These are 'HDR'- it is an amazing technique that blends exposures to have something closer to what your eye can see. What will be amazing is when monitors and HDTVs can display the full 48-bit (billions of colours) of an HDR picture. HDMI 1.3 comes closer than ever to this, though it is yet to be used. Today's monitors are 8-bit (millions of colours, but far less depth).
