I think Sonic next gen/06 whatev seems good and I'm going to get it if it's the last thing I do!
But anyway, I wouldn't say that Sonic is or will be dead if this game doesn't work out.
I will still like him and be stuck with him in my brain for a good more years no matter what :P
Besides the Sonic fandom isn't only the games and things made by SEGA.
The fans have brought even more fans by fanart, stories, comics and wibesites.
In a way Sonic is indestructible.
