he uses the left hand to cover the strings directly over the sound hole of the guitar, muting the strings with that pitch (you can mute anywhere on the fretboard but wouldnt get the same sounds) then he uses his right hand to quickly strum upwards from first string to sixth string. give the guitar body a couple of taps in time with the beat and keep playing. =]

No doubt Tommy is one of the best players on the planet. However, I much prefer the original Mason Williams verson. Tommy's version is loud, flamboyant, and what would be expected by a master showman.

when he hits a harmonic he pushes down on the body of the guitar and up on the headstock or peghead.....creates a whammy bar dive effect...Randy Rhoads did it all the time

All you gotta do is push down hard on the body of the guitar and push up on the headstock...just be careful...lots of people break their instruments buy doing this...be gentle and try not to do it to much if you have a bolt on neck (if your playin electric).

Also when you hit the harmonic you gotta act fast.....its a hard trick to pull off and do well...I haven't even perfected it yet
