  • Keep your IPOD, ZUNE, Iphone, etc, etc handy when playing the Jaguar version :)

  • These textures suck.

  • The Jaguar version was easily the best back then .. well, until that PSX version got released! Hey Hoo..

I've still got my Jaguar & Doom :)

  • I loved this game very much it's remind me the old times

  • GAMEBOY SP version is better than this fucking bullshit.

  • i prefer the dos version

  • Why does it have a slow load time for a cartridge based system?

  • @MovieGuru891 PSX was September 1995 in the US/EU, Saturn was Mid 1995 in US and EU maybe, Both of them came out around December 1994 in Japan.

  • Well that's a fact as it's the only console port of the game. Theres really not much left of Final Doom on the PSX disc as it's amazingly cut down compared to the PC. I don't know though, I just felt like playing it - too much effort getting my old computer set up to play the "real version" I've seen the reviews. Final Dooms not very popular. I really like the TNT Evilution Episode though!

  • @riscosmasterofall no final doom was about as popular quake just that id software was busy for other games

final doom on PSX was plutonia TNT and master levels of doom 2 so they took half levels from each game and put it together

  • @killkenny5000 I personally enjoy Final Doom, TNT more than Plutonia but a lot of reviews and comments on here about the game are quite negative. Final Doom on PSX was mostly the master levels from Doom 2 as it included 13 Master Levels 11 TNT levels and only 6 Plutonia levels making a total of 30 levels. That's not even half of the original PC game. I think this is why a lot of people don't rate the PSX version much.

  • @riscosmasterofall original doom on PSX most ppl like since it had over like 59 levels i think

  • @killkenny5000 The original PSX Doom is one of if not the best versions and the content is huge which I think is another reason the PSX Final Doom isn't as popular. PSX Final Doom's content compared to PSX Doom or the PC Final Doom just doesn't hold up very well.

  • @riscosmasterofall

idk they seem to be equal its just multiple doom games put together thats it with the same content from PSX doom

  • @killkenny5000 true but as you say 59 levels PSX Doom was and then PSX Final Doom was basically half the size at 30 levels when the PC version excluding the Master Levels was 64 levels. PSX owners may have felt a little cheated at this. I am hoping when Doom 4 comes out they include the original PC Final Doom game like they included Ultimate Doom and Doom 2 with the Doom 3 collector edition. And like they packaged Quake 2 with Quake 4 etc.

  • @riscosmasterofall well you its like playing 3 demo's at once

you play half the master levels

    half of tnt and plutonia

    just like a demo does

it aint like doom 32x where theirs barely levels on it

  • @killkenny5000 I do think in the defense of the lack of actual Final Doom levels they did at least use some of the better levels from the PC, TNT is a lot of fun but I really don't like Plutonia that much as IMO it's very repetative even down to the textures. So 6 Plutonia levels is more than OK with me..

32x Doom? Pity it was cut short for Christmas deadlines, aside from the lack of levels and crumby music it plays very nicely on original hardware.

  • @riscosmasterofall yeah but it isnt as good as the snes version

i actually do liked the snes version even its a little laggy and bad graphics its still playable

more playable than 3DO and sega saturn thats for sure + it uses PC levels no more jaguar and the music is better than PC and its has bosses and all demons and weapons in it and 22 playable levels :D

  • @killkenny5000 there's an age old debate! Depends on what you like in a port. For me it's smooth fast and responsive gameplay so I place 32x behind only the PSX, Jaguar and (Japanese) Saturn version. But the SNES version is superior for content and music for sure! Theres a few problems with the original Snes game which I believe do not occur on emulation which I would like to try. The 3DO version was very disapointing, the music is excellent but that's it..

  • @riscosmasterofall yeah so what i did is i used modern DOOM engines like zdoom, GZdoom, and skulltag and play jaguar doom in wad with 3DO music in wad and combine them together

now you have the 2nd best doom game ever

  • @killkenny5000 Sounds fun. Custom games like that are great because you can make it what you want. Wads that change graphics are also a lot of fun and give it a really fresh feel.

  • i call this silent doom

  • @Vfl666 Ha, me and my mate call this one "Silent Doom" too, we also call the 32x version "Half Doom"

  • It looks like the GBA version.

  • That's because the GBA version is the exact same game, but at a lower resolution and music.

  • Just from the look it remembers me to the awkward PS-DooM controls (you have trouble to hit the stairway). It takes a while to get used to these fast controls when you are used to use the keyboard.

  • Poor Jaguar. This was an awesome port, showing the machine could do well given the chance. But it was treated like a bad smell.

I do like how ThE DEad BoDIeS SLiDE LIkE ThaT >:)

  • Yes there are faster processors however it can only access them at a limited speed rather then the other consoles like PS1 for example that can utilize the 32 bits at the full speed rather then bottlenecking thru a 68k CPU (which is nativly 16 bit). It's a bit difficult to explain...

  • Silent doom

  • great music huh

  • LET'S PLAY SOME JAG oi

  • LOL shotgun zombies dies and goes up and down the stairs XD

  • @M1XART 16MB cartridges? N64 cartridges were 12 on average.. :/

  • dead body went up the stairs!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • for frame rate-atari jaguar winz

    for graphics-PSX winz

    for accuracy-snes winz

  • I've heard there was no music during gameplay because they used the sound chip for graphics (the lighting).

  • This reminds me of Doom , I dont know why it just does, something about it really reminds me of Doom, weird eh?

  • I like how the dead body can move

  • Seriously though...why was there no music :S Makes NO sense what so ever.

  • @theelostriots9999 -To save money. That`s pretty much the reason, as Jaguar games were almost all in only 16 MB cartridges...

  • The lack of music makes it more spooky and better.

  • Why is there loading on the Atari Jaguar game? Aren't loading exist on disc games, instead of ROM cartridge game consoles like Super NES, Sega Genesis, 32X, and N64?

  • @dafranx actually ALL the games load on every console

like superman on comodore 64 that takes like 3 mins

  • Doom ports I recommend: Xbox 360, iPhone, Flash version, Jaguar.

Doom ports to avoid: Xbox, 32X, Saturn, 3DO.

  • doom 64 isn't a port because there are different levels,it is a sequal!

  • some people believe that atari took the music out because they wanted it to have a creepy atmosphere and i must say,it definitly does just that

  • Some dead bodies of shotgun guys they climbed on stairs when they dead. LOL

  • the textures of the Jaguar version looks better than the PS1 version, but the lighting effects are better on ps1, but the N64 version is the version that has the best graphics of all.

  • @TheFred128 but doom 64 doesnt count on the DOOM 1 ports cuz doom 64 is a complete different story

  • @killkenny5000 yes this is true, the game is quite different, but it's a great game.

  • Awesome port. If you gave this one some lighting effects id say youd be close to showing me the best version iv ever seen...other than PSX and N64, obviously. N64 is just awesome, im no fanboy, just picked it up recently and found it to be a far superior version than all the others iv played in my life, thats including PC tho bear in mind back in 95 i were running this on a 386 so i had to have the graphics on low resolution and the screen the size of a postal stamp to get a playable framerate!

  • lol! the one shotgun guy falls down the stairs while another flies u the stairs! 0:15-0:24

  • i like 32x better at least 32xd has great controls and SOME MUSIC

  • No music seems weird.....but it's still a cool video!

  • stupid asses didnt put music

this would have been great with some music, could have maybe gave the jaguar some respect (that it really didnt deserve)

  • Silent Doom XDXD

  • elbryan42

is the atari jaguar version of doom is kinda like the 32x version cuz of less levelz but good graphics

  • The Jaguar port of Doom is the version that almost all earlier ports (except the SNES one) was based on. The 32X version has one less episode, one sided enemies, and music. Other than that, they're pretty much the same. But the Jaguar is definitely better, since it plays better and has more levels.

  • @elbryan42 only one problem with the jaguar one, no music

  • @elbryan42 Hey where are the 2 columns on both sides of the stairs ? Was it added later on Doom versions ?

  • @fighterbruno They probably took them out to save space because of the cartridges

  • @elbryan42 It has better music, too, too bad it doesn't play during the actual levels...

  • @MetroidJunkie2007 no it sounds like ducks

the PC version has way better music than this

  • @killkenny5000 I was comparing it to the 32x version. The Jaguar version is far more tolerable in comparison.

  • @MetroidJunkie2007 but what would you rather do

play doom with no music or play doom with farts

  • @killkenny5000 Well, the 32x version has the option to turn music off so both versions can technically be played like that. =\

  • @MetroidJunkie2007 true but since the 32x port has lack of levels and 1 sided enemies its not as playable then compared to the jaguar

  • @elbryan42 Also no boarders unlike the 32X version. Probably the best port of the game on a 16Bit machine.

  • @R33Racer the super nintendo is 16-bit

    sega genesis is 16-bit

    sega 32x is 32-bit

atari jaguar is like half 32-bit/half 32-bit (not rly 64-bit since they split the processors)

    3DO is 32-bit

  • @killkenny5000 The Jag isnt really 32 bit either since its only a 68k CPU like the Megadrive.

  • @R33Racer then whats with the 2 different 32-bit processors

  • @killkenny5000, It's through a 16-bit bus. The bus size is what counts in terms of 'true' bits IMHO.

  • @R33Racer so if atari jaguar is 16-bit then how did it manage get way better graphics than super nintendo and sega genesis

wolfenstein 3D on jaguar has best graphics and the frame rate on doom on jaguar never lower down or anything its almost perfect

  • @killkenny5000 PS1 is half 32-bit/half 32-bit

some games from 1995-1997 uses 32-bit

    some from 1996-2003 or 2006 uses 64-bit

  • @cameron20101000 no the PS1 mostly acts like the 3DO

the PS1-3DO-32x-sega saturn-and most of those gaming systems are full 32-bit

the jaguar isnt rly 64-bit cuz it has 2 different 32-bit processors

snes-sega genesis-turbo graphx 16-neo geo and most of those early 90s systems are 16-bit

    NES-sega master-atari 7800 and 5200,2600 are 8-bit systems

so clearly nintendo 64 is the actual true 64-bit systems

all the modern systems from today are 128-bit

  • @killkenny5000 okay

it just most ps1 games from early 2000s may use 64-bit

  • @cameron20101000 no those are not 64-bit games

playstation is full 32-bit gaming system

if it was 64-bit it had better graphics than N64

so no they did not use 64-bit graphics in the early 2000s cuz its way too much for playstation

then until when PS2 came out that uses 128-bit graphics which is way more powerful than PS1/PSX and N64

    the PS3 is also a 128-bit system

so how it managed to get better graphics is a more advance processor and shader

  • @killkenny5000 PS2 was the first game to use 128-bit graphics

PC games from 80s uses 8-bit, the one from the early-mid 90s uses 16 bit

    mid-late 90s uses 32 bit

early 2000s uses 64 bit, and today's date uses 128-bit

  • @cameron20101000 nope late 90s was 32-bit and 64-bit cuz the nintendo 64 which came out since 1996

  • @killkenny5000 okay

is Doom 2 on gba is a shitty port?

  • @cameron20101000 completely changed the subject...

it aint rly the best port around but i do say it is playable even though its censored its still doom

it has all 32 levels including the wolfenstein levels and the icon of sin boss

    the only flaws are

some levels are cut in half

    mancubus shoots inaccurately

the john romero voice only talks when it feel like it (maybe on GBA he cant talk but on DS he does)

and the armor can be easly glitched

  • @killkenny5000 Armor is spelled with a U

If you play Doom 2 on DS or GBA SP he say something

no voice only happens in the first model of GBA

    Mancubus Balls is small

The fire from Arch-vile go keep following you until he gets you and you can barely see his fire attack

Wolfenstein and Grosse musics are fucking perfect

Industrial Zone & The Chasm got cut in half

Maybe Doom 2 on GBA is a good port

Except for Doom 1 for the GBA That's a shitty port.

True, I'm getting Game Boy Advance Soon.

  • @cameron20101000 nope its the numbers on the armor

its the numbers that give you a percentage to tell you how much armor or health you got like most ports

but on GBA the numbers will freeze up which you cant tell if its going up or down

  • @killkenny5000 freezes up?

    maybe i need to look

  • Comment removed

  • @cameron20101000 the Sega Dreamcast was the first 128bit graphics, the PS2 followed two years later. They promised a VMU like the DC and internet access which Sega was also first to offer and various other things that never happened, but lived off their reputation from their first console.

  • @riscosmasterofall Dreamcast was 1998 or 1999

    maybe you right.

  • @cameron20101000 November 1998 it came out, remember it well on Christmas Day - I suddenly aquired many new friends I remember that LOL. It's was a great console and had a good library, especiallyof the abandoned titles that were not released.

  • @riscosmasterofall I never get to try Dreamcast, if it's 128-bit, then it's better than N64 and PSX

  • @cameron20101000 @cameron20101000 Oh yea it's way better than those, don't get me wrong I mean they are great consoles too but the DC was first of it's generation. It was popularised by giving us titles like Sonic Adventure, Quake 3 Arena, Jet Set Radio (Jet Grind Radio in the USA) and various racers as launch titles.. we had never seen anything like that before and we were blown away. Platform games were suddenly in 3rd person perspective. It was a WOW

  • @riscosmasterofall N64 is a 64-bit console made in Late 1996

PSX and Saturn are 32-bit consoles made in Late 1995 in the NA and PAL.

  • @cameron20101000 The Sega Saturn being the most underated console ofcourse. I remember nobody stocking it where I lived back then and the store staff saying "well.. we can order it if you want, BUT" as it was heavily marketed as a bad idea. I only picked one up in 2002 and I have to say, it's got a great selection of titles availible. Infact it is the console I have the most games for, shame nobody gave it a fair shot back in the day. And the 32X... well that's another story!

  • @riscosmasterofall The only bad games on Sega Saturn is Duke Nukem 3D, and Doom.

according to the graphics, really wanna know? Watch the review of Saturn Doom, and Duke Nukem 3D PSX vs Saturn.

  • @cameron20101000 I'm not a Duke Nukem fan to be honest. Yea I have a Doom ports video I made recently talking about the different versions, feel free to check it out. The main problem with the Saturn version is the messed up frame rate. This does not apply to the Japan release though - theres some vids on Youtube to proove this. You can't beat the Playstation ports though. I'm actually playing through Final Doom on the Playstation at the moment!

  • @riscosmasterofall Final Doom on PSX is the shittest port ever, the one on PC, it's okay

really want to know? Watch Trailerboy's review of Doom and Final Doom on the PSX

Doom on PSX is a kick-ass port.

  • @cameron20101000 disagree its just a disappointment from doom on PSX since it only have like 30 levels

but it still have that atmospheric and darkness with colors and ETC. and runs about the same just less levels

it only have like final doom plutonia, TNT, and master levels of doom 2 in it

  • @cameron20101000 doom, duke nukem, hexen and some sonic games are shit on saturn

  • @killkenny5000 More like AWFUL GAMES than shitty games.

  • @killkenny5000 Wrong, PS3, 360, and Wii are actualy 256-bit consoles

128-bits are PS2, Xbox, Gamecube, Dreamcast, and PC games from Early to Mid 2000s

  • @cameron20101000 ok now where did you get 256-bits and + their is no such thing is a 128-bit PC ...yet

we only have 8-bit 16-bit 24-bit 32-bit and 64-bit PCs even one of the most powerful home PC's like the alienware are 64-bit

  • @killkenny5000 256 bits from wikipedia

Damn Kenny, PC not yet became the 128-bit console?

  • @cameron20101000 wikipedia is not that accurate their had been idiots on wikipedia that been putting lies just to make fun of something

they done it with TOSH.0 once

  • @cameron20101000 + these modern systems rly are 128-bit like the PS2 just different processors

It has a lof tiny bits, screws and chips

As for HDD - each byte is 8 bit. Each KB is 1024 bit, each MB is 1024 KB, each GB is 1024MB. There are 20GB, 40GB, 60GB and 80GB versions. on PS3

  • DooM with no sound = A shitty game

  • @341464 Don't you mean music? Almost all the sounds from the original PC version are present.

  • @DXSnakeEater

Yeah I mean music Sorry :P

  • @341464 It's fine. XD

  • @341464 That's like saying that gum is bad because you can't smell it.

  • @AveryGamerDude

I can't deny it's a good game, but I'm really dissapoint that it has no music :P

  • @341464 You got a good point, there. It would be better if it had music, especially from the 3DO.

  • @AveryGamerDude their is music but only in the stats :(

  • Nice video for a very nice game, stripped-to-the-bone version! My favourite!

I have a question for you: how do you record the audio/video signal for the Jaguar?

I have a DVC90 to make PS2 and XBox 360 videos, but I never found something to record the PAL/NTSC signal... Any tips?

Cheers and long live the Jaguar!

  • this game is great but i cant play for longer time i dont know my eyes feel much dizzy while i play this type of DOS based FPS games

  • wow looks boring w out music.

  • This version of Hangar reminds me of the PSX version.

  • Damn for an old port, that's pretty good framerate! Faster then the Saturn port and about the same speed as ps1 port. Well done jaguar.

  • The whole no music thing just ruins it IMO. And why are there loading times? This is on a cart for god sakes! The Jaguar was such a piece of crap.

  • @vio2112 Jagaur ruled faggot shut up bitch.

  • @TheWCWite There's no bridge here, but I certainly do see a troll.

  • @TheWCWite jaguar is a shitty console but at least it has a decent port of doom and an awesome port of wolf3d

  • do this version feature the Cyberdemon and the SpiderMastermind?

  • Nope, no Cyberdemon, Spider Mastermind, Spectre, Invisibility or crushing ceilings. This version is the stripped down version of Doom that many other ports just lazily take the levels from.

  • why did people even like this port? I mean it has redesigned maps with less reduced detail, darb textures and no music during gameplay. infact the only things this version has better than the poor sega 32x port is the higher res and more lighting. so it was the best console version when it came out, but the psx version was still better.

  • @elbryan42

well the ports on the PSX is same as the jaguar version but PSX version was WAY better cuz more levels and horror music better sound effects

  • @elbryan42 Its really unfortunate that this was the case, because the SNES port was the most accurate, featuring most of the levels, all three episodes, all enemies, and crushing ceilings, excellent music.. but suffered from severe pixelation and slow frame rate

  • The dead shotgunner, at 0:16, it's climbing the stairs.

  • It pisses me off when you see Doom and AVP on the Jag and know the system failed because Atari did not push 3d games (decent games) when the machine was very capable. Darn, this version of Doom looks better than the Saturn version, and that console came out a year and a half later. With the CD unit, we could have had great ports of Quake, Duke nukem and more, all with music.

  • I guess hte lack fo music in the Jag version would make it more scary, but yeah, DOOM was more of an action shooter game that gets the blood pumping, than a survival horror game. Do what the Nerd does, stick on some Slayer and you're set.

  • why did you turn off the music?

  • Nope, there's just no music in-game.

  • @elbryan42 thats gay!

  • @wescoolya Music plays on the networked Death match mode. Personally I think they dropped the music so they could use the sound DSP to decompress the textures and add a few FPS to the game, just as Rebellion did in AVP.

  • There is not much detail in this port.

  • I personally hated the music in the PC version, especially when compared to the genuinely creepy & atmospheric soundtrack found in the PS1 version. The fact that the Jag version lacks the annoying MIDI music found in the PC version is actually a good thing.

  • Snes version is better

  • @irapeprettygirls you made my day :)

  • @thorgallpl always glad to help :D

  • I wonder why they couldnt do music for the Jaguar version. It seems to be near perfect with the graphics and sound effects unlike the other versions. I guess maybe not enough cart memory, or maybe the sound hardware couldnt handle having the music and the good sound.

  • No music? The game gets an INSTANT 0/10 for that stupid ass decision. The music is one of the best parts of the game

  • @natedoggcata Dooms a pretty good game actually.

1% of the overall game feel is made up of the music, so why don't you sit and listen to a cd of the doom music?

By your logic you would enjoy that practically as much as playing the pc version of the game and any extra enjoyment you gain by actually playing the game as well as listening to the music means it wouldn't be worth the effort for you to keep pressing the buttons to actually play it.

  • ok download Zdoom and just turn the music all the way off. there are features like that in original doom anyways. No reason anyone should even port this these days. A net book can run this at top speeds

  • The lack of music in Quake makes it scary, lack of music in doom makes me not wanna beat the shit out of things

  • I guess I'm in the minority by saying I liked it without the music. It made it feel more real and spooky somehow.

  • zombiemouse:

    But the music is great!!

Actually, if I would find a "silent" PC version I'd play it. Thing is, it would be nice to have an OPTION to turn the music back on, and the Atari Doom doesn't have it.

  • Silent Doom

  • 0:16

    the body was falling UPSTAIRS?

  • better than pc version by far!!!

  • they should have released a jaguar cd version with 3do music.

  • 0:39 DOUBLE KILL

  • fuckin dumbasses..not adding music

  • Mix Atari Jaguar graphics with 3do music and you get the best port of doom of all time.

  • LOL what I do is emulate the Atari version and play the 3DO ost on a standalone MP3 player in constant loop to the level's song and I'm rockin' all night long!

  • Even then, nothing can touch the PC original (with the possible exception of the XBLA version).

  • I liked the ambient music, and some of the effects/lighting in the PS1 version. Though the FPS sucked a bit.

  • @KoolAidIdiot Better than on Xbox LIVE? Or does that not count?

  • @KoolAidIdiot No. Mix Doomsday graphics with Brian Kline's music and you get the best port of doom of all time.

    Doomsday engine: watch?v=G79k0yw6Xic

    Brian Kline's music: watch?v=8vUiBLpze_A

  • Looks like a pretty good port - smooth framerate and no compromises in the graphics. Shame it has no music.

  • Agreed! who the heck thought it would be a good idea to port the game without music?!

The music definitely added to the atmosphere of the game!

  • @GamerBoyGU82 The same prossesor that did hit detection would have done the music, but there wernt enough cycles left to add it, so they decided to add music only in the intermissions. Just another reason to curse the atari jaguar.

  • @GamerBoyGU82

Even though the Atari Jaguar was 64 bit, its processor(s) were not all that powerful. To do smooth scaling on the sprites, at a nice resolution, they had to use pretty much all of the power that the Jaguar had. And, since the Jaguar used an extra processor for music, instead of a music chip or midi device, they just cut the music and used that chip for scaling, or fog, or something.

  • jaguar's main problem was that it didn't have a 3d accelerator so 3d graphics were slower than they could be. the limited cart space was also a problem.

  • @GamerBoyGU82 it wouldve made the framerate extremely choppy if music was added watch my video doom on jaguar with music and u will see the graphical difference

  • @GamerBoyGU82 well their is music in the game BUT the music is only at teh intermisson screen

  • @GamerBoyGU82

Just do what the Angry Video Game Nerd says and listen to Slayer or something while playing it.

  • @GamerBoyGU82

    The cartridge memory said it

  • just add slayer and your set

  • There's plenty of compromises. half of the detail is missing and it only uses a few textures compared to the PC version.

  • if only this port had music

  • The Jaguar version plays accompanying musik :-(

  • Despite what emulator to run??
