jam. Cameron did the early Pearl Jam demo's too and was the FIRST drummer technically.

The thing that is messed up is that Matt and Soundgarden stand out from the point of view of drums and odd time signature changes. The drums in SG are fantastic. But, in PJ, while Matt does a great job and his songwriting is a solid addition, there is so obviously a missing element since Dave A's departure.
Krusen was really great but could not handle playing everyday like that . Irons was good but fairly different . So there was a great talk to hire Pete Thomas of the attractions ( credited Vitalogy ) , and THAT could have been something , but Elvis Costello pressed the company to give a great sum of $ to keep him.
I don't believe that Matt is a bad drummer , it's just that in comparison to ALL the others and especially Dave he sounds like an uninspired drumbox ...

@lopeznige The band had to totally change their style to fit Jack's playing. Irons has no emotion, no groove and made them sound bland. Dave had the techinque, groove and emotion that totally suited PJ. Too bad Vedder couldn't see past his ego and realize how much talent Abbruzese had.
