SLP is the way to go on a V6. SLP on a V8 is wayyy to poppy. O/r x is great on an eight.
The best setup for a V6 Mustang
1. Mac Long Tube Headers
2. Mac O/R H-Pipe
3. SLP LM1 Catback
That setup is by far the best for a 6. I had straight pipes (catted) with flowmaster 40's on my V6. It sound deep on start-up, but after warming up it was okay, but SLP is pretty damn loud for a 6. That is the closest you're going to get a V6 to sound like a V8.
Yea. It means you take the muffler off and replace it with another one. The mufflers on the S197's are located right behind the rear bumper, in the space between the axle and bumper fascia. Hence, 'axle-back.'
Everything else was stock on the car except for a Diablo Predator and tunes from Bamachips (Doug), and the SLP axle-back on the car. So it was a single axle-back, just replaced the stock muffler.
just what i was going to do. how much did you get for trading in the V6. I bought mine for $17,500.00 and I am going to trade it in this summer. so i would have it for 11 months.
the car is basically brand new. its an 05 too.
Im hoping at least $10,000.00 trade in value.
Im also going to go with SLP loundmouths on my GT.
Unfortunately, I have no idea. Sorry, man. I still have the one I had on there in the garage(no longer have the car - traded it in for a 2008 Mustang GT), but the hangars are all fubar'd and the bottom of the tip is missing a few chunks of metal. lol I was just lucky enough to get it off my parents old '05 GT before they got rid of it.
so thats with the stock mid pipe? i heard loudmouths reduce horse, cause there is no back pressure, so i want something loud, but with max performance.. power flows sound sic with a 6 with a y pipe.. just imagine them, duals with an H pipe.. you reccomend it? or something else?? Thanks!
sounds raspy, but nice at the same time nice car

sry man. aftermarket exhausts and V6's just don't seem to coincide well in the sound department.

nice v6 lol like that sound
rebel0706 2 years ago
hows the drone on that? cause i want something that sounds like that but i don't want it loud in the car.
geotrker91 2 years ago
Honestly I cannot tell you. I haven't had the car for over a year. I don't think it droned that much though.
longhornd00d 2 years ago
@geotrker91 It's really not bad. Under load it's fairly loud, but at cruise it's silent. At idle it's a low burble.

Nice sound. Does axle back mean you only changed the muffler with a single exhaust on a V6. Thanks

i was gonna say "haha sounds like you sold the wrong car" , but that sounded good for a v6.

you should do a drive by, I would really like to hear that before I make my decision on these mufflers

I would if I could. Last month I traded the car in on a brand new 2008 Black Mustang GT.
Sorry, man.

I honestly cannot tell you power wise and all that stuff. I just put it on for the heck of it since we just took it off our GT.
Exhaust seems like something you just have to buy and try with. And everyone has different preferences as well. And yes, it's the stock mid-pipe.
longhornd00d 4 years ago
how did you get just one power-flo muffler.
did you buy the 2 off of slp website and just use one
1Cheddarbob 4 years ago
Nope. We had a GT at one point and sold it. But when we had the GT we had the SLP pipes on it, so I put one of them on mine.
longhornd00d 4 years ago
oic. how does it sound when normal driving around town and freeway.
I ask b/c idk if i want the p flo or the LM2
LM1 is out of the question.
1Cheddarbob 4 years ago
Not bad at all. No drone that I could tell. Just a little more noisy than stock. lol
longhornd00d 4 years ago
can you tell me the exact set up of your mufflers and exhaust system? :D thanks thanks
sounds awesome
jrhykushi 4 years ago
Thanks a lot. Yep, just the muffler itself. Nothing else done to the car!
