I rooted my captivate after updating to 2.3.5. I couldnt use superoneclick. I used odin and got it to root. now my wifi isnt working. None of the wifi networks in the area are poping up. Seeing if anyone has a solution. It would be much appreciated.

Okay when i type: adb reboot download on my captivate, my captivate shows downloading for a long time, It won't let me restock the phone, it just stay at the downloading mode for a long time can you tell me what am i doing wrong? My phone makes a weird noise when I enter the adb download command and it removes the phone in odin. It goes back to readd the phone again and makes a weird noise and cannot add the phone again. Any ideas?

I tried to restore my backed up ClockWork ROM (which was stock 2.2) after installing nightly CM7, since I didn't realize it was unstable when I installed it. However, the backup wouldn't work, and it got my phone stuck at the boot screen, so I had to do this, which worked perfectly. However, I don't see Superuser anymore, so do I have to reroot the device if I want to go about flashing another ROM?
@koolkevinc Go straight into download mode and it'll work just fine. I'm guessing that when you just plug in the USB that ODIN doesn't do anything. That's what mine did. I just flashed back by going into download mode with ODIN running. Worked great.

@Dat5StillPoppin The one click is not available for SGS4G. Just use the ODIN video I have made and get the latest firmware for your phone from samfirmwaredotcom. You should be able to get it up and running!

I can't recall. It was my gf new phone and I wanted to root the device. Luckily we bought it last week and she pulled the innocent card at got it exchanged. I probably wont try again, she can go unrooted. I cdon't remember the build however the release was the ucb2 not 1 something like that

@TechN9neJr now press "Start", if it hangs at DO NOT TURN OFF TARGET for more than 3 minutes. Do this over again (i had to do it twice before it worked!) good luck!
@TechN9neJr hey hey, just try again, disconnect your phone and start over.(plug your USB cable into the back of the computer [2.0 USB port]) now Try this, take your battery out of your phone and take the usb cable out too, start the odin program, hold the volume + and - while placing the usb cable into the phone after that put your battery in. (Make sure your holding the + and - volume buttons the entire time.) now your phone will be in download mode and a com port will show in the Odin program,
I got to the reboot step, Odin showed the device removed...then it never came back up. My phone is stuck in download mode and I can't get my computer to detect it anymore.
Also whether the stock firmware was 2.1 or 2.2. Flashing 2.1 firmware on a captivate that had 2.2 (and vise versa) as stock would just cause the phone to reboot continuously.
For those stuck at "File Analysis/DO NOT TURN OFF TARGET": Be sure you have installed the correct drivers & determine which USB slot detects the phone before going into DOWNLOAD mode and when in DOWNLOAD mode. It is advisable to use a pc with ONE usb slot to prevent any confusion/hassle.
i cant get the yellow bar to show up at the beggeining when you plug in usb. I have usb debug on too. My computers not even recognizing anything when i plug it in.

soft bricked my phone doing this. not from anything you did but because the usb connection on the front of my pc was a teeny tiny bit loose so odin lost it in the middle of working. finally got it into download mode and plugged it in a more firm slot in the back (dont use it so its a tighter fit) and it worked perfect. the usb connection on the computer itself might be whats causing some people problems. just thought id share. used your methods to go from JF6 to KB1. donated btw. ;)
I am currently running Firefly 3.0, i want to try a GB Rom, so when I got my Captivate from Roges it was stock 2.2, does that mean i should download odin stock 2.2 JL6?
When I do this, and I have done it many times. The Phone just goes to the att boot screen and then a battery screen and it just cycles through the battery screen. I pull the battery and use my jig (thanks!) and start again but its the same story. can you offer any help please and thank you!

I've been following all you videos for my captivate to a T. And I can not revert my phone to stock using this video. As soon and i type in adb reboot download my phone will go into download mode and odin with remove my phone, but it will not re-add my phone. I'm thinking it has to do something with my SDK tools but i no wize at this can you please help me?
great great video! i know that you said all the files are still on the internal sd card after flashing back to stock, are contacts, phone numbers, picture ids and stuff like that still on the phone as well or do they get deleted after flashing?

@jordan2002100 There is a 2.2 installer but it would put the at&t firmware on the phone. You need to watch my other ODIN video and find the appropriate pit and pda files for the rogers firmware you want.
@MobileTechVideos I also have a Question, im on the recently released froyo from at&t but i want to flash custom roms can you walk me through? or is it the same old process i would do with 2.1?
@JetBlackYZFR1 The problem I was having was the phone was getting locked in landscape mode... Using the horizontal calibration tool under settings ->display solved the problem... Lay the phone flat on it's back and hit calibrate.
@JetBlackYZFR1 Actually this did not help after all... I had to just revert back to 2.1 because of the bugs with 2.2 on my captivate. "Desk Home" application keep popping up as home screen and won't go away. It also locks in horizontal mode... Oh well 2.1 is not bad. Maybe I'll root it for fun... -)

I have the captivate with 2.2 Froyo. Is there anyway i can get back to 2.1 Eclair. My build is a JI6 and i want to install a custom 2.2 rom with gingerbread. someone said that the 3e recovery doesnt let you reinstall applications for protection purposes. So is there anyway i can get back to Eclair
@TxFrankyTx Just buy or make a JIG it is easy to get out of. I labeled it just Captivate as it's only meant for that phone. Sorry! I have JIGS for just $8.00 at my site or I have a video to teach you to make your own.
I have a problem>> I have backed up on odin the original as you said and have serendipity 5.6 installed...Well bad news my hard drive on my computer died and I lost the backup..What that means is I can't go back to 2.1 even if I wanted to...Any thoughts?

Hey guys, have to ask u something so please if u know reply. I was trying to do the OTA update to JH7 from One click Odin. Kies was not working for me I have win 7 64 and sometimes kies has a problem but that can be fixed. Anyway, I lost connection from 3g for OTA and pressed on cancel at about 50% Captivate said it will reboot and shut down and now does not boot up at all. I cant even enter download mode. What do I do. Please advise. Thanks.
@MobileTechVideos Nope. Can't even use ADB. I think it's completely bricked. Just got back from AT&T. They will ship me a refurbished one. Hopefully its close to being new. It's because of Samsung and AT&T all of us have to resort to changing roms. Which is not bad if u know what to do and I knew what and how to do it. I guess we all learned a valuable lesson. Never do FOTA update again. Do it through a computer. Hey Josh, how do u acquire that many phones? U buy them unlocked and used? Thanks.
@PhotonicDoctor If the phone will not even power on at all the boot loader is bricked. I'm buying a machine to restore even devices in that condition as well and will be offering the service for $55 with free return shipping. The device will be here on Wednesday and there is no charge other than shipping if a device is unfixable. If you want to wait it out I can probably fix it. And I work for a company that has like 50 of them so I have spares to play with!

@PhotonicDoctor It's a pretty in depth procedure but yes anyone could buy one for around $300.00. You have to remove the motherboard from the device and solder leads onto it and use and advanced program to reflash the boot loader. I followed everythin exactly as you showed. But when I try to enter download mode via abd reboot download. Odin doesn't reconect with the phone. So my phone is in download mode attached to the computer but odin, or my computer will not connect with it.
people told me that i should try to get it into download mode ( i have finally ) and im pretty sure i had USB debugging on before it brick'd....but now what ? i have no clue what to do now cause when i connect it to the pc nothing happens :S
@DarelSteilz Have you seen my video for getting into download mode? You must have the ODIN 1 click running before you attach the phone to the pc. How are you currently achieving download mode.

This for upgrading to to 2.2 if you want to use it like that. The 2.2 link is included. If you are freezing at that point, then you are not following the steps in exact order. Try to follow them in exact order.
dumb question - i'm in canada and would like to go back to rogers firmware. Should i go to stock first with odin, then upload a rogers rom (I found it on xda)? Thanks and great video! Your channel's amazingly helpful!!

For those stuck at "File Analysis/DO NOT TURN OFF TARGET": Be sure you have installed the correct drivers & determine which USB slot detects the phone before going into DOWNLOAD mode and when in DOWNLOAD mode. It is advisable to use a pc with ONE usb slot to prevent any confusion/hassle.

soft bricked my phone doing this. not from anything you did but because the usb connection on the front of my pc was a teeny tiny bit loose so odin lost it in the middle of working. finally got it into download mode and plugged it in a more firm slot in the back (dont use it so its a tighter fit) and it worked perfect. the usb connection on the computer itself might be whats causing some people problems. just thought id share. used your methods to go from JF6 to KB1. donated btw. ;)

When I do this, and I have done it many times. The Phone just goes to the att boot screen and then a battery screen and it just cycles through the battery screen. I pull the battery and use my jig (thanks!) and start again but its the same story. can you offer any help please and thank you!

I've been following all you videos for my captivate to a T. And I can not revert my phone to stock using this video. As soon and i type in adb reboot download my phone will go into download mode and odin with remove my phone, but it will not re-add my phone. I'm thinking it has to do something with my SDK tools but i no wize at this can you please help me?

The 'adb' has been moved to '/platform-tools'
also, easier way to get to adb in command prompt is going to the file in the c drive, right click and select 'open in command prompt'

@jordan2002100 There is a 2.2 installer but it would put the at&t firmware on the phone. You need to watch my other ODIN video and find the appropriate pit and pda files for the rogers firmware you want.

@JetBlackYZFR1 The problem I was having was the phone was getting locked in landscape mode... Using the horizontal calibration tool under settings ->display solved the problem... Lay the phone flat on it's back and hit calibrate.

@JetBlackYZFR1 Actually this did not help after all... I had to just revert back to 2.1 because of the bugs with 2.2 on my captivate. "Desk Home" application keep popping up as home screen and won't go away. It also locks in horizontal mode... Oh well 2.1 is not bad. Maybe I'll root it for fun... -)

Odin won't see my phone. I watched the SDK video. Now i'm onto this step. I entered the reboot download command, and it saw my phone when it wasn't in download mode, but when I put it to download it won't see my phone.

Hey guys, have to ask u something so please if u know reply. I was trying to do the OTA update to JH7 from One click Odin. Kies was not working for me I have win 7 64 and sometimes kies has a problem but that can be fixed. Anyway, I lost connection from 3g for OTA and pressed on cancel at about 50% Captivate said it will reboot and shut down and now does not boot up at all. I cant even enter download mode. What do I do. Please advise. Thanks.

@MobileTechVideos Nope. Can't even use ADB. I think it's completely bricked. Just got back from AT&T. They will ship me a refurbished one. Hopefully its close to being new. It's because of Samsung and AT&T all of us have to resort to changing roms. Which is not bad if u know what to do and I knew what and how to do it. I guess we all learned a valuable lesson. Never do FOTA update again. Do it through a computer. Hey Josh, how do u acquire that many phones? U buy them unlocked and used? Thanks.

@PhotonicDoctor If the phone will not even power on at all the boot loader is bricked. I'm buying a machine to restore even devices in that condition as well and will be offering the service for $55 with free return shipping. The device will be here on Wednesday and there is no charge other than shipping if a device is unfixable. If you want to wait it out I can probably fix it. And I work for a company that has like 50 of them so I have spares to play with!

@PhotonicDoctor It's a pretty in depth procedure but yes anyone could buy one for around $300.00. You have to remove the motherboard from the device and solder leads onto it and use and advanced program to reflash the boot loader. This for upgrading to to 2.2 if you want to use it like that. The 2.2 link is included. If you are freezing at that point, then you are not following the steps in exact order. Try to follow them in exact order.

Quick question, might be a noob question but here goes. I'm able to get my phone into recovery mode with the following options
-reboot system now(which reboots and takes me back to the same screen)
-reinstall packages(which doesnt work)
-delete all user data
-delete cache data
i used odin 1 click while i was in download mode and it brought me back to recovery mode. if anyone could help out that would be awesome. :/
