-Saxophones should be removed from concert or orchestra band. I say this as a saxophonist because it just doesn't fit in right, yha some times they work out well in some pieces but they are just supplication to some other part of the music really. Good job though over all. And all you sax players jet into jazz, it's much funner anyways.

Well it figures this is a grade school/middle shool band. There is no emotional aspect in the music except for the strings. The damn Brass section blares out every note even when it is not needed. Same with the percussional snare. God this made me kringe when they sped up. It just sounded like throw up.

Not perfect by any means but if you have ever been in a band then you can appreciate just how difficult it is to get a ton of people (much less KIDS) to practice, play well, play together, play in tune, etc. Not to mention most of the band is probably using / renting crap instruments. Much more difficult to learn control and expression with brass vs strings.

@thegarbageman21 actually, yes I was in band since the sixth grade and we sounded in tune, in sync, and played the music how it was written. It seems to me that what you listed is just a bunch of excuses. The "kids", as you put it, just simply didn't have an instructor or section leaders that demanded great music. Instead, theysettled and it sounded like garbage. This song is awesome but was ruined by lazy, underachieving, and tone deaf individuals. I used to rent instruments.TUNE IT 1st PPL!!!

In smaller schools it is hard to find kids (they are in 6-12th so not sure why you don't consider them kids...) with music at the top of their priority list. That is like expecting every athlete in a soccer team to be training every day at home or every member of a debate team to be studying daily. Consider yourself lucky to have your music experience but don't make generalizations.

@thegarbageman21 I'm a student and am part of my 8th grade public school orchestra, and let me tell you, my teacher would NEVER let us pass with this sorry excuse of a performance. Either they have been practicing for too little time, or the students just dont practice, or they don't put their heart into the music. Either way, This group could have done way better. It was extremely out of tune, the brass instruments were overpowering the strings, and they were out of sync with each other.

Even if it's just for ten minutes a day, they should do so. cfshouse is right; they need to work harder. And we're not making generalizations, either. I mean that you need more light sounding instruments standing out, such as the flute, piccolo, and violins. The heavier sounds should back off and be a bass line that you should feel, not hear.
