  • CANT LET U DO THAT STAR FOX.

  • I don't know about you, but I think he works for: GALAXY DOGS!

  • ...That's James.

  • @BballNintendo with online feature playng aganst 30 racers.

  • If you guys remember from the first Starfox, James went into a black hole and he ended up in the F-zero Galaxy, so its him if you look at it like that. it IS nintendo!

  • wait so this guy, did a space fox... and out came fox mccloud????

  • @MasterSword100 If you played the first starfox game, James went into a black hole and you can think he ended up in the F-zero Galaxy, so its him if you look at it like that. It IS a Nintendo game xD and Miyamoto is crazy enough

  • its fox's dad his dads name was john mccloud

  • Shame you can't do a barrel roll.

  • The awesome thing about this game is that beating a chapter in story mode is orgasmic.

  • Galaxy Dog hahaha :P

  • wait its really james mccloud it isnt fox

  • Yeah, it's supposed to be a caricature of Fox's Dad. The vehicle looks like an Arwing, too!

  • that doesnt look like fox at all that is up seting

  • maybe it's even fox's father! look! he wears the same stuff and his hair is shaped like ears!

  • Yup, well, a tribute of sorts. Fox's father is also called "James" and wears sunglasses; you can see him in StarFox 64.

  • (StarFox had two GameCube games and two SNES games - sorta. StarFox 2 for the SNES was pretty much complete, but they decided against release due to the impending 64. ...and there's StarFox Adventures on the 'cube if you want to count that. Not that this really matters - just saying.)

  • Viewtiful Joe didn't do TERRIBLY... its sales were just really lackluster, a lot less than expected. It was enough for the studio to try at it again, but the second met the same response: Critically acclaimed, subpar sales.

Same deal with F-Zero GX - it certainly wasn't a flop, but it didn't get near as many sales as they'd like. (VJ went bargain bin VERY quickly, too. That's where I got it.)

...and I do like both games and their difficulty levels, just so that's out there.

  • "sorry the game got a bad rap and it bugs me"

Well - look at Wikipedia, the article states citing sources - that it was critically acclaimed, it got player's choice -

and it was generally considered a step forward in the F-zero series.

  • Yeah, and it was. It's a good game, and critics recognized it's strengths, although, most every one stated that it's a pretty darned difficult game.

The main thing I was addressing was the amount of money it made and how certain people viewed it, like say, Shigeru Miyamoto:

"In the past we've worked with some outside development houses on titles like F-Zero and Starfox — and let me just say that we were disappointed with the results."

It hardly broke 100,000 in Japan.

  • I remember picking it up for less than 10 bucks, in a BARGAIN BIN maybe only a couple years after its release. Same thing happened to Viewtiful Joe.

If it was so successful, surely we'd have heard of a sequel in the works? It's a great game engine, wouldn't have been all too much work to go for another if they thought it was worth it.

  • @WhiteKhakis

Yeah, Viewtiful joe was also awesome -

I must have missed the "F-zero bargain bin" thing as I got my copy pretty much on release.

Viewtiful Joe had a sequel, and if its predecessor wasn't successful, why the sequel?

I think F-zero will have a game on the Wii,

or, like Metroid, it needs to go away for a while, and come back refreshed, when the audience is hungry for it - and get a new audience simultaneously.

  • @WhiteKhakis Mario Kart/Starfox/SSB

have one game release per console.

Super Mario and Zelda games generally get two.

  • @WhiteKhakis Ok yeah, agree with you on its difficulty -

But I loved actually beating it and unlocking the secret vehicles - it felt really rewarding to actually achieve it.

Also, yeah, if you bring in outside developers, the game has to be big, because the costs are huge for licensing etc -

so I see exactly what you mean, and have heard that report by Miyamoto aswell.

  • his name is james mccloud and his ship is like an arwing

  • That's James McCloud

  • That's right.

  • (I make light of this in the title with the "?" and in the bumper's question)

  • lol galaxy dog...like star fox XD

  • THAT'S MY ADDRESS HOLY FUCK

  • I guess Andross did not kill him... but turn him into a human...

  • Or he threw James into a worm hole, James came out in our galaxy, but defurred. =P

  • is this a wii, GC or N64 game?

  • It's "F-Zero GX" for the GameCube. If you're lucky, you can also find it in the arcade as "F-Zero AX".

  • its for gc

  • "What are your plans now you've won?"

I love Engrish. I LOVE IT!

    Also I love this game.

  • tha makes sense tho

  • Seeing as this guy's talking about his son, and the autograph, it's James McCloud, not Fox...

  • Yup. I just gave it a more recognizable title, is all. The question mark shows the tentative nature of it all.

  • looks like a Fox fake xD

  • Actually his was idea was from Fox"s father. Even the same name.

  • I completed this game on hard mode god damn it was the hardest thing ever

  • Too bad there isn't an online sequel for this game on the Wii.

  • I'm sure we'll be seeing more F-Zero in the future - an easier one.

  • I hope so.

It seems so interesting and fun but then I go to play it and want to tear my hair out.

    Also everyone else's.

Also an option to slow them down a tad, it hurts my eyes :(

  • Hahaha this is pretty neat.

Also pretty good voice acting, eh?

  • Sure, they weren't sloppy with this game at all!

  • I remember playing through this game. It's very fast and furious. I was a bit surprised to see that this game made it to Gametrailers' and IGN's Top 10 lists of the most difficult games of all time, though I guess that the Story Mode must've played a huge part in that. Chapters 5 and 7 were especially difficult on the hardest setting. Some of the vehicles were also unstable, automatically slipping into a drift if you went too fast. Because of that, I liked to use the fast and stable vehicles.

  • It IS a pretty danged hard game - casual gamers probably had a heckuva time with this one!

If you put your mind to it though, yeah, the races are certainly winnable, although they'll likely give you bit of a challenge each time. The hardest difficulty setting can REALLY be a beast!

...and for sure, there are some vehicles that handle terribly. I still haven't unlocked the movies for a few of them due to this.

  • It may be one of the most difficult games I've ever managed to complete (I unlocked every racer's personal movie), but it's also one of my favorite racing games of all time. After learning how to breeze through the tracks at record-breaking speeds (I highly doubt that I broke any world records), I feel proud to be able to beat any and all of the courses (oftentimes leaving the rest of the competition in the dust, even in the Master Cup). With a vehicle like the Hyper Speeder, that's easy.

  • you know what pisses me off! this is one of the most amazing games ever made and for some fucking reason they haven't made a sequel, i mean what the hell, imagine F-zero with an online mode, now that would be awesome

  • Everyone would die in the game.

  • 'galaxy dog' lawl

  • Hey, makes about as much sense as Star Fox - oh, wait...

  • Also, he talks about his son "Fox McCloud" in the video.

  • No, that guy is sort of like a parody to Fox McCloud's dead father, James McCloud. James McCloud wheres the sunglasses.

  • Right, I specify this in my video description. They were pretty good at keeping the parody/homage accurate.

  • You should change the title to James McCloud then, otherwise people are going saying "It's James McCloud dummy," so you should change your title and descriptions now. I dont want to see you have Negative comments on your videos. No one likes Negative comments

  • Nah, there' s a question mark in there covering me. The name "Fox" is a lot more recognizable than "James", hence the title.

I don't mind comments of any nature as long as the person behind it is being rational and exercising at least a modicum of tact, so no need to worry!

  • And also, I love how Nintendo puts different game parodys in other games like the Pokeball Planet in Buoy Base Galaxy from Super Mario Galaxy

  • I believe that IS the "James McCloud" cameo character that's found its way into each F-Zero game, hence the cursive "J" in his signature. Good otherwise, though. :) 5*

  • Yeah, his name is "James McCloud" in-game. He started out in F-Zero X for the GameCube, I believe.
