It helps on the steeper hills but has its limits. Need lots of pedaling in lowest gears. The motor has to have a minimum rpm to develop much power because it is not geared.
Don't mistake an electric bike for a scooter in disguise. I don't help it along. It helps me along. Look at the wheel size on scooters. There are engineering reasons for that called torque and RPM.
cost cost cost... we all think about cost. so, how much did it cost. You noted the bike ... a Mongoose, was around $150. How much was it to convert? Thanks.
20mph is pretty fast. An impact from it can get you pretty hurt too if your not wearing safety equipment. Yea, you did made that hill look like it was cake though. GJ on the bike, but I think it might have been a bit too expensive for the average person to make because of the battery. Probably cost around $1000 to make.
Electric bicycles : Perfect hybrid vehicles. You´d expect most US cities full of these friendly machines. Cheap, fast, quiet ,efficient, fun. P-E-R-F-E-C-T
Simple to maintain too.
Good for your body, as you ride it you feel more and more eager to pedal and save the e-power for when you are really tired.
you are the man@!!!!, you might think about a solar charger....
great great job...

How does this handle the steeper seattle hills? Very practical using the drill batteries. Have you considered taking them out of the plastic housing?

Do you help it along by pedaling also, or do you let the motor do all the work?
