I wouldn't be surprised if that's the reason why successful black men go for white women, but I'd need good evidence before I actually believed it to be true. That's not the ONLY explanation. There could be lots of different reasons.

Let me break it down: Money gives black men better options of partners. We no longer have to settle for the least difficult of the difficult ghetto black women. Money opens doors to women of value who are better looking, more nurturing, and easier to converse with - and these women happen to be NON-BLACK. Good-looking non-black women on your arm in public is a symbol of success (and maybe a bit of worldly status too), and black women cannot bring this to the table, generally speaking.

@shemika341 - I happen to live in a very diverse demographic and I belong to a gym where I work out several days a week. I rarely if ever see a BW there or jogging through the park. I always see them shopping in the mall, getting their hair and nails done or sitting in somebody's restaurant talking loudly. They seem to be overweight with low self esteem. They even try to fix their hair like WW. I don't know what's going on with BW. They are naturally beautiful and should stand tall and strong

I think you find black men who are successful with white women because white women are in the majority. They are the ones successful black men come across the higher they get careerwise. I think it is because there are far more white women than black women. I've found that White men marrying Black women is more successful then Black men marrying White women. My father is German and my Mother came from Africa to study in Germany for University. At one point they met each other and ever since then they have lived a wonderful life together. They even had two marriages, one in Germany and one in Africa for my mothers family. When I look at Black men-White women marriages, a lot of them are divorced couples that only had sexual chemistry while dating.

A man told me he liked me because I was "red boned" That was a major turn off. That was what attracted him to me. @skysoblu Real talk, getting in shape and loosing the weaves is just a cosmetic step. But it is what it is. Men are visual and like beautiful women. So at the very least, looking better & being more attractive will get you more attention from men. But keeping a man is different than getting a man. To keep a man, black women will have to change their attitudes about men & embrace feminine values like cooking, being pleasant/gentle, cleaning/domestic skills & learn how to be wives and mothers.

I don't think the issue is as clear cut as Tmot is making it. Some of the Black men pictured have been socialized around more whites than the average Black person. Lets be honest. If a Black child shows athletic promise at a young age (as young as elementary school) that child is recruited to largely white private schools where they are around mostly whites.

Money opens doors to women of value who are better looking, more nurturing, and easier to converse with - and these women happen to be NON-BLACK. @shemika341 - I happen to live in a very diverse demographic and I belong to a gym where I work out several days a week. I rarely if ever see a BW there or jogging through the park. I always see them shopping in the mall, getting their hair and nails done or sitting in somebody's restaurant talking loudly. They seem to be overweight with low self esteem. They even try to fix their hair like WW. I don't know what's going on with BW. They are naturally beautiful and should stand tall and strong

I think it is because there are far more white women than black women. The fact is, if you were to list all the Black men who are actors, or athletes who are married, you would find that MOST of them are indeed married to Black women. What is being implied is that most Black men who fit this description either marry white women, or feel that they need a white woman to validate their success. I certainly see a number of Black men who fit this "bill", but the numbers don't support that belief. For example, choose any roster of a pro sports team and you'll see the truth. Peace.

Brother. You are right. However, in my case, I'm a single Black man with my own business in Korea. I am in the high tech biz, robots and stuff like that. I am successful. I date Korean women. Why? If you can't be with the type you love, love the type you with. Doesn't matter race or color to me. FINE is FINE and I go with that. Michael Jackson even tried to erase his own black heritage by having kids via a white female with sperm donated by a white male. I'm seeing a lot of generalizations here in some of the comments. You should not put all black men in the same group. What about Denzel Washington, Samuel L. Jackson, Courtney Vance, Jay Z. I'm a white man and I've met three or four sistas in my life that I would have been PROUD to call my own. Unfortunately, I was a college student and didn't have any money or security to offer them.
Even if I had the money, the job, and the house, the one thing that always stuck in my mind was how I would be received by people on HER end of things! You can't marry a woman most of the time without marrying into her kin and their bigotry.

I've found that White men marrying Black women is more successful then Black men marrying White women. My father is German and my Mother came from Africa to study in Germany for University. At one point they met each other and ever since then they have lived a wonderful life together. They even had two marriages, one in Germany and one in Africa for my mothers family. When I look at Black men-White women marriages, a lot of them are divorced couples that only had sexual chemistry while dating.

A man told me he liked me because I was "red boned" That was a major turn off. That was what attracted him to me. To be honest, as a dark skinned man, that was really an insult to his dark skinned mother. People are not aware of the ignorance that comes out of their mouths based on sick beliefs. On the subject of women, I remember TMOT talking about single mothers raising thugs, why is this only a factor in black single mothers? @skysoblu Real talk, getting in shape and loosing the weaves is just a cosmetic step. But it is what it is. Men are visual and like beautiful women. So at the very least, looking better & being more attractive will get you more attention from men. But keeping a man is different than getting a man. To keep a man, black women will have to change their attitudes about men & embrace feminine values like cooking, being pleasant/gentle, cleaning/domestic skills & learn how to be wives and mothers.

But I think there is a deep cultural problem out there with women as a whole in western nations. From losing respect for men, from denying the role and desirability of a nurturer, and from denying the lack of accountability in faithfulness. My experience is worse within black women. Men are just marrying who are desirable, not hating.

I don't think the issue is as clear cut as Tmot is making it. Some of the Black men pictured have been socialized around more whites than the average Black person. Lets be honest. If a Black child shows athletic promise at a young age (as young as elementary school) that child is recruited to largely white private schools where they are around mostly whites.
