This is great. I'm actually walking to New Orleans in a few days. I won't be there in a few days though >_> Last time I did this trip it took me four months
Returned to New Orleans this year for a holiday went into the Katrina exhibit in Jackson Square and there was Fats piano rescued from his home, as expected it was in a bit of a state but I could`nt resists touching it, it`s a bit of a long way to walk back to New Orleans from England but I will soon be flying back.
MasterSmartJason, I am creating a playlist in my YT account called S.A.M it stands for Sweet American Music.... and this song goes right into that collection. Thanks for uploading this rare and sweet piece of Americana ! i hope to God that this is not blocked out due to copyright issues :=(
I am a southerner too... from the south of India that is :=) Ahhh.....Sweet sweet Louisiana !
Really great stories you guys have.. I'm happy to be able to upload this song for you guys. I always play this for my mom. She has met Fats Domino many times before since we live in Louisiana. She always sings along and dances.. they don't have music like this anymore.. Enjoy everybody!
This song means so much to me. It reminds of the Christmas when I was a teenager and found a Fats Domino album for my Dad. That was the early 70's and 50's music was hard to find. My Dad grabbed my Mom and they slow danced to "Walking to New Orleans." In 2002, my Dad was in the Emergency room with Pneumonia and not expected to live. I held his hand and sang "Walking to New Orleans." He opened his eyes and looked up at me for what would be the last time.
my 9 month old daughter loves this song! if she wont go to sleep we will play this for her and it is immediate relief from her crying! God bless you for posting this! one of the greatest ever!

Dear Sir, have my many thanks for uploading this espacially song.
Thank you so much for posting this. I am from Louisiana and am currently stationed overseas with my husband who is AF. This song makes me smile and cry at the same time. This song and man means so much more if you call Louisiana home.
I saw Fats at the Academy Of Music on E. 14th st. N.Y.C. in the early 70's. He performed this 2nd to last. This song made me love the violin and soul at the same time. He usually closes with "the Saints go Marching In" ,which takes about 10 min. A TRUE LEGEND
fats is not really from new orleans like people say he's really from vacherie louisiana and the reason i know that because he is my cousin and i'm from vacherie louisiana and i still live there and he also has 2 sons
