  • how do you stop the sample slices cutting each other of when u hit another pad?would be nice to play them over each other

    thanks

  • @Lukeyjfry turn up polyphony to whatever amount of sounds you want to play. Polyphony set to 1 only allows 1 sound at a time, 2 allows 2, etc.

  • how do i stop a slice playing the whole slice?for eg. u hit pad1,and say half way thru that slice playing,u hit pad2.. pad2 cuts off the slice being triggered by pad1,now the slice being triggered by pad2 lasts abit too long, and theres a bit on the end that is usually cut off when u hit pad1 again, now say i dont hit pad1 again coz i want it to just cut out at the1st beat of the next bar and have the beat playing on its own,but the remaining "useless" part of slice2 bleeds over to the next bar

  • @0001musicman

Turn down the Release to zero, then it will stop as soon as you let go of the key. Adjust for more tail end.

  • Thx man !

    Nice tips

  • does anybody knows how to do this with fruity loops?? i figured out how to change the MTY to TGL and it plays out the instrument but it doesnt cut off when i hit the next one??? help would be apriciated it

  • @jasmin21BHF If you use the FPC look on the right hand side of the plugin and drag the "cut" and "cut by" both from zero to one. You have to change this for every pad you use for your chops. Then it should cut off when you hit the next pad.

  • nice trick... @nathan56283 ummm mpc will NEVER be obsolete... you CANNOT emulate the sound you get.... people still use sp1200s why? b/c the sound...people still use tube amps why? b/c the sound... i know producers that ditched their mpc5000xl b/c its doesn't sound like a 2000xl...

  • the only problem with this is latency issues, an mpd is nothing like an MPC, i have an mpc and use midi & reason, an mpd is just a midi trigger no different to a midi keyboard, an mpc is a music production tool & unlike a computer it wont crash or freeze & its designed specifically for the purpose of producing music. i use both though, i only use the mpc to get ideas out like a first draft & do the final production on my computer because i master my beats as well

  • @treblemc If you have a decent computer with a reasonable amount of RAM you'll never have latency issues. Moreso, if you own a Mac you'll be good in terms of crashes/freezes forever. Never had any problem with Reason on both my Macs.

  • @netbird Latest macbook pro, Reason 5 with Abelton 8 and mpd32 :)

  • @treblemc if you still have latency issues check out asio4all. I had midi lag with 16gb of RAM until i got asio4all

  • Need the same tutorial for Logic ?

  • i learned about this a while back. this is a cool technique. soon mpcs will be obsolete.

  • @killaklish short and to the point :) my pleasure

  • here is a simple but very HELPFULL!!

  • ive been looking for this information ALL FREAKIN DAY..

I find it by mistake cuz I googled "mpc vs mpd"

    amazing.

    Thank God.

    and thank you too!

  • Hey netbird, I know this is a newbie question, buy how do you assign the pads on your mpd24 to hold different samples?..I do appreciate it...

  • You have to use ReCycle and chop the samples up. Then you just open the resulting file in Reason's REX.

  • Thanks for the quick response, net....I don't have Recycle, but do have Adobe Audacity. Would that still work the same?

  • Don't think so...ReCycle is made by Propellerheads and it's used for this purpose specifically.

  • OK, thats what I figured...Thanks for the info!

  • @netbird nah audacity wont work, the drrex sampler in reason only plays REX. files, Recycle is a program that turns your wav. file into a REX. file to be used in reason & it enables you to slice your sample

  • @treblemc yeah I know :) just wanted to be polite, maybe got a bit too vague.

  • hi i just got an mpd does anyone know how to set the faders and knobs to assign parameters?

  • each reason rack has pre-defined settings for faders/knobs -> parameters, so you just have to plug it in

  • dude, super helpful. Thank you.

  • guys how can i change the tempo for and imported loop in NN-XT tyo fit my recording? any help plz :)

  • you mean pitch? cause you cant change tempo without changing the pitch.

you load your sample to nn-xt. below the blue screen you can see "octave", "semitone", finitone".

there you can change the tempo.

  • Thanks for the info!

  • Ok...I don't have a MPC but I do have a trigger finger that I'm trying to slice beats with I'mma try this it might be unrealist....

    But I'mma try it!

  • How too do it on FL?

  • set in fpc "cut 1 by 1" and just put your samples onto the pads of the fpc

  • ooweeee.. thank u boi!!

never thought that it is so easy:D

    peace

  • yo thanx for the tip now i can use the pads of my axiom 49 similar to an mpc :D

  • i ratther use my mpc:D no offense, nothing better then a mpc instant quality

  • since i traded in my MPC and got a MPK and reason this settings been great, thanks alot for sharing, for some reason though the velocity doesnt work, it plays the sample at full volume no matter how hard i hit my pads, anyone help me out?

  • Comment removed

  • maybe you ve set iti to "full level"...?

  • i got the same problem, is there a way to adjust the velocity so its not at full volume all the time.

  • Yeah dude, on the rex player on the bottom left, next to the mod wheel there are velocity knobs, turn the amp velocity knob up!

  • thanks bro

  • how do i default the rex settings

  • don't know but you can always create a new rex and it'll be set to the defaults

  • It doesn't work for me? When i press a pad still only chop play. What am i doing wrong

  • dunno what you said but this is to make reason play a chop until the end and just one chop at a time.

  • Oh Ok i thought one pad would play the whole loop. I just need to make my chop bigger and i should be fine. Thanks

  • Thank You Dude.

  • anyone know why it theres a sound that drags at the end of the samples.

  • It's the "stretch", go in Recycle and set it to 0%. It's a Time stretch thing.

  • thanks man, wanted to know this myself.

    PEACE!

  • fuckin nice

  • Hi! Does anyone know how to do this in Ableton Live 7?

  • if u guys do this in nnxt u got a lot more options i think...dr. rex will make it 2 but i like turning some controls...

  • sick

  • its so you can hold the note longer and make a beat like that

you can record doing that then turn amp release down if you want a quick hit for drums or snares
