  • Yes, its a mahogany/spruce L body guitar made by Tim Scheerhorn, In general maple is bright/punchy whereas mahogany/spruce is darker/warmer. With that said, you really have to take into account the design of the builder and their attention to detail/craftsmanship and set up. Two guitars with the same wood by two different builders could sound/play very differently. The design of the builder is just as important as the choice of wood used in building the guitar!

Hey Rob, is that mahogony/ spruce top? if so, what's your opinion on it vs. solid all maple L body, I am looking at a guitar right now that is bear claw spruce top/ curly mahog. back and sides. I have a import laminate mahogany, it seems to be much warmer than my L body solid maple. thanks. love your additions on the guitar comparisons, what a great help for folks.. mike
