  • is it not like mahler's symphony 1, 3rd movement?

  • Art is a great circle of wind and rewind, but it's still creation at hand. I suppose there were never Mexican's percussion with Malher nor horn section quite like that, Eko?

    Bravo Los Lobos, beautiful!

  • what a piece of art!

  • This is the song that made me notice Los Lobos. Went out and bought this album and was blown away. They're a total pleasure to listen to.

  • ah..the drugs are kickin in now.

  • great album, great band. anyone ever see Elmo and the Lavender Moon when LL appeared on Sesame Street? awesome!

  • Wow, it's been about 15 years since I saw this vid. It just popped into my head and so I typed it into search, and yaeh! Hey, thanks.

  • wow it`s like dreaming awake

  • This song wedged itself into my mind decades ago. Los Lobos did a version of it on The Muppet Show (hard to believe, but true). It's hypnotic, even without the video....

  • Sometimes this song is just creepy ...kind of like when you are awoken from a deep hard REM sleep on the sofa. Then having to find your way to bed where every little function is a surrealistic dream and every movement is an unnatural motion.

  • One of the best videos I've seen.

I noted the chiva influence as well as the catholic symbology, and the cumbia aspect.

I've loved Los Lobos since I first heard them doing their own stuff (Boom Boom Boom).

Though I'm very comfortable in Latin America, I believe Los Lobos is an accidental cross over, whites and we asians also dig the sounds.

  • Has a strange voodoo/catholic magic quality

  • Beautiful arrangement in this song.

  • hey people why do you try to understand what the song is about? "cumbias" are like this very twisted and sometimes they can sound like very happy but actually they are kind of sad, in latinoamerica we are like that if we are sad we just dance and dance till we can feel not so bad .i think this is the only cumbia you will find in english.and i think you can see here how latino mind feels.

  • yes, how latino mind feels, but when...what?

WE are the ones...the tribal resources...the true centre of the ANGLO-PAYOL reality, Orinoco East/Kairi

  • Stream of conscious vs. worldly desires

  • I read this somewhere and it's appropriate - "like a dream you have when you fall asleep face down on your pillow."

  • My favorite part of the music video is dancing skeletons.

  • It's like Eraserhead. But the music is cooler.

  • Why not try to hear "Nacho Libre And The Lavender Moon" by Los Lobos with a female Los De Abajo singer Odesia Valenzuela, but the music sounds a lot like "Kiko And The Lavender Moon".

  • I think it's about Heroin addiction. The Lavendar Moon is a subtle hallucination, dancing until he goes off to sleep..."...and then he shakes"...

  • huh...i read in an interview by louie perez that the song is about a cat..so, i think he and dave hidalgo wrote the song.. the line

but, i can see the heroin reference it is a trippy video, and song

  • Does it really matter what the song is about? This song came from the album where they took on alter egos as the beattles did. So to say all that, just take the video in for its trippy visuals.

  • I loved this video when it came out 15 years ago. Thank you, gods for YouTube!

  • What is the song about? Can some one please tell me?

  • Videos very often have nothing to do with what a song is actually about.

There is this dude named Kiko that enjoys dancing whenever the moon is lavender...

OK, that's about all I got... (whistling) the strange fellow turns and melts into the foggy shadows - soon the whistling became etherial coming from everywhere yet nowhere; Kiko pulls his silvery cape tightly around him & too melds into the fog, swaying slightly to & fro as if dancing to the odd fellow's tuneless melody...

  • this was one of my favorite songs when i was a kid, still just as good now.

  • this is amazing, does anybody know what the song is about.

  • I have also been looking for this video a long time ago.

One of the most pachecos videos ever created!!

  • Wow, the vid is almost disturbing. I never thought of the song as eerie before I saw the vid, but now... damn!

  • STANDS ON ONE FOOT DOESNT EVEN FALL

  • hypnotic

  • exelente cancion

  • Very "dusk till dawn". I love it. Great cocktail of music styles.

  • You know, I've been looking for this video for a long time. My mom did the costume and set design for this video. She was nominated for a Grammy for the costume design. She had a tape of this video years ago, but my dad recorded something over most of it by accident. Its nice to find this once again.

  • I'd love to hear if there's a story of how she got..or the makeup people to have david wear that silver makeup..very funny for such a low key guy. they basically repeated the same people over and over.. I mean, its one of my fav all time videos. being a life time lobos fan, this is their greatest video...so thank your mom for creating such a trippy video..

    gracias

  • That's so cool!

  • Thats pretty cool. This has got to be one of the best videos ever.

  • best lobos song ever in my humble opinion

  • great visuals. thanks for uploading this gem!

  • thanks.
