  • You say:"don't connect the battery terminals together" and "don't make a circuit with just a battery and a LED". You then proceed to do both of these things in the next minute of your video.

  • That's really cool ;) u make science awesome

  • This should be in the school curriculum. :D

  • Thumbs up Sylvia, another fun video.

  • You dont need a resistor all the times you know.

  • 3:13 WARNING Science content

  • Informative, sweet and fun. Well done Sylvia & co. A valuable resource for the absolute beginner. I approve ^_^

  • This is a very nice vid. Those kids are both smart AND intelligent.

Seriously, the vid is very good and they should make more. They have a talent that should be explored further.

  • hai Sylvia i am karolis I know a secret about Squishy Circuits put them in the fridge

  • this is a good idea for a show. like it ^^

  • AWESOME! This is totally cool science at its best. Keep up the great work!

  • ten years old girl does this? i feel dumb...

  • Great job! Thank you!

  • So what you're telling me is that this little girl knows more about the science behind circuitry than most adults?

  • This was so fun and understandable to watch! Keep up the excellent work!

  • Awww, that was cute! Love the show! :)

  • I'm going to have my daughter watch these when she gets old enough

  • Can you bake a circuit-board ? (with this dough!)

  • This needs to be a tv show.

  • My God..... I learn more about atoms from this Young Lady then from my science teacher.... AND IM IN HIGHSCHOOL. Way to go. I love learning things like this

  • A recycling idea: cut up an old set of Christmas tree lights to use the good LEDs.

  • Finally a kid putting something useful onto youtube.

  • did you know that matter is not solid? its NOT SOLID!!

  • bleached flour?? what is that good for?

  • I understand this is intended for kids, but electricity doesn't "take the path of least resistance". It divides inversely proportional among the resistances. So a 1 ohm resistor connected in parrallel with a 100 ohm resistor in a circuit gets a 100 times more current, BUT NOT ALL of the current. But an led has a nonlinear UI-curve so at a low voltage it will conduct only a neglectable amount of current.

  • love this show, its intelligent information given in a format that will inspire younger makers to not limit themselves and create what they dream up.... thanks sylvia and make!

  • How could anyone dislike this? Sylvia is superawesome and this looks fun!

  • Sylvia is going to be a rocket scientist

  • You will be an awesome engineer.

  • you explained this better than some kids i know at my uni

  • i hate that a 12yr old girl is smarter than me

  • Sylvia, come do my fluid mechanics homework for me.

  • Breadboard circuits? Breaddough circuits!!

  • haha best 7 minutes ever keep at it :)

  • A good substitute for breadboards? Hmmmm... At least for the time being:D

  • as a film maker Sylvia is top noch, better then alot of people twice her age.

  • Woah, rad! If I had a kid, I would definitely do this project with her/him. I would also explain not to make one in public, because it looks like you are making a bomb.

  • By the age of 18 she will probably own the channel PBS

  • Sylvia for president!

  • You make science way more interesting!

  • damn them free electrons! get off my lawn!

  • This is great! Keep doing those shows, I looove it! :D

  • Get off my lawn!!!

  • This was really cool I learned to make conductive play dough ^^

  • I'm 54 and this is the 1st time I understood how electricity works. My old teachers should have done this, I would have learnt more and not looked out the window all the time.

  • @Rocstoneau I'm 54 and this is the 1st time I saw a vid about electrically conductive green flour dough taught by a LITTLE girl. (All the basics of electricity I learned 38 years ago.) All in all, a very strange vid with a silly girl, BUT it is educational AND fun......MIKEY LIKES IT!!!

  • 96 grouchy oxygen molecules dislike this video.

  • Insightful and adorable--as always! Love your Clinton Eastwood by the way (@4:05). :o)

  • Sylvia really, really needs her own youtube channel.

  • @AndrewDBarker she already has one

  • I wish I was this smart when I was little. Awesome! :)

  • Now all you have to do is figure out how to make P-type and N-type doughs so that you can make diodes and transistors.

  • Dont short circuit the battery. 2 secs later...(short circuits battery with dough)

  • @messedmushroom Though it was not mentioned, the dough is resistive, therefore, not a short circuit.

  • @messedmushroom Probably not a short circuit, as I'm assuming the conductive dough offers some resistance, hence why she didn't use a resistor with the leds

  • WHO is disliking this? Sylvia is energetic, fun and is teaching other kids about electronics and other projects in a thorough yet safe manner. You go girl! You are awesome!

  • i am 32 male and today in my life i learned that Electrons are actually babies. thanks Sylvia :)

  • Aww i like it!! i learn more here than my school XD

  • I never understood the flow of electricity until now.. I am 26 years of age and love this show. good job.

  • can you eat this?

  • this is awesome!! greeting from an electrical engineering student!! Its always exciting to see your show!! :D friggin Copper atoms and their electrons.. ;p

  • i use a soldering iron and i still use it even though ive gotten burned twice an to tell you the truth, IT HURTS LIKE #$!%

but i still solder becouse it is more fun to make a strong connection on a cuircut board

  • i watch a show on the nasa channel where young people do science to educate viewers. i enjoy them alot. you are every bit as good. keep putting out the vids

  • Cute but I have one word. Breadboard :D

  • These shows are totally awesome. I want to make this now!

  • Can you eat it when you are done?

  • Months of grade 9 science rolled up in less than 7 minutes.. But more entertaining. LOL well done!

  • sylvia, frist of i love the show, keep it up!

but electrons actually flow from - to +, but okay, if you wanna be old school, it's fin :P

  • if dont have a 5v bat. can i just use a 110v wall socket with this dough?

  • i used this to make sure my roommates werent screwing with me

  • FINALLY! something we can all do!

  • Bravo, as always!

  • wow! great show, if you subtitle this, it will easily become one of the most viewed shows on the internet.

  • Good stuff, makes it easy for kids to understand electricity!

  • nice work

  • Sylvia, you are a doll !!! Does the green dough act as a resistor? When you arranged the three pieces of dough as you did at 6:08 I thought you were going to make a transistor. I guess you would have to add some semiconducting stuff to the dough to do that. Can't wait for your next video.

  • Does this stuff still work if it hardens?

  • Those dang copper atoms and their free electrons! Get off my lawn!

  • This was a pretty great introduction to electricity, well done!

  • Excellent job!

  • can you cook with it?

  • im really tempted to unsubscribe to this channel...

  • Lol "get off my lawn!" XD

  • I hear your voice in a lot of other hollywood caricatures and think they did a grate job picking out the right person

  • That's clever, I'm wondering if we will see Silvia in 10 years at Discovery Channel.

  • awesome!!! keep up kid!!!

  • Two words."FREAKIN' AWESOME!"

  • current is more like a measurement of the speed of the flow of electrons not the power. power is in watts.

  • "agh agh agh copper atoms and their free electrons" ha ha ha

  • I miss the old Maker show!

  • CAN I EAT IT?

  • mini kipkay!

  • Wish I had her parents when I was a kid.

  • i used to stick my tongue on the 9 volt batteries too!

  • If this was on TV when I was a kid I would have been in love it's interesting and knowledgeable. Keep it up your doing great

  • Next best thing to kipkay

  • You rock Sylvia! Most excellent description of how a circuit works.

  • 4:30 the LED looks like its having fun xD

But do you know why they us salt in one and sugar and distilled water in the other ? ;)

You should explain it maybe? (i know btw :p)

Great episode but sad its only useable for 2 weeks.:(

  • @Daxmau5 Water needs electrolytes like salt in order to be conductive, and tap water has other dissolved solids in it as well. Distilled water is not conductive as it contains no electrolytes or other conductive dissolved solids.

  • all kids should watch this kind of video's instead of gaming

  • Super Awesome!!!

  • Sylvia is better than my chemistry Teacher..

  • i miss the old make channel, with bre pettis...

  • MODERN DAY BULMA..Minus the green Hair..lol

  • you remind of indy mogul (its good)

  • Get off my lawn!

  • What the heck is cream of tartar? Why not say use lemon juice...

  • This kid rules

  • People dislike it because this is not what they subscribed for.

  • almost best show in this channel

  • Another win! Keep up the great work!

  • Connecting an LED directly to a battery is wrong but connecting it to a dough which is connected directly to a battery is all right. No resistor. Mind blown.

  • Great show, don`t have kids myself but have to show my sisters kids this :)

  • L.E.D. = EPIC!!!

  • Q. How do you make Pentium chips?

    A. Put the pan on the processor!

  • pulls out breadboard

  • Sylvia you're awesome keep this up, i'm 18 but i'm a fan of your show and i like it :D

don't you ever change, and keep doing what you do ^_^

Wish you the best of luck ♥

  • This girl is soooo cute :)

  • I don't understand why people dislike these. The kid is doing a great job and she is putting herself out there unlike the people who hit dislike... they probably live in their mom's basement.

  • and concurn parents dont worry this all is done under the supervision of are skill team please dont "worry"

  • Who's kid is this? She's awesome! Great work.

  • When are we ganna learn thevenin with dough :P

  • like if you already knew what is electricity but still watched it because the explanation was amazing

  • Love these shows. Wish more of Make's show where this informative.

  • Going to make myself a sandwich.

  • guys, please read this. it is about a us bill that will violate our right to free speech on the internet. even wikipedia will black out for 24 hours to oppose the SOPA and PIPA bill.

    wikimediafoundation.***/wiki/English_Wikipedia_anti-SOPA_blackout

    replace the stars by org...

  • The people who downvoted are intimidated by this kid's intelligence. Its sad really.

  • ...I learned something... I feel so, shocked...

I love this little girl, she knows exactly what she's talking about and she's a wonderful presenter.

  • again, another great project to entertain my nephews on the weekend

  • 15 people don't have kids.

  • :D

  • It would be so cool if this went on TV, there is such bad influences now a days.

  • I made top 10 ;}

  • Get off my lawn!!

  • Even a kid knows that electricity actually goes from negative to positive. +1 Sylvia

  • Smart kid...Ugh....

But it is fun to watch

  • ive burnt my self with a soldering iron, it doesnt hurt that much and i kno what a burn feels like ive spilt boiling water on my chest and ive also dropped some shit that was on fire on my knee

  • Get off my lawn!

  • awesome!!!

  • It might be a bad idea to bring this to an airport tho :D

  • я бы вдул. хотя меня наверно за это арестуют

  • This is brilliant for kids, lovely! This isn't a breadboard, this is actually bread circuits ;)

  • This is brilliant for kids, lovely!

  • nice thx ^^

  • i win

  • 6th!

  • nabs

  • third

  • everyone is mad

  • Holy Crap, that's awseome! Now for a dough electro-magnet!
