@ReadyTwoFightBack you really don't know what is nu metal. Coal Chamber is one of the first and best nu metal bands ever, gothic nu metal, and Drowning Pool are nu metal, hard rock, alternative metal and more. nu metal doesnt means hip hop.

Nu-Metal is only called metal because of the downtuning. The downtuning made everything look heavy. But it's really just a form or rap-rock.

But I think it should be called metal if metalcore is called metal.

They are contemporary for thrash, if you go deeper into the genre, you can find even heavier.

All the nu metal songs you listed are great. I think people just got tired of simplistic riffs and longed for the more intricate compositions of yesteryear. That is why bands like Lamb of God and Shadows Fall arose to kill all of it.
