Engineering excellence, the fastest plane ever with a breathable atmosphere in the cockpit. The only aircraft in the world that can run on full afterburners until it needs to refuel, never suffered a loss to the enemy, set 4 world records on its last flight flew at Mach 1.5 on its first. Flew for 18 years without losing an aircraft, longer than any other military aircraft. They survived around 4000 interception attempts and helped prevent a nuclear war. Kelly Johnson you have my respect.
Kelly Johnson was certainly one of the greatest aeronautical engineers of all time. But credit also has to go to Lockheed for creating the kind of environment for him where he could best use his talents. And also to MIT for giving an education with the highest standards. It shows what is possible under those conditions. All that is gone now. As an aeronautical engineer, it makes me sad. But I am grateful to have had the opportunity to live and work in those exciting days.
we are tole the SR71 Blackbird is mach 3. It could be much faster than mach 3. it could travel at mach 4 or mach 5. the makers of this aircraft are not going to tell everything about this aircraft.
Masterpiece of aviation!. The SR-71 is without a doubt the most incredible aircraft ever built by men. Even today, it still hold numerous records. I doubt its Resume will ever be topped.
Pause at 6:59, Kelly's in front of the chalkboard, where it reads on the lower right: "move out to Area 51" (at 4 o'clock in the morning, no less!) - what a priviledge to work on such a super-secret project! "Do it. I will give you the responsibility and I'll give you the authority - and I'll back you. But if you can't do the job, I'm gonna get rid of you." Now THAT'S how you lead.
I saw this at an air museum 6 years ago. I knew nothing then but I looked at it like "is this real?!". it looked like something from the future. I had to sneakily touch it as well haha. Amazing
@ollster1 The one at the Museum of Aviation in Warner Robbins,Ga is close enough to touch. In fact, you can rent out the facility and get married under the thing. Once i took my wife, 9 year old son and her 8 year old twins to the museum. I didn't notice a ladder had been left next to the SR-71. Being engrossed by the engine intakes, I didn't notice all three of them climbing up on top of the aircraft ! I have to dig up those pictures. They also have a D-21 drone and a U-2 there. All indoors.
UFO and mind reading/manipulation technology was developed by the nazis at the end of WW2 without any alien help
there is an extreme criminal orgonization working within high ranks of the US militariy waging psychological warfare against the general population pretending to be spiritual aliens and/or demonic forces
@mongoliancadet If you read up on the height it generally travels at, it would be a hell of a time dropping a bomb that far. It was frequenly over 70,000 feet / 20kms in the air - it's a long, long long way down to drop a bomb. Even 1 second off at that height could be 5ks off target when it hit the ground or so :/
At 6:59, if you look at what that guy was writing on the board and pause the video you can see something about Area 51 at the bottom. And that clip was filmed in the 60's or 50's wasn't it?
@zillajratomicray It seems to say that further testing will be done when the U-2 is moved to area 51. Area 51 is a large airbase that was used to develop top secret aircraft and high altitude balloons, thousands of people work there.
@Bullettube Yeah, but the existence of the base was denied for years. The workers faced years in prison if they gave anyone any information of their workplace. What else are they hiding from us?
A real modern marvel , the technological achievements in this airplane can not be matched by anything in that era or even the next 3 decades , everything was designed from zero level lot of money were spent on it , but the final result was amazing and outstanding .

@TIKIMAN198 I couldn't agree more. 20th Century America was amazing. Now, our country is ran by assholes who are under the impression that we are invincible.
@P3naz89 Reconn my ass, do you really think a jet of that caliber was simply used for pictures & video, I believe this jet was originally created for nuclear warfare. , look at how many they had, strategically placed around the world. timeline from date to end uncovers it's true MO.
@andy1w5jobas not sure if it's mentioned at all but they did actually make a prototype interceptor version but seeing how it flew faster than bullets and it's own missiles it wasn't ever in production i believe
Ah it had no weapons its a spy plane. Also we never went to war with the Russians so it worked.
