@StevenShields29 Thank you for posting what is easily the greatest comment on any video we've ever made. Sadly, the gagh is not fresh in Korea so we tend to avoid it. This is indeed an octopus.
@EvannRachel Thank you. I think the one with the live, writhing sea urchin is at least in the same league. You are all far braver than I. I would not be able to set foot in such a restaurant without passing out from the horror of it.
It isn't live. Its merely had soy sauce put on it. Soy sauce contains a lot of sodium which causes an action potential through the axons in freshly killed octopus and squid tentacles. It isn't gross just biological chemistry
Would you people please stop they are already dead don't worry they are not monsters, the octopus is just covered with soy sauce which has salt in it, if you can't tell go to 0:29
@mad27 How fucked up would it be to know that you're a dumbass? It's not still alive. It's still moving because the neurons are still firing. Unless you're a vegetarian, you should not pass judgement as eating chicken, beef, pork, fish is no more or less "humane" than this. And if you are a vegetarian, why are you even watching this video?
Wow... Fun Video and now I have vicariously eaten live Octopus which really is the closest that I want to get. What a loud group behind you..is that the way it is or was it just that group? Thanks for posting I will vote for you.
@EvannRachel the whole video is about eating octopus, last i heard we eat we our mouths.....now where do you think our focus will be at ? think about it...take a second.
@morrowsinkorea It's confusing. :-/ You actually have to go to Lonely Planet's Youtube page, then click the "VOTE" link, then hit the big thumbs up for 'Eating Live Octopus' on there.
I know you can eat it whole and alive and you need to tangle the octopus in your chopstick so that it wont stuck on your throat, not sure if it's from korea or japan ,
pretty awesome, guys. sorry i didn't watch this earlier. i really want more shots of that fish market though. my restaurant would kill for that kind of deal here.
pretty awesome, guys. sorry i didn't watch this earlier. i really want more shots of that fish market though. my restaurant would kill for that kind of deal here.
@jhonatanwerz Its okay Im glad you saw it!! Yeah we didnt mention in the video that we just walked up to one of a bajillion tanks, asked for an octopus, they said okay 10,000 won (<$10), and then they proceeded to just throw it in a plastic bag and hand it to us. Hilarious/weird. Then we walked to a restaurant, handed it to them, and they chopped it up for us and gave us side dishes. Amazing! Im gonna try to find a korean resto for us to eat at at home! :D
@HostileSausage The real danger is that it might 'suction cup' inside your throat and strangle you to death. :-O That's why they tell you to chew very well!
i love how some of these people on here are making fun of how you ate raw octopus... how it smells... how brave you are... how they could never do something like that... i wonder if these same people know what modified corn starch and high fructose corn syrup is.....
This makes me really sad actually. It's fun to try new things and experience a different culture, but watching those baby octopus squiggling around on the table...
BTW, if you are in Korea, you can get this at seafood restaurants all over Korea. You can get it at Noryangjin Fish Market but you can get it at other places, too.
She said it was tasty? Wow, haha! Do they season it?
I watch the K-vloggers testing it out, wondering if I'm that brave.Took me ages to try sushi (many moons ago). I but once I did, I was hooked for life...same? Do you crave nakji now?
@roxanneworld11 Yeah Fumi likes it, but not as much as I do...tako sashimi is one of my favourite sashimi's. Its very different to this style, but you can get it this way in Japan as well. I don't like it this way.
i think its yummy for sure if the sauce is soy
