  • what are the rules for sparring in Taekyon?

  • I like how they happily beat eachother with no protection on. That's what you call manly.

  • 0:54 SO SLICK how he shoulder bumps him like that! Taekkyun is so beautiful!

  • @SuperBluepurple we have the best rhythm too as you hear from this video.

  • Some of thoughs kicks looked like they were meant to hurt, the ones near the end looked like it would take your head off... I thought you wern't alowed to throw damaging kicks in a Taekkyun match... Just pushing kinds of kicks.

  • wow this is what ive been looking for taekkyon at its most violent moments after 3:50 they snapped their kicks some and u get to see a taste of what it can actually do a lil. if im wrong then this is gotta be aweosme to get so violent with (yes im american but im half irish and i love a good fight and this is the best ive seen so far )

  • lol

  • no wonder why they turned to breakdance : battles got the same rythm lol

  • ..countries and nearly won (the Germans), whereas korea on the other hand has been conquered by ALL of their neighbors, the mongols, the chinese, the japs, you name it.

I notice you mentioned the Germans, of course, why wouldnt you, if you're going to criticise why wouldnt you target the best, everybody aims their guns at the guy on top.

  • @bhibatsu Government textbooks...gotta love 'em.

  • @bhibatsu china was ruled by mongols for a time (yuan dynasty), taiwan and china was raped as badly as korea during ww2. also there was never a time when korea was ruled by china. there were allliances but chinese never had full control on any part of korea. regarding japan and germany, they did their share of conquering but in the end they got conquered by the US and lost all the land that they took so whatever

  • Korea has had control over Korea more than once... Korea use to be part of the Japanese Empire for a long time.

  • granted ur point about each person's character and psychology and cultural spirit will modify their expression of any style, however 2 points: westerners are not "imitating", rather they show superior character in being both wise, and humble enough to assimilate the value of another culture's art, rather than vaunting and being smug.

2: you'll find they are exceptional fighters, if you ever dare face one. they're so goddamn good at fighting in fact they they took on all their neighboring count

  • so much discussion....it is not only the style it is the martial artist too. westerns aare trying to immitate something that originated form other cultures and other civilazations adopted to their standars. body type mentality etc.how can you teach TKD to a german...?? still you see that tha art itself can adopt to almost everybody. it is a matter of choice and compatibility to be the best you can in a style that suits you the best. another "keyboard expert"

  • koreaans the best!!!!

  • they seem to have alot of fun with this though~kinda like a jokitive fight~ it like it ahha

  • can someone explain me the rules , i cant understand

  • basically, if you kick someone's head or if you throw them to the ground, or trip them, you win

  • you have to touch the oponents head with your feet of throw him down, if you do you have won.

  • good

  • imma learn shaoln kung fu...butmanythings iwant to learn and this is not stupid

  • stupid!

  • Taekkyun is so smooth yet powerful. Unlike Kung Fu, it is more aerial

  • Each and every martial art is only as good as the person who uses it. A good taekwondoka may win against a bad muai thai fighter, and a good boxer may have a chance against someone who practices e.g. Valetudo or shaolin Kungfu - it's not most important what style you fight, the most important is the heart

  • خرا

  • wtf kind of sportsmanship is there lol

  • lol this is awesome, it was completely recreational martial arts, people yelling out "hey take it easy" and "don't attack so hard!"

  • yes, and yet people still get broken bones and ruptured organs from these festive fights. imagine what would happen if they didn't take it easy.

  • Catha u talk shit so why don u do shis challenge a kyokushin nblack belt to a FIGHT not spar a fight and if u win then u can call us pussies the kmyokushin guy won back down fo sho

  • and what are you talking about? KYOSHIN? ISNT THAT KARATE? I want you to fight aginst those in K1.. if you win you can talk morron!

  • hahahahaha is this call martial arts in korea?? hahaha do you really think this is good for stret fight? all those pussys would be knock out easy in street fight!

  • ive never even seen this ma and i havent even watched the video but i want you to know you're an idiot. because if you ever needed to know one thing, that is one thing that you need to know in life.

  • They are acting in the video but this is martial arts that they believe can use for self defence, street fight. and by the way my name is Jom! and you are one stupid kid who believe i am stupid.. I have a IQ of 140 and I am a member of mensa here in sweden. less than 2% of the earths population have 140 in IQ so I am probably smarter than you.

  • IQ 140? You must be a retard to think ppl will fall for your stupid like. By the way, mr less then 2% go learn proper english before you comment trash anywhere, you're 'smart' english is fucking retarded.

  • just becus you speak english better than me doesnt mean I cant comment here. I speak 5 languages. How many do you speak? based on your comment.. seems like you are a person who really thinks you are better than someone base on comment. haha morron go fuck yourself. I know I am smarter than you fucking shit.

  • well catha, just so you know, being able to say a few words in a language doesn't mean you can speak it. martial arts is and should be a form of recreation, and self discipline, not to be used for violence. i suggest you take a good hard look at yourself and decide which is more important, starting a fight, or avoiding a losing one.

  • hahahaha...... its funny how u smart ppl can be so stupid and at the same time so arrogant. Maybe ppl will respect you more if you can be more humble, dont brag about your high IQ. and as for traditional ma not working, have u been watching UFC lately?

  • Anderson Silva from Pride came to UFC, he has strong traditional martial arts background and he utterly destroyed all the competition in the UFC who were considered to be the best fighters in the world. plus he's very humble and respectful to his opponent, something u dont have.

  • same goes for the fighter Fedor Emelieneko. He practiced both traditional and combat sambo and he's also very calm and respectful and he totally dominates competition. So why dont you stop being so arrogant and realize that modern MMA ppl who reject traditional MA will ultimately get torn apart by ppl who treat the style they r practicing as an Art not a way to beat ppl up.

  • This is fun sport, with rules like any other fight sport. Have a look at the other taekyon videos around, these guys are really skilled at tripping & kicking. They use good hand strikes as well but in these matches you only score for a head kick or a successful trip so they don't use hand strikes or body kicks much. On the street they would be lethal. So quick and agile.

  • Catha86, come to Korea please. It would be our pleasure to teach you a lesson in taekkyeon. We have Taekkyeon for tournament and also taekkyeon ment for self defense, which is also known as 'Yetpop'.

Yetpop teaches the use of all bodyparts as weapons.

This means: Fists, elbows, shoulders, head, knee, feet,

grabbling, throwing, kicking, boxing etc. I know what i am talking about as we pussies use it effectively in streetfight situations.

  • I suggest you watch the youtube video on Taiwanese SWAT using Kung-Fu or the fact that FBI invited techniques from Okinawan Karate into their training. You can watch these two and more from "Mind Body & Kickass Moves" BBC documentary series readily available on youtube. Peace.

  • Traditional Martial Arts teach one to over come oneself and the limitation of Human beings. those MA styles that are "respected" only teach adding on to human being. like i said before Anderson Silva, a MMA fighter with traditional MA background destroyed all UFC fighters who were considered best fighters in the world

  • hahaha. have been seeing UFC lately? Anderson Silva a MMA with traditional MA background utterly destroyed all UFC fighters who were once considered the best fighters in the world. plus he was respectful and very humble. somthing you should learn

  • well.. u are stupid. Silva is ONE person! it doesnt mean u are a damn good fighter cus u have train traditional MA! that is something u should learn! I train WTF Taekwondo. I now what iam talking about. most MMA fighter have traditional MA as a background.

  • This is one of korean traditional games. There are certain rules for this game, as far as I know. Their kicks are more like pushing the opponent's body. Actual kick is not allowed. They are holding back their kicks when they touch the opponent.

  • yeah well.. i dont even care. I just think people who really really believe this martial art is really really good selfdefence is stupid. BJJ is good selfdefence but just becouse some in UFC use BJJ, MANY people think all those technics really really works... that is not true and UFC have prove it. only a few BJJ technics are effective.

  • Catha I highly doubt your intelligence as you readily jumped to criticize an art you yourself have never touched. That is a mark of an idiot.

  • no i have test a few martial arts and if fact i am doing taekwondo...so i know what i am saying. AND if you dont know anything about me you shouldnt tlak bad about me so which mean you are stupid. AND i dont have to test every single style to know all about it! I listen to people who knows that shit and facts! people who ussually practice martial arts use to think their martial arts are the best!

  • TKD is not Taekkyeon. You should at least know that. No one really cares if your IQ is over 140(which everyone highly doubts). We don't care if you can speak five languages or that you ARE taking TKD. So stop being a troll.

  • you are missing my point and obvisuly many people do care.

  • i don't.

  • true true.

  • you really got the very point, one very important point; you should push the opponent not kick or beat, fundamental difference from other traditional martial arts

  • There are at least 3 corporations in Taekkyun. You are thinking that there is no actual kick in all 3 corporations, but you don't have to push them. You can kick actually. In only one corporation, Daehan Taekkyun, trainers can't kick person actually. Other taekkyun corporation allows trainers to kick actually.

  • You have a good point, as well as the people who replied to you, but thaat's just in the games. Taekkyun can be employed as a weapon, pushing on weak joints to make the opponent collapse, or kicking sensitive nerves to make them uhhh get hurt lol.

  • @catha86 of course there are constraints in this as a sport. you can clearly see the strength in their kicks, but strikes aren't allowed. thats why they're wearing no protective gear like taekwondo does. Some of those tripping and stomping techniques are very effective in street fights.

  • @kero7642 any kick in the face is dangerous and any kick in the body will hurt. That's a no brainer but still street fights today involves you being killed or badly injured now a days due to all the weapons out there. And also here in Europe a lot of people train kick boxing and boxing and mma and such so you are very likely to fight someone who actually has real fight training. This alone seems very unlikely to be effective.

  • @catha86 i understand what your saying. this is just a game version. they do teach self defense in an organisation called gyeollyeon taekkyon. Do take in mind that this is half a martial art. initially, it was an art called subak. it split into two about 700 years ago into yusul and taekkyon. yusul being hand technique and taekkyon, kicking.

  • @kero7642 than it proves I'm right even more if this only is a game version. The sad part is that some seriously believe this will protect them in a street fight. Not today anymore, not today. Just accept it that fight techniques have evolves and will continue to do so. If the old martial arts would be so effective today the new ones would have never been existed today. Some people can't understand that.

  • @catha86 you're a fool. being dedicated to any art will definitely protect you in a street fight. hell, you could be a dancer and be more prepared for a street fight than 90% of the people you will encounter. because of your dedication to a physical expression, your body becomes acclimated to being pushed. taekkyun is a beautiful art that has nuances that are clearly out of the range of your comprehension.

  • @zakquack and you think you know that much by sying 90%... do you have any idea of how many people that actually train some sort of activities?? I'm pretty sure 90% is just stupid fact you made up. and you just can't accept it that this shit dosn't help you a lot in the street.

  • @catha86 there's a difference between training and being dedicated. of course 90% is a made up statistic. 99% of statistics are made-up. but 9/10 people are not going to be in anywhere near the shape of a dedicated martial artist, no matter what style. Being in shape is more of an advantage than any other factor you could bring to a fight. as a martial artist, i respect all styles because when it comes down to it, styles don't make fighters.

  • @zakquack yes and that is my point. this style alone can't help shit. and if you gonna compare styles then just watch fact instead of saying traditional styles is better than modern... that is just stupid. its pretty obvious which style will win 99% of that time and the is the modern style of course. its base on everything you know before and added new things and has even took a quite a few things too, stuffs that just dosen't work.

  • haha that was sweet so mach respect
