  • I dig your passion and the collection! Hopefully I can check it out one day.

  • did i see two copies of "Yesterday"... And Today?

  • I love 8-track!

  • are the 8- tracks only been used in the U.S., 'cause i have never seen them in the europe?

  • @overdriven77 You must be way too young to remember 8 tracks - they were ubiquitous all over the world 40 years ago

  • @DoojeenDoonican yeah, im 17 years old...................and i hate modern world technology

  • @overdriven77 -

I'm a 17-year-old American, and I've only ever seen one 8-track cartridge IRL, and I've never seen anything that plays them. I've heard, though, that they're pretty much the worst audio format. If you want the best quality, go with vinyl. Cassette tapes are pretty good as well.

  • @soaper4 thanks for taking time to reply

  • @soaper4

I'm a 20-year old American, and I have about 200 or 300 8 tracks AND have a stereo entertainment system to play them on. Most people hate them because the more you play them, the more the quality degrades, they get jammed up sometimes, the splices weaken and break after years of not being played and then being played again, you have to jiggle them to get them to play right. But they have a charm to them. There's just something satisfying about a physical piece of music.

  • @overdriven77

A relative of mine had an 8-track in his car, in the UK. I would guess around 30 years ago.

  • @Gimp1203 mk3 ford cortinas had them

  • was the rca changer at 1:22 from the 60s also? I have one just like it

  • Great Job Bucks! That Beatles collection is brilliant. The format collection is very cool as well. Spotted that B-52's 8-track...nice.

  • there cool but they sound like shit

  • @HappyJack176 they sound great when properly restored

  • Win.

  • 8-tracks here are rare!

  • Wow, that a place I would love to visit someday! Fold up 8-track? I never saw anything like it before. I wonder if it's playable?

  • This is amazing

  • i still use 8 track and i was born in the early 90s XD

  • Good luck to your museum.

  • If I go to Dallas I think I'll stop by.

  • good job Mr. Bucks

  • Please tell me you're a Discogs contributor...

  • Your voice is so relaxing. I played it in the background just now when I had to cook myself some sauerkraut and egg sandwiches.

  • I found this video from a link on NPR.

I recently purchased a Motorola AM / FM 8-track for my '70 VW Beetle restoration project. It came with a slip-in cassette adapter too.

I listened to my parents Vinyl and 8-tracks when I was growing up so there is a huge nostalgia / coolness factor for me. Now I just need to acquire some 8-tracks...

  • cool, vinyl is till the best though

  • Bucks, this is beyond cool! At Navy Radioman school a classmate had 8 Tracks of "Closer to Home", "Tommy"& "Jesus Christ, Superstar" he played constantly. Was many years later before I could listen to any of them again. Thanks for sharing this with all of us. :)
