@mizsoutiger About the Union dues. When I was 18 I went from nonunion $15/hr (no benefits) to Union $25/hr full benefits. After doubling my salary if you include the benefits I didn't mind paying dues one bit. Would you mind paying dues if it meant a $5/hr raise?
My Union hall has a massive training center to provide the most qualified personel to our employers, this ensures our future. All that shit costs money, so do the lobbyists that fight to keep our workplaces safe and fair.

@Rex11m I've been a Union craftsman for 8 years, I have to drug test every 6 months, every time I hire on which is usually atleast 3+ times a year, plus randoms while on the job. How is that encouraging me to use drugs?

@Rex11m Did you miss the part in my first post where I talked about the work I do? If we are lazy during a powerplant outage we get canned in a hurry. They make so much money that if we miss a deadline by a day or 2 is costs them millions. So if we were lazy we would have no work, they wouldn't hesitate to get nonunion to replace us. But we're fast and our weld quality can't be beat. Last job I worked it was over half mirror welding, NOT ONE BAD WELD.

@Rex11m Well bud you see "union" means everybody sticks together, that's the only way unions have any power, if union Craftsmen don't stick together and honor each others' picket lines they are hurting each other. In my local there are many places where they tried nonunion labor and have came back to using union labor. The reason is the work we do is usually very hard, and the deadlines set are always very critical, and we've proven time and time again that we can do it better.
