The freezing and inconsistent battery life is a symptom of the battery shorting out, a common problem with these. My model number is F460B and the battery inside is number is 1UF463450F

.

The replacement battery also works for the Palm LifeDrive, got mine for $11 on ebay. If you plan to discard yours, please donate it to me. I'll fix it and pass it along to someone in need. I do stuff for kids, veterans, etc... on a regular basis. thanks
