Warranty on future models is still great 10/100,000. Anyone who doesn't offer that type of warranty I won't buy unless it is a super cheapy. When I buy a car for the first 5 years NOTHING major should go wrong. 20k/year is exactly what you drive on the West Coast if you get around.
@jiaweizheng1990 yes you should, i have an "urban" styled patriot, and i love it. also it still does well offroad as a 2wd. i def wont rock crawl, but it can make it. if you would like to see my patriot as i have it now i have some vids on my channel of it.

@noblejames111: Blame CA. Diesel's have a very hard time meeting CARB limits, and with so many states using CARB limits diesels get locked out of most states.
I wanted a 2008 Patriot but ended up getting the 2008 Liberty as the dealer had no probs selling any Patriots and would not give me a deal. i love my 2008 Liberty..sure wished i got the MPG's that the Patriot offers..Happy Jeeping.
Hardcore offroaders are a specialized group. They can't make money off appealing to a very small portion of the country. I think it's a great compromise.

I find it to be far from a Cherokee seeing as how it has a 4 cyl and friggin front wheel drive.. Nothing but a tall station wagon.. .. So what if it comes with 4 wheel drive its rediculous.. Jeep needs to stick to there roots.. Hard core 4wd vehicles like the wrangler and decent 4wd's like the Cherokee and Liberty..
The Patriot is a new version of the Cherokee XJ It looks nice to me but definitely it need a body lift at least 2 inches more form factory line. Love it.
The patriot is not the new version of the cherokee. It may be the same size, but its not the replacement. The replacement is the liberty. it has been since 2002. The patriot is nice tho
If this jeep had same diesel CRD europe has we would have the coolest vehicle around for price!!! Put a solid rear axle in, diesel,6speed manual have winner.

As for this noisy transmission i don't know what your talking about mine is quiet. The tires are a bit noisy and so is the engine when you step on it. My fuel economy in the city is about 24-25 mpg thats good for a 4x4.
Dont understand why america doesnt offer the turbo diesel! more power more economy. Im suprised the yanks didnt put a 4L v8 in this for their gas guzzeling festish! Maybe one day when the American Government abolishes the fuel subsidy they will come to understand the importance of fuel economy. Not just for their pocket but more importantly for the environment.
I was told when I went to a dealership that the diesel isn't available in US/canada because the diesel fuel we offer isn't refined enough. They did tests out here with them and the engines ran into loads of problems because the fuel isn't high enough grade, the only place that sells high enough diesel grade fuel is shell. I was pretty annoyed when I found out why as well. There is another vid on here somewhere where a patriot got 1124km out of one tank with the diesel. Uggg...

Idiot gas has been as high as 4 dollars a gallon.
I get 31 mph with my standard trans patriot.
THe wranglers are over priced for a recession and this is the grocery getter line but still able to go off road.
I think it fits nicely for jeep.
You buy the Rubicon and get your girl one of these shell love it.
