Actually, wandering through the Amazon wilderness a few years ago, and more recently in a remote village near Timbuktu, I saw some women do this move! I'm being sarcastic! Ridiculous to think you are the 'first woman' to have done this move. Very egotistical!!
@carolpilates I was being sarcastic, I'm saying the motion your creating is originating from you flexing and relaxing your calves, this is not what Jack laLanne push ups are supposed to work out.
I did take another look, and the point I made still stands - what you did, however much "muscle recruitment" you had was NOT Jack LaLanne's fingertip push-ups. In this videos link you will see that his feet are placed apart for balance I think and his body movement is distinctly going UP & DOWN with his ankles/feet NOT moving as yours did. Obviously, being a woman, you do not have the upper body strength to accomplish this feat in the same way. Sorry. Nice try, but no cigar, carolpilates.
@narjis542003 This has nothing to do with "being a woman". Just this particular woman doesn't have enough upper body strength--not because she's a woman, just didn't train upper body enough.
Evidently, I'm not the only one to slam you, on how your JLL p/u's - aren't. I only did 5 or 6, as I was a bit tired. Oh yah, this is 3 months post fibula fracture and 1 month post tendonitis in the bicep tendon, but I digress.
Only the last 2:00 will interest you, you dont want to watch the rest - as it shows proper form for many various PLANKS along with other great core moves and you apparently do not care to do your moves properly. Cheers!!
You're not actually doing them, you're getting a calf workout maybe...but your video is incorrectly titled, change "DO" to "ATTEMPT". Nice attempt though, if you start working out you'll be able to get it with hard work and dedication.
everybody is hating on you because you dont do them exactly like Mr LaLannehimself, but they dont realise you are a 56yo woman, so i say damn good job and keep up the good work
@cerlenox Thanks... You may be correct as the haters are averaging about age 22.Would welcome their posting their attempts. I did send a copy to Jack LaLanne and rec'd a complimentary response. Go figure. Shoulda kept a copy to post. Folks take things too seriously...it was simply a personal challenge.
Very impressive - especially for a female. However, she's using a VERY limited range of motion. Jack touches his chest to the ground on every rep. She's only lowering herself 2 inches. Still good for a woman, though. The ability to do this kind of extended arm holds is not so much a function of strength. Rather it's a function of leverage. If you have long arms, long legs, and a long torso, these exercises will be very difficult. That does not mean you are not strong.
these aren't quite right, it's a bit off. But I know what you're trying, and actually we do in Gym at our High School. Many of the girls can do it, many can't.
Thank you. It was a personal challenge and attempted 100s with a self-imposed one week deadline. While I know the form is not perfect (I was exhausted by the time I posted)...I appreciate you're noticing.
OMG - that is a travesty to Mr LaLanne. Your upper body BARELY moves but you sway your legs nicely. Just for you, I will most certainly post a video showing proper form. You are a charlatan, claiming 'first woman blah blah blah..."
@GreekPT ...8 months??? Still waiting. It only took me (at age 56) a few hours to accomplish...Was sore for weeks! ... but got it done. Def was first woman to 'post' if you listened to my light hearted banter. And sent link to Jack LaLanne - and received a lovely, complementary reply. It was a fun, personal challenge. Lighten up.
the set of muscles u work on these pushups are completly different from the ordinary ones while ordinary pushups work ur external musclular structure these work ur inner structure
looks like your humping to ground LOL

that sure doesn't look like the push-up Jack LaLanne did. You're just moving your feet at the ankles making your body move but not push-up. LOL

take another look...if you don't see muscle recruitment from fingertips to toes you may want to have your vision checked.

those are no jack lalanne pushups, haaaaaaa..
Barely moving up and down, and it seems to be more of a calf exercise the way u do it
Shonaripa 1 year ago
@Shonaripa Any original thoughts are appreciated. Just how much do you move up and down when you perform these?
carolpilates 1 year ago
@carolpilates well you're mainly pressing up only with ur heels. arms should be moving more. Just study how Lalanne does it.
