Hello and First i wanna say a very nice Video. When i was in the USA, i always wanna Drive to the Yellowstone. But my Brother says its a long Drive. We have to stay Overnight. My Brother Lives in the USA. I Hope one time i can be there before it Errupt. Greets from Germany
@2l841 : Thank you very much! I intend on going back and staying for longer, doing a better video study and perhaps working something 60-90 minutes in length
Yes, that it is. I intend on going back when I can. I spent about 3 weeks exploring Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons (see my other - Yellowstone & Grand Teton Overture) and I thoroughly loved it.
the only bad thing about yellowstone is that it has a supervolcano that will erupt in 100-10,000 years. but the park is very buetiful i went there last year.
You're welcome! It's one of the most peaceful movements from Holsts' Planets suite, so I felt that it went well with the footage. Thank you for taking the time to leave me a comment!
yellowstone is amazing i am going there on wednesday (july 30th 2008) i am so excited it is just amazing there i love it me and my family go there every year i am goting to be there for 2 weeks
very nice video..beautiful shots and slick editin too..i'm planning to be there with friends early May...is it good time to visit? did you stay at campgrounds?
In early May, it's a fairly good time to visit, the summer crowds haven't arrived yet, and you can still get the odd snowstorm or two, at which time if you enter the park you'll probably have it mostly to yourselves.
i did visit Yellowstone eventually...and what a place it was!! it was so amazing and seemed as if there was 3-4 national parks in one..early may was a great choice too! at times we had the whole area just for ourselves...and we saw all possible wildlife too, including a wolf hunt, bringing down two bisons!
Thanks for stopping by and viewing my video. Lots of great fly fishing in Yellowstone - you should have a great time. Watch out around this time of year, some of the bears are waking from hibernation and will be out & about.
No, not the Grand Canyon suite by Copeland - it's the 2nd movement of The Planets suite by Holst "Venus - the bringer of peace".
As for the wind sound, nothing can really be done other than to cut the background sound entirely - it's not a looping wind sound, those were just the natural sounds from that day.
The only filter I recall using was a Cokin circular polarizer, other then that it's all the natural unfiltered light from the day, and I didn't do any tweaking in Photoshop either. It was just a gorgeous sunset that day.
One last thing about the wind - I did keyframe the audio track and bring down the wind sound when it became too loud & obnoxious and I hoped the music would be enough of a cover to mask it sufficiently, but to keep a natural flavour I didn't want to eliminate the background sounds entirely.
Excellent video. If you add some narration, you could sell this video to the park as one of their promotional videos or something. I'm not suggesting that you do that, I'm just saying it's good enough that you could do that.
I need to take a drive through Yellowstone before winter really hits. Its been awhile since I've been up there. I only live 2 hours away and I never think about going anymore.
I'm sure you will enjoy it - in the height of summer tourist season do prepare for some heavy traffic inside the park. But Yellowstone is beautiful any time of the year. I'll be making a winter sojourn to Yellowstone this year.
I hope you find the time - my video really doesn't do the place justice. It's a place you need to visit in person, especially down toward the southern end where it butts up against Grand Teton to appreciate the beauty.
Thank you, your comments are very much appreciated.
I was staying at the Grizzly campground in West Yellowstone, so I always went in the West Yellowstone gate. Toured much, but not all of the park. Yosemite is my next stop later this year, as I am living about 2 hours away from it now.
I agree with you about Premiere Pro, but I have used Final Cut Pro as well and each has their +'s and -'s
The only part of the Premiere Pro suite I deplore is Encore DVD - I don't think they could have created a more non-intuitive interface if they had tried. DVD Studio Pro Rocks!
I went for solo walk when we first set up camp, and was'nt going too far because it was around dusk.Got to top of tree clustered hillside and saw a big thick tree trunk with BIG DEEP INDENTED CLAW PRINT!!! You never saw anyone run down a mountain hillside back to mom as fast as i did. I'm lucky i did'nt hit any tree on the way down. I spent my nights there in car!!! Still,i envy you a little, and you sound brave.
Thanks, I was at a safe viewing distance, sitting in my car viewing with binoculars. I've worked around big cats and bears in a captive setting before and I know how quick and dangerous they can be if they feel threatened in any way. They can move almost imperceptably fast.
It was still very nice to have a chance to view a bear in it's natural habitat, and her cubs as they played along the hillside.
I thought it was decent, a nice little video, good job! Yellowstone is a beautiful place!!! I visited Sheridan,Wyoming in the summer of 76,and even camped for a few days inside Yellowstone. My 1st time getting real close to a deer family, that was awesome to me!!!
Thank you, I spent about 2 weeks going to different places in Yellowstone gathering video. I have a longer (18 minute) video of geysers set to the 1812 overture that I will be uploading as soon as I can convert it to a reasonable size while preserving image and sound quality - I saw lots and lots of buffalo and elk, a few black bears and was lucky enough to spot a female grizzly with 2 cubs on a hillside
Thank you, I spent probably about 20 hours cutting this together in Premiere Pro, timing the clips to fit the piece of music I chose - I'll have more videos as my free time allows
nice music and vid, can't wait to see it again, haven't seen it since I was like 8 and it had such impact that now I've moved to Wy

Have you ever been to the badlands? My family is thinking about going either to Yellowstone or the badlands
Any suggestions?
darkshadow5x5 3 years ago
Yes, I've been to the badlands of South Dakota - they are interesting, but Yellowstone is more diverse.

glad i'm not the only one with wind problems -

fabulous videography - nice eye for cool shots - but i hear that same old "wind" sound occassionally - what CAN be done?
is that the Grand Canyon Suite?

Also, thank you for the nice compliments on the video work and editing - if you watch to the end there is credit given to the music et'c.

yup- saw it that time - i keep getting distracted by the photos - did you "filter" the sunset shots at all?
