Agreed. I just like to clean up as much as possible when I'm detecting. Sometimes it's a bear to carry out and sometimes it takes multiple trips......but I've made tidy little sum on scrap that I've dug up.
@digitalgt1 I have a nice pile o' scrap myself, but haven't turned it in yet. It seems like every time I look through it, I find something cool I missed or misidentified.
@digitalgt1 If I had my boat with me I would have hauled it out. But without it, it's impossible to carry all of the iron that turns up, and I don't like to toss anything on shore though I have seen many people do that. If I hear the pipe again (and I will), a quick tap with the magnet will id it. And for those without a magnet, it will slow them down ;)

Ya win some, ya lose some. But when you lose some, you take the piece of pipe with you not drop it back in the water. ;)
