  • @CitizenOvTheWorld "My Prayer" (Platters)

  • Oh how do i love the 1950's. Thanks friend. : )

  • Which of Billboard's pop music charts is used before the debut of the Hot 100 in August, 1958 (starting with Ricky Nelson's "Poor Little Fool")?

  • @rmar67 The book, "Billboard's Pop Charts - 1955-1959"

  • @verycoolsound

Yes, but which chart does that book use? The Top 100? The Most Played by Disc Jokeys? The Honor Roll of Hits? I knoe it's not The Best Sellers in Stores chart, because the book I have uses that list, and the pre-1958 list is different than the one you have here.

  • @rmar67 I recall it being named "The Top 100."

  • @verycoolsound

    Thanks.

  • does anybody know whats at 6:05?

  • @Greeneyedbaby64 "Stagger Lee" by Lloyd Price

  • What song is at 6:53?

  • @MollioLS92 "Sleepwalk" by Santo & Johnny

  • What is the song at 4:16?

  • @MollioLS92 Sam Cooke - You send me.

  • The song at 5:11 is "Volare" by Domenico Modugno. It has the distinction of being one of the few songs recorded in Italian by an Italian singer. If you'd like to hear the song in English, check out Bobby Rydell's version of the same song title.

The song at 6:20 is "The Happy Organ" by Dave "Baby" Cortez and one of the great songs of the "instrumental era." It features a great organ melody with a relatively crappy guitar part thrown in just for fun. Still a memory maker though!

  • @barrys1100 thank you!

  • why did you not write the song names ??????? does anybody know the song 0:46 ??

  • @123Alea123 Because I don't have the time to do it, and there's no pay for this kind of work. Just putting all six of these long videos together took a VERY long time. With a few clicks, anyone can look at the complete list on either Cash Box or Billboard. For those who can't manage that, then I do answer every inquiry (read them below). The song is "Unchained Melody" by Les Baxter & His Orchestra.

  • Absolutely great and very best ever old songs that I can ever heard ! I am a fan of the old clasic songs.

  • Fantastic video! In the 50s and 60s is the best decades for making meaningful hits that music of today just cannot give!

  • would have been so much better if you displayed the titles.

  • Brought back so many memories of my childhood, grew up listening to these! Thanks for posting!

  • For the 1960s-early 90s, you can do a playlist of video clips in order through "Billboard chart sweep 1960" and so on. See the sudden surge of color around 1966, disco taking over around 1975, music videos during the early '80s, and the urban beat in the early '90s. Even in early 1960, there were still some sources describing that there were "hectic changes", though they paled in comparison to the changes the '60s brought.
