I completely agree. I think the ultimate challenge to a designer is in fact to be ethical to the degree that you consider the effects caused by your design. Unfortunately, the harsh truth is that the more we do, the more we destroy. Like he says, we need to focus on creating those life boats. To do that, you need truly great creativity.
