yeah what you saying is correct, but the catch is not that we need to change the engine parts, it is actually that algae biodiesel could not be produced commercially feasible yet
It's true that MB has developed many Diesel inventions. But Honda has put together an amazing program in a short period of time, including inventing and applying for a patent on a electrically powered plasma catalyst that does not require urea.
why you say that?? do you know any algae biodiesel producer? no cause there is not even one !! its only being produced in labs etc and its still a fantasy after 30 years of researh!!
meanwhile bioethanol is a liveing reality in Brazil and it is cheaper than gasoline there!
also biodiesel from plants like soya or palmoil is producing huge volumes in S.E. Asia
yep i know atleast 2 bio-diesel producers. Just because you havent heard about them, doesnt mean they dont exists. you're so called bio-ethanol is the cause for rise in food prices. Ofcourse brazil uses sugarcane so thats good. but what USA does...... making ethanol out of corn is bad.
biodiesel from palm or soya cant even be compared to biodiesel from algae, because its thousand times more yield using algae than soy or corn, or sugarcane or palmoil etc. the future is in algae. give it time
ok manolis you have no idea what you are talking about. take a look at this, here is one company that makes algal biodeisel right now. search for this youtube video "Vertical Algae biofuel Growing (see description and invest)" and there are others. but just look at this for now.
if i were you killmaster i wouldent pay a peny ! for that stock or the company of that mad scientist in the video you told me to watch.. the guy is realy pathetic with all this greenish bubling water sacks around him (hahaha..), which ofcourse could never be practical due to high cost and because it needs alot of fossil co2 from coal or petrolium energy factories etc etc
Hmmm Manolis1080 I can't help but wonder if you don't work for the government A.K.A. big oil. The ratio of land use to oil yeild has already been determined the leftover biomass has also been determined to be a good vehicle for the production of ethanol... or high protien animal feed. It's a matter of time and isolating the best species of algae, that will grow sufficiently and yeild the most fat or Vegatable Oil. Try not to be so closed minded my friend there are many brilliant minds on this.
well then mister geoffreyphilip just tells us then how much biodiesel from algae those 2 companies have produced and at what cost ??!! perhaps 3 litres for 300$ all costs in..?perhaps you should wait for 50 years or so for those algaes to grow in your garden! cause i personaly dont give it anytime at all..!
look, i'm no expert. i dont have it written down how much it costs. but its cheap enough to sell commercially. but they need big bucks to build the big closed environment, since its not open pond where they're harvesting algae. it takes 24 hours to double itself. in other words its the fastest growing organism on earth. so its doesnt take 50 years.
Algae doubles in size every 4 hours, eats co2 and produces oxygen and can produce 10,000 to 20,000 gallons of biodiesel per acre per year or more. There are problems, but I saw some research that even making it in the lab is currently cost effective, which is generally never the case. (Yes I know sources would make me look less a fool so take this with a grain or two of salt :))
What about biodiesel extracted from Euheuma seaweeds. There are quiet a lot of asian companies trying to invest in macro algae for biodiesel

All of the emphasis on corn is for it's ethanol production not it's oil value. Ethanol is the lowest head on the totem pole of alternative fuel.

Catalytic converter for diesel is invented by Mercedes Benz. THats why it is called BlueTec and not by Honda.

Although I do not worship Honda like the creator. I do believe algae is an awesome solution.

I read your article on Algal Biodiesel. It was very easy to understand. Algae is the way to go.
