Normally when someone frets the guitar and then strums it while holding down the frets, and when they do that while they are playing an electric guitar connected to some sort of amplification, and they play this instrument along to a backing track, and the noise you hear corresponds exactly to the notes they are playing, then that means they are playing a guitar. I personally would not go to all of the trouble of taking the guitar part out just to play the song perfectly and not play it.
