  • Almost great.. Expensive, doesn't look like a true outdoors products, big, your not going to boil everything your going to eat when your camping, and you need to bring a stove for this one.. I think the biolite woodgas stove will be much more useful, and far less expensive, you don't even need water to make electricity, just something to burn..

  • expensive compare to solar power :-)

  • @kelsdon01 10X as reliable unless you live in the middle of a sunny desert area.

  • What was the temp of the water that you added? Where do you get this from and how much?

  • @passout18 The water that was added was just room temperature. Colder water or even snow or ice can also be used and results in even greater output since it increases the temperature difference between the hot and cold sides. But it is not necessary. As you see, the unit can produce 2 watts even while the water is boiling. The current price (as of 1/27/12) is $199 and it is available in America through our web site at TheEpicenter(dot)com

  • ...I'm buying this.

  • @Melvarrius That's Great! We were just informed that manufacturing costs are lower now and our next batch is going to cost less. So, we have lowered the price of our current stock ahead of the next batch. As of 1/27/12 the price is $199.

  • @Melvarrius You can make one for about $40...youtube search thermocouples and you'll see what I mean.

  • @Melvarrius Also youtube search "seebeck effect"....these things are so simple to make.

  • Cool video - Thank you for showing volts and amps with your watt meter. I need to find some of these high temperature TEGs. Most TEGs fail at over 200C when then solder inside starts to melt.

  • Very cool idea!

  • .. This is amazing!

This will be quite useful in the HVAC industry... why not get some power from your furnace? Hmmm... potential business haha

  • Thats really neat. I've seen home-brewed devices that you sit on top of your wood stove for example and can power electronic devices... But, never something like this that you could take into woods with you.
