@Sonnysidee I try to stay out of the whole Blur vs. Oasis thing (although I am a Blur supporter) but I agree! Blur's songs are all unique and that's one of the reasons I love them.
@gogolplex74 are you fucking crazy? ever heard of the black jeans? there are many different colors of jeans you stupid bitch. stop trolling and kill yourself it will be the best way to repent the gay comment you post.
@gogolplex74 Oh, that is just an informal, slangy way of saying the same thing. It sounds weird sort of, but it's the same thing as saying "she don't know"/she doesn't know or "she don't care"/she doesn't care
Not a bad song. They might consider a different approach to their videos though, instead of just hanging a photo of a sleeping emo geezer. Put a film student to work, or something; they'll do it for free. The photo of the sleeping emo geezer is perhaps a little bit rubbish, and wants some creative direction.
@jigen08 You serious? this is a fan vid with a pic of the lead singer stood at the mic. It's not an 'official video'. Music up-loaders here rarely do a no expense spared video production just to put a rarer track up! :P Also blur and Damon are not nor never were 'Emo' and he's not sleeping either. People are allowed to blink you know :)
i cant say this is a lyrical / instrumental masterpiece, but theres something about it. so calm, reassuring and blur-esque, it fills me with an odd jolly confidence. i dunno what this is.. its genius i guess
What can i say??? i was a 15 years old boy...how many dreams i've painted in the sky,man...and the soundtrack was MODERN LIFE IS A RUBBISH, i've made a cassette copy from a good friend's imported cd and the sound of that album made my life better, enough to survive the typical situations a teenager could live in this world, you know. This particular tune was the sound of my 3 or 4 first "real" kisses, my first time in a girl's bed,the first time i was really in this fuckin' game called life.
ever since i heard of Blur and Gorillaz i wish i was this age in the 90's (im 16) but really i'd kill to see Blur live. But Damon Albarn is one of my heros no matter when he was most popular
what greatness about Blur is high quality of their songs which are even not used as a single EP like this song Blue Jeans. Especially in the album Modern Life is Rubbish we see so many songs of that kind.
Good songs can capture our mind at any age, no matter how old they are. Come on boys, release another new album please.
I've seen Blur 4 times. once this year. once when they released the great escape in 95 and Once when they released Blur in 97. Those 3 times were all in Manchester. But the best was when i won tickets to see them perform 13 on the day it was released. It was a really small intimate gig with about 200 people there plus their friends and family. I met their old producer Stephan Street on the tube train on the way. And later i shouted to Alex to give me a cig. He threw me one but some girl got it .
@blakefish80 - My life would be complete with this experience, alas I reside in the U.S. my chances of seeing them are slim, but when my music career takes off, I hope dearly to work with Damon.
@blakefish80 I saw Blur in 1995 too (The Great Escape) - Sheffield Arena. Best part was an open aftershow at the leadmill and I managed to get a pass into the annex room and spent the evening (well about 1.5 hours) chatting to a very drunk Graham and a very polite/obliging Damon. Damon was very forthcoming about stuff and didn't act aloof as some think, prob cos he knew we were proper fans and not liggers or music critics :)
One of the best evenings of my life in fact! Blur 90s = my best days!
good times seeing Blur at Shepherds Bush in 94, high times, I don't really wanna change a thing, I wanna stay this way, forever. Friend of mine saw them as Seymour in New Cross Goldsmiths Tavern. Long live New Cross Lager Daleks.
i am so sad that i missed the hyde park event. i'm a caregiver in the u.s. but if i could have gone that would have been a dream come true. i love blur and spent alot of time listening to them. wish i could have been there!!!
Lets hear it for blur everyone. The greatest band of a generation. Love this song so much. This and resigned are my faves off Modern life. Great stuff m7mteddy. Cheers.......................you know its to be with you.........:-)
I have revisited this album for the first time in ages recently (in preperation for Hyde park!) Its amazing how great you feel when you go back to the start...I hope they play a few tracks from MLIR would be great to hear them live again..then again they can play anything they want I am just delighted to be able to experience them live once more :)
so how did you like hyde park?I was there on thursday and left in a state of beauty-induced stupor.I totally messed up at work the day after as I couldn't think about anything else..then went back to hyde park trying to get a ticket but the touts had gone ballistic and were asking for silly money..ended up getting drunk with my mates on the grass just outside the arena-it was hundreds of us out there, still singing, dancing and clapping as if we'd made it in.Never experienced so much love...
It was amazing flew in from Dublin Friday morning was in Hyde Park from 4...the atmosphere was amazing such love for such a great band met some great fans sang, danced, cheered and even cried a little bit...I hope there is more to come!! Was pretty close to the front and had a great view..hands down not just the best blur performance I have ever seen but the best live performance I have ever seen!
really? I thought it was a bit generic. I thought the best album was MLIR. I think they really got to experiment in that album...some of it didn't work, but the bits that did they sort of concentrated into perfect pop versions and Parklife was born. Which, minus the singles, actually has a chemical formula of 1 x WIN.
MLIR.. its a pure raw one, compares to their later albums. I myself had bought almost 3 MLIR cd's as each of it had been stolen.. heh. learn all chords song on this album and sing along as my voice Damon look a like.
This is great stuff for a demo, but it goes to show what an amazing job a good producer can do to enhance a band's sound. Stephen Street did a genius job on Parklife, he took these very good songs and made them classic.

WAooww this is my favourite Blur song EVER, cause it reminds me so much of my yougness... So sad... It makes me want to cry... "Modern life is rubbish" is their best album with "13". THANK YOU SO MUCH for posting it m7mteddy :)
