Love how soldiers still have the great sense of humor, after everything they witness .I've heard of soldiers making light hearted jokes when one dies...if it was one of their friends...my boyfriend (who is in afghanistan) was owed some money by one of his fellow troops. A few weeks later, before paying up, that troop was killed....and the guys in the same army base as he and my boyfriend were making a light hearted joke, saying that he would have done anything to get out of paying.
I don't know if I will see this man later on, if I do I'll tell him I cried with a smile. Some of yall don't get it, make peace with your Maker, give Him the rest of your life. The kid's got a great sense of this world. It bothers me to see these comments.

im not a hater and I feel for his family. However I see soldiers and common people often mentioning "protecting our freedom". What freedom are you guys actually protecting? If every soldier would now leave Iraq, i doubt any American would lose their freedom. Fighting Taliban is another thing. Taliban is not in one or two places, its an issue of a region. However soldiers are stationed in few specific places fighting same battles every day with no progress.

Also, we invaded a nation that was under control of an evil dictator, removed him from power, wiped out the vast majority of Al Quaeda, helped set up a democratic government there where they hold elections on their own now. Actually, those countries harbor all forms of radical Islamic extremism, primarily the Taliban though. And, I'd say we have been extremely successful at defeating Al Quaeda. They only exist on the sub-fringes of society now, thanks to our military.

I have tons of people around me in the military. I have a brother in law that guarded the castle that belonged to Saddam, he asked if we could send him a fishing pole so he could go fishing, my father in law was a Colonel in the military, my father was a captain. And I've seen how they were utilized and decommissioned after the military had no use for them. Its use and abuse. This is why I'm just going to do my thing in grad school, and live my life.

The 'honor' of fighting? Stop lying to yourself. The FACT of the matter is, the US military has lowered its standards, its infantry troops are made up mostly of the financially disadvantaged. I really feel bad for this guys family, but lets call a spade a spade, this guy wasn't the best or the brightest.
What the fuck would you know about this country's infantry? I personally know several infantryman with whom I graduated high school. One of them was the son of a dentist and the other turned down a partial academic scholarship. Stop believing that anyone who chooses to serve their country in combat must be either stupid or financially disadvantaged. It just means they have a higher calling and more courage than you can shake a god damn stick at.
@R00tBreaker Many military members are college grads. Many are in support units like Dental, Medical, Chaplain services, etc. Lots of humanitarian aid is provided by this government by way of the military.
But them many people don't want to be educated about that. ;-(
that is not true, some of the smartest people I knew were in the military and i'm going to college right now, not a community college but a renowned university here in the midwest.
That's ironic because MANY of the dumbest people I met went on and joined the military. I've also had classes with them, worked with them, and they're pretty much goofballs for the most part. Granted none of the people I worked with were officers, but the ratio of officers to enlistment really would most likely support my view and assumptions. Hope the best for you and your future education.

Love how soldiers still have the great sense of humor, after everything they witness .I've heard of soldiers making light hearted jokes when one dies...if it was one of their friends...my boyfriend (who is in afghanistan) was owed some money by one of his fellow troops. A few weeks later, before paying up, that troop was killed....and the guys in the same army base as he and my boyfriend were making a light hearted joke, saying that he would have done anything to get out of paying.

im not a hater and I feel for his family. However I see soldiers and common people often mentioning "protecting our freedom". What freedom are you guys actually protecting? If every soldier would now leave Iraq, i doubt any American would lose their freedom. Fighting Taliban is another thing. Taliban is not in one or two places, its an issue of a region. However soldiers are stationed in few specific places fighting same battles every day with no progress.

They had a choice they were not drafted, they know what they were getting themselves into. So how could I feel bad for them? A puppet to a wicked Govt. How were they protecting me and you? You will never know what is like for us that are serving our beloved country. You have no idea what we go through when we are on deployment and can't even talk to our loved ones for months at a time. And who are we putting our lives up for? Our old veterans fought against the Nazi's to defend America. These guys invaded a country and destroyed for no god damn reason. I say what I say because of the constitution. These soldiers, did not fight to protect my way of life, they fought to instill America's way of life onto Iraqi culture. While you were visiting the world you should have visited a military town or base. Then you would understand how hard it is on the troops and families. You really think that our soldiers would want to go to a war zone where they could die then be with their families. If you do then your really messed up. I have tons of people around me in the military. I have a brother in law that guarded the castle that belonged to Saddam, he asked if we could send him a fishing pole so he could go fishing, my father in law was a Colonel in the military, my father was a captain. And I've seen how they were utilized and decommissioned after the military had no use for them. Its use and abuse. This is why I'm just going to do my thing in grad school, and live my life.

What the fuck would you know about this country's infantry? I personally know several infantryman with whom I graduated high school. One of them was the son of a dentist and the other turned down a partial academic scholarship. Stop believing that anyone who chooses to serve their country in combat must be either stupid or financially disadvantaged. It just means they have a higher calling and more courage than you can shake a god damn stick at.

@R00tBreaker Many military members are college grads. Many are in support units like Dental, Medical, Chaplain services, etc. Lots of humanitarian aid is provided by this government by way of the military.
But them many people don't want to be educated about that. ;-(

That's ironic because MANY of the dumbest people I met went on and joined the military. I've also had classes with them, worked with them, and they're pretty much goofballs for the most part. Granted none of the people I worked with were officers, but the ratio of officers to enlistment really would most likely support my view and assumptions.
