You raise stigma when you make a video of people who were "probably" bipolar. Just because someone is artistic or eccentric does not mean they are suffering from a serious mental illness. I understand what you are trying to do here, but Patty Duke really is bipolar and speaks freely about the hell she went through, Dr. Kay Jameson...these are real people with bipolar disorder. People on this list like Jimi Hendrix. Why? Because he wrote a song called Manic Depression?

Wow i had no idea so many famous and brilliant people were manic depressive. I wonder if their manic bouts contributed to their productivity/creativity.
the funny thing is, doctors and society call this a "mental disorder" lmao....if anything, the people shown here make society look like 2nd rate idiots
Once upon a time there were energies that people would pick up for various reasons. I am a staunch opponent of todays psychiatric definitions. Even pre earthquake conditions certain people are sensitive to. If you think it a disease, think again!
I've been dealing with this disease since I was 13. The simplest things are hard. Mood swings, self doubt, anxiety, self medicating with drugs are all things Ive dealt with. To anyone who has this I feel your pain. Without my family I would have been in prison or dead years ago. we all got dealt a bad hand when it comes to being bi polar. Keep your head up to anyone who has this. Remember that even though we all fell alone, many others are in the same boat and may even have it worse. God Bless>
There's a small and excellent online depression support group called Depression Hangout that is always open to anyone who is struggling with mental health problems (not just depression). It's run in its own chaotic way by its members who meet regularly in the chat room and it's a great place to seek and provide help and support, make new friends and even just have a laugh. (We all need that too!) To join just go to depressionhangout-dot-blogspot-dot-com.
Anti-depressants have helped me cope with depression. Without taking medication, I would probably be dead by now. Some of you don't understand that medication really does help, and it isn't a bad thing.
I have bipolar disorder and this video was a real inspiration for me. I really needed to see something like this when I've felt like I'll never accomplish anything in my life. It gives me hope that I can actually utilize my disability and transform it into a gift with the right determination, attitude, and lots of hard work. I heard meditation works and I pray every day and I'm praying that I can handle it without medication. Please pray for me.
WTF?! having this disorder sucks monkey ass! ive planed lots of creative projects myself, went into money spree and ALMOST invested my life savings on some idiotic business looking 4 achievement until the whole world turns upside down into a shit hole. creativity i had got burnt, lost interest in everything, everybody is fucked up n' NOTHING seem 2 have a joyful taste anymore.
and guess what? it goes over again n again, sometimes i get the same cycle in the same day more than once! i hate that!!
RDJ was misquoted at the time and was smoking pot and taking cocaine and therefore not sober at psyciatric evaluation so this isn't researched enough.
People I know what it is! The Emotional/Physicals learn through Inference(emotion) Act out Directly(physically) In crowds expressing inference is hard fill your self with Emotional stimuli if not you are trying to make up for it in the Physical world by acting out Physically. you need Intellectual stimuli you need to feeel emotional stimuli.
Physical/Emotionals need Physical stimuli to keep them from becoming to emotional.
WHAT THE FUC*! You didn't add Robert Calvert??!! I give this video a thumbs DOWN! 1 star!! This video is terrible if you can't even add who is perhaps the smartest man, Robert Calvert (r.i.p.) who had bipolar disorder!! Shame on the creator of this video!!
This is a Mental disorder that can be handled, medication is one of the cornerstones. I beg from the bottom of my Heart to all Bipolars all over the world
Never Never stop the medication. And for some others whom live in countries that can not have the economical support to look for psychiatrical consultation, we must to create a foundation to help them, If does exist one, Let me know.
As someone with the disease, I'm ambivalent (no pun intended) about this video because I think the sappy guitar is a indulgent and it's not always the best thing for someone on a manic to stare at manic celebrities-- I'm sure if they had a People With Diabetes deal that it would include plenty of geniuses, leaders and the like. A list is good if you want to read the names yourself but not an homage. If you're bipolar and want help, go to see a shrink if you can.
this is such BS, I don't doubt the existance of the disorder, but c'mon ozzy and kurt cobain? they weren't bipolar there were just fucking drug users... how do we know half these people even had it? without my meds i'd be dead, so how did abe lincon even become president without meds back then?
because manic episodes are extremly high levels of productivity, i went from being sedentary to running five miles a day and cycling 35 in 100 degree weahter, as far as drugs are concerned people tend to self medicate becuase it helps them deal with the disorder.
Why dont you take the time to look something up before trying to call somebody out. Just because you have experienced something in one way doesnt make it the standard for all people. Even if all these people were not officially diagnosed, they exhibited symptoms. Their friends and family could attest to it. And since they were all famous, im sure plenty of people wrote about them and studied their lives extensively.
It's not a disorder, it's called being able to view the world for what it really is! A wad of hopeless shit with mindless sheeple who float their ways through lives. Masses of idiocy, ignorance across the land, pills to blind and deafen our future. Pills so that we do not know future exists. Pills are an excuse, not an answer. If you want to help bipolar people, love them, embrace them, show compassion. It is the only medicine true to the heart and the only that will help. <3
everybody is bipolar some more and some less and if ur not and ur just fine with all the things life throws at u there is something wrong with u ur not a human . keep up the fight people .
@fleegunna19 There is hope. No matter what condition your son has, he IS special. I am 29 and just now starting to live a normal life. I kicked the medication, I started taking B-12 and Folic Acid with DHA and it's been helping me. One good thing about this disorder is that when you're at the lowest of the low, you can learn to appreciate the simple things that make you smile, like a singing bird... and at the highest of the high, you learn to appreciate serenity.
@GrotesqueGoddess "lowest of the low, you can learn to appreciate the simple things that make you smile, like a singing bird... and at the highest of the high, you learn to appreciate serenity." that went right into my heart man so true
But really, I've heard that Mel Gibson exhibits many of the signs of Bipolar, including "self-medication" with alcohol. This is a pattern with people with Bipolar before they are diagnosed -- drinking and doing crazy things.
I don't think they would. Many bipolars fall into the "no, I can't, I cannot take risks, I cannot have any emotions, because those might be a symptom..." trap.
Imho, learning to channel the emotions and madness it the best way to deal with the problem.
Our culture is the problem, not the individuals who "need" to be drugged in order to fit into it. "It is no measure of health, to be well-adjusted to a profoundly sick society." (Krishnamurti) Look up: Dr. Peter Breggin. Also: Healing Cancer From Inside Out, When Healing Becomes A Crime, and Food Of The Gods
Depression is the result of suppressed negative thoughts which emerges as a massive negative energy blockage usually located in the center of human body right above the navel point. The energy flow doesn’t move which provokes a heavy layer of unbalanced energy waves blocking the natural energy exchange between major vital organs. Medicine cannot alter or cure depression, it only suppresses human thought process. By altering your thought process, you undo the energy blockage and let it flow freely
@RUSSKAYAG I don't know why this was marked as spam, you are right. It IS in your head and the only way out is to change the thought patterns... which is hard, but it's rewarding.
@KickinShadows No. It's the "chemical imbalance" BS... that is the real cause of the stigma. There had been studies done on that... biochemical model harms.
Believe me, I suffer from this, and when I was told I need to be meds for life... and the they may not prevent "episodes" anyways... I felt terribly... when I rediscovered my spirituality and looked into the causes and started think more analyctically... I have the power no. I still have ups and downs, but i can look from the outside...
... and analyze the situation... like a social scientist:)... "it seems like this...but is it really so?". I channel my energy.
You know it sucks...wanting to die one day and than wanting to do all crazy and socially unacceptable stuff the other day... but guess what? Nobody is gonna help you with this. Drugs, legal or illegal aren't the solution. Therapist can push you in the right direction but will not hold your hand 24/7. Know your streght, knowo your limits, live!
BEING BI POLAR DOES NOT MEAN YOU CANNOT LEAD A NORMAL LIFE!!!! IT JUST MEANS YOUR MIND AND LIFESTYLE IS MORE HECTIC AND STRESSFUL THEN MOST BECAUSE OF THE MANIA, RAPID THOUGHTS, DEPRESSION, SPENDING SPREES, ETC. MEDICATIONS CAN AID IN HELPING THE PERSON ADJUST TO THEIR LIFESTYLE CHANGES THAT ARE NEEDED. IF YOU ARE BI POLAR IT JUST MEANS YOU HAVE TO LEARN HOW TO MANAGE IT, PREVENT IT, AND LEARN HOW TO LIVE LIVE WITH IT! IT DOESNT MAKE YOU HANDICAPPED!
@wangac who would want to lead a normal life? A normal life is so mundane. A reason why people become bipolar people become bipolar is because normal life does not fulfil them.
@wangac I don't want a normal life. I want a happy life. Those two aren't the same... "normal" life is often job you hate and a husband you don't love anymore:( Sometimes you have to be uncoventional and non-comformist. Accept yourself and your dreams... and try to pursue them. Do not strive for normalcy.
i think they lack more than peace of mind...........does that even exist in todays society.Hope i make the "bi polar hall of fame"that would give me peace in my bi polar grave.
bipolar is very serious, but people have to admit that its almost become fashionable for teenagers these days. The majority of people in the world have bouts of mania and deppression like me, but that does not make you bipolar.
its the worst fucking disorder ever. knowing that you are a perfectly normal and healthy human being, and still feeling like shit when you are out and about in public. You know for a fact that you have nothing to complain about, there are a million people more worse off than you. But your mind is telling you that it is perfectly normal for you to self pity. The whole world is suddenly against you, & ONLY YOU. & the depression & anxiety turns you into the most selfish type of person, i hate it
@forfetable i don't want my synopsis of this condition to speak for everyone. I understand that it affects people in different ways. But i wanted to try and make the condition more understandable for those who do not suffer with bipolar. To those who are not sufferers, we may be seen as just a bunch of attention seeking idiots & anti-social snobs, so i wanted to try and help educate non bipolar sufferers about what mental patterns may trigger our certain behavioural patterns during bad periods.
@wimblewomble21 First off, the only logical way you can judge someone if they are bi polar is by analyzing them as a psychiatrist, other than that is ignorance, you can't determine who is bi-polar or not like that, it just doesn't add up, so if you want to make a positive difference I think you should erase the comment regarding "the worst fucking disorder", because maybe someone "diagnosed" with it will read it and what are the chances of that, lets not mind how much the title is related.
@wimblewomble21 yeah man i know exaclty what yu mean. its thw worst, and is fucked up thing to be conscious about it, yu watch people go away and can do nothing.
the worst thing really is i dont know if i can live without it, yu know when im taking the medicin, and feeling like a normal person i start missing the depression the euphoria, the rage from nowhere..
the creativity ... like im a musician composer myself, the first in my whole family to play a guitar, and i wonder if its because im
@neverquitter you have described your feelings very well mate. Do you ever find yourself being a perfectionist aswell. Not in an OCD way, but in a way that even when you have created something amazing (something even more amazing than painting mona lisa or a composing a kind of bohemian raphsody song) it still feels like it is never good enough. So the work sadly goes into the trash can, and it's beauty never to be seen again by the world. Lack of faith in my creativity gets me angry aswell.
@wimblewomble21 a perfeccionist in my creations only, yeah, i feel like is never good, and really cant believe when people say is really good, i kind focus on the critics , but for the rest of the things i kind dont give a shit for anything...i wouldnt say thrash can, most of the time people kind save it for me lol
what kind of work do you really are into? do yu have msn?
@neverquitter it is good to know that people around you do see the importance of your work & save it. I am a hairdresser, so all of my work is focused upon how i can create something specail for someone, & make them feel good & look good. I criticise my own work all of the time. If i create a hairstyle that does not look as a glamourous as a david bowie video or as beaufitull as maylin monroe then i feel very dissapointed & think that my art work is unworthy. yes i do. i will message my msn to u
@wimblewomble21 you're perfectly right. its nothing to be proud of. you feel fucking insane and everybody around you is suffering because you just can't control anything and because your whole surrounding is just focusing on you and your moods. you're not even able to build up any normal relationship because you're turning everyone crazy with this shit. this is no life!
Its when it at its BEST that u have to try to count to 10,sit down and try & understand all of this - and LEARN! Use the net and get knowledge and listen to people who have it and KNOW better...none of us are the same - but we are all in the same boat and if ur like me and feel it as a GIFT when it feels GOOD - then i maybe can use it to help OTHERS:) I feel that i understand it more and more the longer im on this "pink" cloud - and ive been here for quite sumetime now:) TC
@wimblewomble21 I hate to give this a thumbs up but you just described it the best way anyone I've known could do. I'm 28 and have been diagnosed "Bipolar Type-1, O.C.D and G.A.D" since 14. And I've heard it all "You want attention, you just can't handle your life, all meds are bullshit, you just need to stand up and be a man" and then, just to make it worse, you got your own fucking family telling you,You're hurting THEM! Of course, understandable but empathy should reciprocate.
@911wasasuckerpunch its a state of concious, not a disorder. Calling if bipolar disorder is a defamation of those who experience this condition. Most sufferers are spiritually awakened without being spiritually aware.
hahahah has someone just pulled these names out of a hat. Either very funny vid or someone with a fucked up strain of bipolar has put this together on one of his downers :p

Please pray for me.

and guess what? it goes over again n again, sometimes i get the same cycle in the same day more than once! i hate that!!

Phillies416 1 year ago
@Phillies416 Yer right. This vid is bullshit. No way were all these folks manic depressive (I prefer this old fashioned term to 'BP')
spuffchops70 1 year ago
@Phillies416
because manic episodes are extremly high levels of productivity, i went from being sedentary to running five miles a day and cycling 35 in 100 degree weahter, as far as drugs are concerned people tend to self medicate becuase it helps them deal with the disorder.
pboisei 1 year ago
@Phillies416

@fleegunna19 There is hope. No matter what condition your son has, he IS special. I am 29 and just now starting to live a normal life. I kicked the medication, I started taking B-12 and Folic Acid with DHA and it's been helping me. One good thing about this disorder is that when you're at the lowest of the low, you can learn to appreciate the simple things that make you smile, like a singing bird... and at the highest of the high, you learn to appreciate serenity.

if these people were heavily medicated today, do you think they still would have achieved greatness, or stagnated?
urbandenizen 1 year ago
@urbandenizen
I don't think they would. Many bipolars fall into the "no, I can't, I cannot take risks, I cannot have any emotions, because those might be a symptom..." trap.
Imho, learning to channel the emotions and madness it the best way to deal with the problem.

IT DOESNT MAKE YOU HANDICAPPED!
wangac 1 year ago 2
@wangac who would want to lead a normal life? A normal life is so mundane. A reason why people become bipolar people become bipolar is because normal life does not fulfil them.
JonB20 1 year ago
@wangac I don't want a normal life. I want a happy life. Those two aren't the same... "normal" life is often job you hate and a husband you don't love anymore:( Sometimes you have to be uncoventional and non-comformist. Accept yourself and your dreams... and try to pursue them. Do not strive for normalcy.

its the worst fucking disorder ever. knowing that you are a perfectly normal and healthy human being, and still feeling like shit when you are out and about in public.

@wimblewomble21 thanks a lot, you make me feel better about it knowing that i have to live with it everyday man.
forfetable 1 year ago
@forfetable i don't want my synopsis of this condition to speak for everyone. I understand that it affects people in different ways. But i wanted to try and make the condition more understandable for those who do not suffer with bipolar. To those who are not sufferers, we may be seen as just a bunch of attention seeking idiots & anti-social snobs, so i wanted to try and help educate non bipolar sufferers about what mental patterns may trigger our certain behavioural patterns during bad periods.
wimblewomble21 1 year ago
@wimblewomble21 First off, the only logical way you can judge someone if they are bi polar is by analyzing them as a psychiatrist, other than that is ignorance, you can't determine who is bi-polar or not like that, it just doesn't add up, so if you want to make a positive difference I think you should erase the comment regarding "the worst fucking disorder", because maybe someone "diagnosed" with it will read it and what are the chances of that, lets not mind how much the title is related.

neverquitter 1 year ago
@neverquitter you have described your feelings very well mate. Do you ever find yourself being a perfectionist aswell. Not in an OCD way, but in a way that even when you have created something amazing (something even more amazing than painting mona lisa or a composing a kind of bohemian raphsody song) it still feels like it is never good enough. So the work sadly goes into the trash can, and it's beauty never to be seen again by the world. Lack of faith in my creativity gets me angry aswell.
wimblewomble21 1 year ago
@wimblewomble21 a perfeccionist in my creations only, yeah, i feel like is never good, and really cant believe when people say is really good, i kind focus on the critics , but for the rest of the things i kind dont give a shit for anything...i wouldnt say thrash can, most of the time people kind save it for me lol
what kind of work do you really are into? do yu have msn?
would be nice to share
neverquitter 1 year ago
@neverquitter it is good to know that people around you do see the importance of your work & save it. I am a hairdresser, so all of my work is focused upon how i can create something specail for someone, & make them feel good & look good. I criticise my own work all of the time. If i create a hairstyle that does not look as a glamourous as a david bowie video or as beaufitull as maylin monroe then i feel very dissapointed & think that my art work is unworthy. yes i do. i will message my msn to u

And I've heard it all "You want attention, you just can't handle your life, all meds are bullshit, you just need to stand up and be a man" and then, just to make it worse, you got your own fucking family telling you,You're hurting THEM! Of course, understandable but empathy should reciprocate.
