@CallofdutyWiifan Are you 9??? follow this road, I´m 41 and start listenig Rush in the late 70´s at about 10, now my son is 8 and he start hearing Rush since he wasn´t born yet and and keeps enjoying them
This is a somewhat better performance and arrangement than the one on All the World's a Stage, IMO. I like how Geddy added the Taurus pedals and Neil keeps the rhythm differently on the hi hat in one for the guitar solos.
I lived a few miles from this venue, but had not heard of Rush yet in '76. I finally saw them in '81, but would love to have caught them earlier.
Another great tune that reminds me of a sweet little lady I knew. The park though, was called Emerson Park. Ahhh, the memories of summer time in that park with her are wonderful! Music has such a moving, ethereal feeling to evoke warm memories.
My favorite Rush album is Moving Pictures.Tom Sawyer,YYZ,Limelight, yeah baby! Sad thing is,I never got to see Rush in concert. Now I do not go to concerts but that's ok.if it's any consolation,I did see Frank Marino and Mahoghany Rush.Does that count? LOL!
My favorite song off Caress of Steel. I'm kinda bipolar with that album though because it used to be The Necromancer... After all, every song on it is perfect... Just like every '70s Rush album.
I live there it's in port dalhousie st Catharines it sucks it's gonna look bad soon there putting in condos right in the best part :( still the best place to live:)
Though i never been to this lakeside park cuz im in cali, i wish to go there sumday, but this song is still nice cuz it talks of memories of goin places like parks, gud times........
This is the very first rock song that I listened to. I received Caress of Steel for Xmas in 76. Guess what!!!! i still have the album and I still know every word to this classic song.
I have been a Rush fan since 77. Always loved the band. I however was not a fan of Neils lyrics. He`s had some great moments and this is truly one of them. Great lyrics here. True to life and very musical. Sound great when sung. Awesome.
Its hard to believe that they are all around 22-23 years old in this video and they already 4 studio albums released. My 3 favorite bands in the whole world - Yes, Rush and Heart - are not yet in the RROF. It doesnt make any sense.
Rush isn't in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for the same reason that Howard Roark was ignored and misunderstood through his life (in the novel The Fountainhead). The proles can't understand Rush because Rush didn't conform. Society always punishes those who don't conform.
@cocovation this was filmed at memorial auditorium right off route 36 at the stanford avenue exit. the building was torn down in 1982 to make way for some underground tiling.
Try playing Lee's bass lines (and singing) simultaneously, Lifeson's guitar riffs/arpeggios and solos, and finally Peart's syncopated drum rhythms. None of the above is easy to perform.

Everyone would gather on the 24th of May sitting in the sand to watch the fire works display . Dancing fires on the beach , singing songs together , though it's just a memory , some memories last forever !........ Well said Geddy !
the guitarist is fuckin sick but the singer really kind of blows. the cd version of this is 6 million times better because the singing sounds way better. also, the last half of this song is kind of unneccesary. i know this will get a lot of thumbs down but i heard this song from a snowboarding video way back when i was a kid and just giving my opinion on this live version
this reminds me of whonock lake i was with a bunch of friends she lives like a block away and we went to a park on a lake and i was blasting this on ipod speakers it seemed kinda fitting and there was a camp fire at fitted with dancing fires on the beach
Niel Peart is such a genius "a pocket full of silver" not nickels or dimes, witch is what It probably was. He new the song would remain timeless. Yea and Fuck the RRHOF madonna made it in over Metallica not that Metallica's worth a crap since Cilff Died..... anyfuckinway better be on your own then in bad company. P.S RUN DMC should not be in there but ease up, they still kick ass... YA close minded Racist.
Music from Rush's most under rated yet greatest album ever,Caress of Steel. The album where they created a whole new style of music-high energy hard progressive rock using just guitar, bass and drums(and of course one of the most high energy vocals from Geddy in history).
Wait, Rush isn't in the Hall of fame, in the town that put them on the map? Now I know a hall of fame for music is absolutely pointless. Who gives a rats ass if a shrine is built around rock and roll artifacts. The real artifacts are a groups vinyl pressings that are readily available still. That and all of the very exciting audio and video that is pretty much 'zero admission' on youtube. Thanks for posting people.
@badboybob1074 songs i question if geddy can pull off:Beneath, Between, and Behind, Fly by night, Anthem, Finding My Way, Circumstances...and most of the early stuff
@PeeceSells He probably could pull any of the old stuff off. But it's either they choose not to or that even Geddy knows that he sing those songs like he could back in the day. You know they do "Resist" and the cover "Heart Full Of Full" unplugged they should put "Rivendell" in that portion too.
The RRHOF is proof you don't need talent to be accepted by fools! RUSH has always done it their way and that proves they have integrity to their own musical vision. Practically every week there is some awards show to honor this, that or the other thing that is important to people who obsess over talentless endevor. THE AUDIOCONSTRUCT has spoken. All adjourn! LOL
Man this brings back the best memories of growing up in Toronto. Along with 2112, my fav Rush track though I love everything up through Moving Pictures. I'm so glad to see a lot of young rockers on here. Sorry you didn't get to see them in their "prime" but look on the brightside, you're fucking young! Go see Porcupine Tree, they're still in their prime, and amazing!!!!!!!
@0neLittleVictory Caress of Steel was their third album. It was disregarded by the citics as bad and the supporting tour was called the "Down the tubes tour", but they came back with 2112 after and redeemed themselves in the eyes of the music label they were signed with. RUSH was proud of the COS album and I never figured out why it was never accepted. You can see the evolution of their vision begin to emerge on that release.
I read what I wrote from a fan site I visited, and I saw the Beyond the Lighted Stage a week after, so I guess I got that from a guy who watched it first. In any case COS has been on of my favorites, I'm 54 so I go all the way back to the bands inception. After I watched the documentary I liked RUSH even more because they all seem like real regular people that did it right. PEECESELLS "But who's buying"
after this long i hope they send midget emissaries from the great white north to accept the award, we know they will always be rock roll roots the {Alex Haley) of rock genres. they created there own genre of music so where is the Rush hall of fame? duh, its right next to Lakeside Park!
Madonna is in the Rock and Roll hall of fame, the Clash, and so on. Rush is in a league of their very own, a fucking awesome one! So fuck the establishment....Rush Rocks!
Caress of Stell was they're best album! Always thought Geddy Lee should have got a cameo part in Lord of the Rings. They're early stuff was so influanced by Tolken. AND I think Geddy would have made a great Elven King.
joshcop69, No Shit! There are so many morons in the Rock and Roll Hall of fame that it's nothing short of a joke! Run DMC, John Cougar Mellencamp, JOHN COUGAR MELLENCAMP??? WTF? If it wasn't so sad I'd laugh...
FANTASTIC video. But to add my .02 to the "Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame" comments... if Run DMC is actually IN the Hall already like some people have said out here, then I hope to god Rush NEVER makes it in. I don't want the MOST TALENTED ROCK BAND EVER to have ANY association with such a fu*king JOKE of a group as Run DMC, NOR any "hall of fame" that would appoint a bunch of knuckle-dragging 'hood rats that never played any real instruments anyway, but just spit rhymes and Ebonics terms.
@joshcop69 Fuck the "Mall of Lame". It's the most uncool shithole imaginable. The fag Jann Wenner only puts in bands he had a crush on. I'm glad they're putting rappers in there, hopefully that will lead to it being looted and destroyed. Rap fans are good at looting and wrecking things. Let that dump be overrun by Run DMC fans!
Rush has been (in my obviously very biased opinion) one of the few viable rocks bands on the scene for the past decade and a half. 15 consecutive gold, 13 platinum, a sell-out in every arena they play, and still not in the Hall of Fame. I feel they're the most successful band in the history of rock and roll. There's not another band who's been around longer than they've been without ever breaking up and/or changing band members.
@joshcop69 Rush has been (in my obviously very biased opinion) one of the few viable rocks bands on the scene for the past decade and a half. 15 consecutive gold, 13 platinum, a sell-out in every arena they play, and still not in the Hall of Fame. neurolinguistic(lol) "Geddy" Lee's voice sounds like a gitar, how ironic he also plays the bass. as an ignorant teen of the 80's I always pictured him with some blood red gitar with silver strings.
r & r hall of shame believes that rock and roll is lyp-synching performers with choregraphed background dancers all dressed in the same clothes.
if you you have that , your in.
writing/reading music, singing or playing an instrument is not a requirement for rock and roll see run-dmc , I guess if madonna is in ....how long you think before they put brittanie speer in the real shame would be if rush were to associate with those douches
damn that what ive been saying u are all right in my book. this band is my favorite band ever seen them 7 times and they never dissapoint.peace to all
@zachharbi good deeds go unnoticed by morons, bad deeds are perceived good and thus rush will always be obscure, but better than the rest they waded through the media crap and pc ism.
Agree with the Hall comments. Another criminal omission is Todd Rundgren. Not sure what's behind guys like him and Rush being snubbed, while MADONNA (rock and roll?) slides in.
@zachharbi let rush tell em no thank you...there should be a Rush Hall of Fame..that other bands want to get into...when youve been making the greatest music for 25 years or more
moving to "We'd like to do for you side one of our latest album, this is called 2112." Wow! where the heck have the years gone? Thank you for putting this up!
Love Neil's drum sound, up to Moving Pictures that was his best drum sound in my opinion.

RIGHT LET'S STOP MESSING ABOUT!!
Try playing Lee's bass lines (and singing) simultaneously, Lifeson's guitar riffs/arpeggios and solos, and finally Peart's syncopated drum rhythms. None of the above is easy to perform.
The "musicians" in many of the so-called bands of today would be completely and utterly out of their depth i.e. bands like say McFly or U2. Rush's complicated awesome music could well be described as being on a "timeless wavelength"!!

I don't want the MOST TALENTED ROCK BAND EVER to have ANY association with such a fu*king JOKE of a group as Run DMC, NOR any "hall of fame" that would appoint a bunch of knuckle-dragging 'hood rats that never played any real instruments anyway, but just spit rhymes and Ebonics terms.

hahaha nice touch with the knuckle dragging...very true statement though

WOW! Racist much?

@TheMilford No :S he made no comments on their race, but it really is true, madonna is in there too.

Let that dump be overrun by Run DMC fans!

if Run DMC is in, kick 'em out and let RUSH take their place! ALL HAIL THE LORDS OF ROCK! I BASK IN THEIR HOLY PRESENCE!

Their style can not be overcome. They created a sound a rithm, a demanding musical metric. They`re mystical and so are beyond of conventional.

neurolinguistic(lol) "Geddy" Lee's voice sounds like a gitar, how ironic he also plays the bass. as an ignorant teen of the 80's I always pictured him with some blood red gitar with silver strings.

r & r hall of shame believes that rock and roll is lyp-synching performers with choregraphed background dancers all dressed in the same clothes.
if you you have that , your in.
writing/reading music, singing or playing an instrument is not a requirement for rock and roll see run-dmc , I guess if madonna is in ....how long you think before they put brittanie speer in the real shame would be if rush were to associate with those douches

damn that what ive been saying u are all right in my book. this band is my favorite band ever seen them 7 times and they never dissapoint.peace to all
mdelair420 2 years ago 3
@zachharbi good deeds go unnoticed by morons, bad deeds are perceived good and thus rush will always be obscure, but better than the rest they waded through the media crap and pc ism.
fucheduck 1 year ago
@zachharbi (and joshcop69)
Agree with the Hall comments. Another criminal omission is Todd Rundgren. Not sure what's behind guys like him and Rush being snubbed, while MADONNA (rock and roll?) slides in.
nitedrive 1 year ago
@zachharbi let rush tell em no thank you...there should be a Rush Hall of Fame..that other bands want to get into...when youve been making the greatest music for 25 years or more

USA RULES AND DON'T FORGET THAT!
spartyon1988 2 years ago
No one else in the world outside of USA gives a flying shit about a hall of fame...!!!
That's for frikin Nancy boys, gays and lezzas.
Oh...and chuddie eaters.
Softrockman 2 years ago
Not many people inside the USA give a shit about the hall of fame. Although it still is an insult for them not to be in it.
Also, the USA doesn't give much of a shit about outside the USA either.
Bongwyre2112 2 years ago
No we know that, they just like to shoot their allies in the back or bomb the shit out of us...!
DiggermanNo1 2 years ago
Well, I don't know how much the USA actually shoot their allies in the back. What are you referring to?
I don't like how the USA wants the rest of the world to think they are stupid. It's the biggest trick in the world.
