im pretty sure he recorded this song on top of another song and another tapes seems to have that effect of muddled echoness. ihave this smashing pumpkin mix tape that i mixed back in the day seems that there was alot of dubbing over when it came time for pumpkins now it sounds so slow .

wish he didnt use echo, reverb étc constantly (it's not used musically, but just as an effect).. in every song i heard so far... the songs seem nice, but are always in a puddle of smoke curtains of trying, i guess, to be vague and weird, weirdness comes from the soul, not from some effects pitty, great songwritr though

those aren't affects. He records on four tracks. Trust me, you can't make it sound that good by trying. I've tried.

actually he is using effects and a 4 track. But probably analog effects. I in my opinion its not the fidelity that's hard to achieve, its his arrangement & song writing. So layered and intricate but loose at the same time.
