In this vid does the siren have a timer because in one of your other vids on your soccerdude account the cycles are shorter and you are doing them manualy
Pity I don't live somewhere where there's tornados, or floods. Maybe if I move somewhere that floods a bit often... I could build an electronic siren to warn the residents.
Im just pulling your leg.. I got one of these things in my front yard. Its for Fire and it goes off 5 times a day. I have grown to hate sirens! Oh and sorry for the grammer ...I went to school in Tennessee!
Maybe but with all respect i dont have a huge air raid siren strapped to the side of my house. Im not so board with my life im making 8:33 second videos of a siren!lol
@symbolsofchange So what? That's what he does and he likes it. Its not a waste of time he's saving lives, while your sitting on your ass making smartass comments to the guy when he didn't do anything to you. I'm no trying to start anything, but you're a real dumbass.
@symbolsofchange It' not exactly huge nor is it strapped to the side of my house. Nor is it actually attached to my house. The videos are for your viewing pleasure. I post them here so that they may be seen by anyone who wishes to view them, you have the option to watch them or not.
I should also point out that you have several grammatically incorrect errors in your last few posts.
I would shoot a be be gun at it until it blew up! Or maybe i would throw a big glob of Big League chew in it and watch it blow a three minute bubble that even Willy Wonka would be proud of! Maybe fling a big stick in it and watch it do an endo!
Its a "hey look at us where special system" Why wouldnt you leave that up to your county? Oh thats right TN doesnt give a shit about there people with no health insurance for the poor, lack of work, high arrest rates im sure over bullshit and last but not least ...a emergency warning system for residents in danger of severe storms and such.... Yeah well....shit the bed Barny fife your my new Hero of the day....Still glad where not neighbors!
@symbolsofchange It isn't a "toy"... it's an outdoor warning system. Our neighbors are very appreciative of the system since its placement in March 2009. Also setting a residence on fire is considered arson and is a felony.
omg my ears hurt now. this is worse than smoke alarm at home. i think my computers speakers r gonna break. how do people live in tornado ally where they hear this all the time?!?!
@BvilleStormChaser The control timer inside the building it sits on is set to let it run for 3 minutes per activation. I usually let it go off every 10 minutes that a tornado warning is in effect. Seems like many cities around here are beginning to go on that type of schedule, so I decided to follow along.
shit that flood that hit us here in dickson and the rest of the state was a bad week lol cant wait for tornado season this year here in dickson county
@49thdevil Indeed! Water was everywhere and some of the roads were even flooded. Highway 48 N going towards Charlotte was pretty treacherous getting back home on May 1st. I called off the chase that day just in time before my road became impassable.
my house sure warned me, so i went inside to check the weather radio and sure enough, a tornado warning was issued for maitland florida. i guess i have to thank that stupid federal signal 2001
Would be more effective to get everyone to use SAME capable wx radios. instead of running your own siren yes it wakes people up but then they wouldnt know what going on and in the confusion they would lose valuble time in understanding whats going on then acting on it. And no comments to me about losing someone cuz they didnt hear sirens.. everyone close to me knows well in advance of impending severe weather and are ready for it.
@K4SWX When you live in the Midwest and that siren goes off you already know what to do...There is no loss in valuble time in understanding whats going on". Thoes sirens mean crap your pants and take cover cause something nasty is coming your way...lol. Well at least that is what they mean in Ohio.
@K4SWX Thats all that matters anyway is that Your close 1s know what to do. Wouldn't wanna bother any1 with a tornado siren. They could be late for work or something. I know I slept right thru the 1 that hit Murfreesboro but probably cause I live in Johnson City
I remember that........! THATS WHY WE HAD THE FLOODING!!!!! gosh darnit lol i was SPAZZING out! The Tornado hit Rivergate though. 10 min from where i live
@TheMikalhip It was on the ground for nearly 150 miles, until it came near our city. We dodged a huge bullet..and got very lucky. We just got some of the wind, hail, and most of all, torrential rains (which caused all of the flooding).
@JJGeneral1 Yeah, I have an AF timer on mine. It's the yellow box with the civil defense logo on it with 4-5 buttons as the controls, with a rotating cam shaft, relays and lots of wiring. You can set it off in steady or wail for 3 minutes. There is also a "fire" signal, which is set as a 2 minute wail. Your fire hall may have the same or a similar device running the siren.
@Siren40vt You'll have to talk to your EMA, local police department or fire department. If you live outside of the city limits then most of the time it won't matter. Would be best to let your neighbors know about it, as I have.
@Thunderbolt1000T We sure are! Once we can get the mounting flange to mount the head on the blower it'll go up. It will alsou use Attack mode for tornadoes, and will sound both signals for testing. My goal is to try to get on the same system as the city is, that means getting a compatible controller and obtaining the operating frequency and tone codes. However if that doesn't work out I've still got the telephone activation system.
@Busdude97 This one is mine. I've got 6 more out in the shop in my collection, one is going to be installed behind the shop this year, which is at least 10 times louder than this one. I set the siren off every time a tornado warning is issued for our area.
Thanks for putting up the clip. I live in PA, so I can only imagine how eerie it must be to hear those sirens at night.....with any visual difficult at night. Could you by chance tell me if there was any flooding in the area of Maysville Road in Dickson? I have a friend who lives there and no contact from them yet.
Don't worry about all the negative comments they will be the first ones crying and asking why when they or there family is affected by a severe storm.Keep it up wish there were more people like you in the world!!!
Sounds good Charlie. Our Whelens in Tullahoma got a good little workout Saturday afternoon during a round of tornado warnings. The flooding sure is a mess!!
5:06 in the mornin and if i lived in dickson i would be yelling and cutting the power wires to the siren and possably be saying " shut the fuckin hell up loud mouth hore!"
@train2589 Then you would most likely get injured/killed by just trying to get the siren to stop. Nice move bud.
Sirens are there for a reason, they are in place to help protect the people who live in the range of it and give an early warning to hunker in the bunker well before the tornado gets to you.
@train2589 Wow.... seriously?! Tornado sirens save your life, jackass. Living in Tennessee, I have heard them many times. They save lives every day during tornado season.
@Blue10AEMia It sure is, I was beginning to believe that this year was a bust but it turns out that mother nature really did have some tricks up her sleeve.
@StormChaseTN It's funny because it has been a huge bust here in Oklahoma where it is really active this time of year. Everything has been east of here. It looks like this is going to be the second year in a row that severe wx is quiet here unless it gets better in mid or late May. We're in a zonal flow right now, so nothing is going to happen here soon.
@StormChaseTN I was the same way Charlie and then the last 2 weeks have been very active. Our Whelens here in Tullahoma got a good workout Saturday afternoon during a host of tornado warnings for the area. The flooding is a horrible mess and my prayers go out to the people who have lost everything.
@videogamer24385 Knowing that since you also have a siren of your own, you'd most likely do the same thing if you had a tornado headed your way. Even if it was 5AM in the morning.
@FFTEX55 That's exactly right! We haven't seen any of that particular mess but the flooding is a real problem here in Dickson. Hopefully this stuff will be gone faster than it came.
