Actually I got from the motion picture that the machine V'ger merged with the humans to create the borgm becuse V'ger was completely machine, then it took the humans which im guessing became the biological part of the borg.
well there are three problems with that theory. 1) where did the voyager probe get its advanced technology from. 2) the borg designation for humans is 5618...if the borg started by merging with humans why aren't humans species 1? 3) in first contact crusher says that the borg are from the delta quadrant, not the alpha quadrant where earth is.
Yeah I guess but I don't understand what happened to the two humans who merged with V'ger. The motion picture hinted that htye became something more, more than man or machine. Also I know from the voyager ep they encountered an ancient species that told them the borg were around ages before which supports what you're saying.
@b33jal i believe that the voyager probe fell into a black hole and traveled bak in time hundreds if not thousands of years and then slowly made its way bak to earth over a long period of time. its similiar to the new star trek movie where spock and the romulans accidently go bak in time hence why the borg have been around since the time of the vaadwaur.
Also1)they said the voyager probe got its technology form a machine planet, not cyborgs and2) when the humans merged, didn't the whole thing disappear and go somewhere else?-so numbering could have started after that. This is speculating but they could have jumped to the Delta quadrant. Also I'm sceptical that the borg would have fixed the machine and send it back to earth because they usually assimilate things- which is what V'ger did till it got to Earth. (i.e klingon ships, spacestations etc)
But i agree it's debatable, and I wish they would elaborate on the storyline and tell us where the borg came from, but i suppose their mystery is what makes them so intrguing. :)
